McCain ad: “Housing problem” »
Posted By pc25 10 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsFROM INSTAPUNDIT
I TOLD YOU THAT IT WAS A BAD IDEA for Obama to bring up houses again.
It didn’t take long for John McCain to answer Barack Obama’s tweak on his supposed riches. Team McCain has a bona-fide television spot that will “air in key states” — most likely the same states in which Obama ran his ad. Obama can’t pretend he didn’t set the stage for this:

Barack Obama knows a lot about housing problems. One of his “biggest fundraisers” helped him buy his million-dollar mansion. Purchasing part of the property he couldn’t afford.
From Obama, Rezko got “political favors” including “14 million from taxpayers.” Now, he’s a convicted felon, facing jail.
That’s a housing problem.
Obama opened the door for this in two different ways. First, as noted, he skewered McCain for not knowin how many houses he has. But in attacking McCain’s rather tenuous connections to Ralph Reed earlier this week, he made political associates fair game.-

I love the deep voice of the announcer...sounds like he knows what he's talking about, huh...
Housing problem for Obama? How? He got his house, I assume he's living in it comfortably, and I'm sure he doesn't have a problem with it. He paid off the land next to his house in full...no problem.
Funny how the ad doesn't let you know specifically what the so-called "political favors" are...kinda vague, don't you think? I assume they have the facts to back this up and that it's not a rumor, as we're all used to seeing here...but considering the source, we'll never know...
Ah...swiftboating at it's best... -

"The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators, Alan Cranston (D-CA), Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ), John Glenn (D-OH), John McCain (R-AZ), and Donald W. Riegle (D-MI), were accused of improperly aiding Charles H. Keating, Jr., chairman of the failed Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of an investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB).
After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee determined in 1991 that Alan Cranston, Dennis DeConcini, and Donald Riegle had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB in its investigation of Lincoln Savings. Senators John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment".
Please note the last two words, and the fact that it is exactly what they accuse Barack Obama of having " POOR JUDGMENT " mmmmmmm....
McCain should know something about that eh! -

LOL.. Yeah, you're rational. Just like Obama "opened the door" by being greeted by hundreds of thousands of Germans last month (after McLib accused him of not having enough foreign policy experience). Clearly in our right wing world of delusions we've forgotten that it was also that it was the McCain camp which has been trying to paint Obama as a celebrity. Welcome to the Schizoid Neocon Zone. There's no escape. ;-( -

and about that October surprise this is one of them
Rezko gets sentencing delayed till October
A federal judge has postponed the sentencing of convicted political fund-raiser Tony Rezko by nearly two months, pushing his sentencing hearing back to Oct. 28 -- one week before the presidential election.
Does Rezko cut his deal before then?-

I think Obama's ad is silly. Both of them are rich, neither one of them lives in my world. Obama says he's more in touch with people because he's a little bit less rich than McCain?

McCain said that someone who makes under $5 million a year is middle class. does that sound like McCain is in touch with reality?
Reply
and...
if McCain is right, then Obama DOES live in your world because he's middle class, while McCain, by his own definition, is not. -

That's kinda weird that a con would say this given that when you want to bitch and cry about taxes, you seem to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that people in Obama's tax bracket are just sooooooooooo oppressed and overtaxed. LOL...Con lies and extreme hypocrisy are absolutely PHENOMENAL. ROTFLMAO

I really like how quickly McCain's campaign responded to the Obama ad. And someone knowingly accepting money from a shady source to buy a house is a bigger sin than not knowing how many houses he has.

We are all in deep poop if we don't get the candidates to address real issues. The campaigns are run by notoriety seeking geeks and this is evident that the the real issues facing the electorate take a back seat to slurs, lies, innuendo and sensationalism. The Rick Warren discussions have come the closest to reality. Wake up America, the candidates are getting smeared - we the people are the ones getting are minds smeared with meaningless manure.

What’s more important: How many buildings John McCain’s wife owns, or how many buildings Bill Ayers and his wife tried to blow up? Obama is making a big deal about John McCain not being able to remember how many properties he owns and that he must be out of touch with America. Where was the backlash at John Kerry or Nancy Pelosi or Howard Dean and the amount of money that they have? The effort of the left is to create jealousy and to agitate.

For Barry, November can't come fast enough.
With each passing day, we learn about the REAL Obama.
With each passing day, the gleam of a "different kind of politician" with a message of "hope" and "change" fades.
As long as McCain doesn't pick a lightweight VP, I'd say Barry is toast. -

Lets see here.......on 08/20 McW says he doesnt know how many houses he has.....that he has to consult with his little people to find out.
Reply
For a full three years now, the Rezko deal has been paraded and bandied about as if some kind of criminal activity took place.
A relevant NEW observation concerning McW's disassociation with economic realities comes into view and you want to pull the ol':
But, but, but Rezko, uhhhh, hes a bad guy that 3 years ago sold Obama some land.
Are you suggesting that 3 years isnt enough time to beat the Rezko horse?
Are you suggesting that McW's disssociation with the current American economic peril somehow can be marginalized by the Rezko deal from 2006?
Good luck with that.......I realize that ammunition is running LOW, but at least choose topics that are relevant and that people really CARE about, you know, like ending the war, the economy, fuel, etc etc.
Ohhhhh, thats right, more empty guns.

This is great stuff! The distortion and spin on the Right is starting to get hilarious.

So, Senator McCain, who is supposed to be the man with the plan on foreign policy because he's "been there, done that" can't remember how many houses he owns (with his wife's money) and that is somehow opening the door for the most ridiculous and unfounded accusations about Senator Obama's relationship with Rezko?
Come on, people, you've got to do better than that. As my Chief in the Navy used to say, "You can polish that Pinto all you want PO2, but it ain't never gonna be a Caddy."
Of course, I'm cleaning that up a bit. It's a family site after all.-

Bkumm10 months, 2 weeks ago
It's smear. Senator Obama wrote letters on behalf of a development that would benefit people in Chicago for whom he had been working for a long time. Rezko never solicited a letter from Senator Obama and Senator Obama didn't ask Rezko before he sent the letters.
Reply
If you're going to hang Senator Obama for that association then you'd better hang Senator McCain as well. Shall we drag the Keating Five out in the open again? As with Senator McCain in that issue, Senator Obama could be accused of having poor judgement in his associations (much looser with Rezko than McCain with Keating, by the way), but certainly not with impropriety. -

nice blog piece from hotair.com, whatever that is.

the rezko thing couldn't find traction when hillary tried it and it won't now, simply because all that happened was that Obama got a pretty good deal on a house. he didn't buy it from rezko. rezko didn't loan or give him the money, etc. and the rezkos and obamas had to close on thieir properties on the same day only under the seller's stipulation. in the rezko trial, obama has been accused of nothing, has not been investigated for anything, and hasn't even been questioned.
and the cons continue to forget or leave out the fact that rezko helped raise millions of dollars for bush.
meanwhile, McCain has shown once again that he is obviously out of touch with reality. -

The media is once again stirring things up so they can continue to sell premium ad space on their programs. Watch, if someone climbs too high in the polls, the media "props up and knock down" the other to continue the horse race. With no horse race, there would be no viewers. With no viewers, there would be no money made. It's just business.

Here's the real reason the repugs came up with this Rezko B.S. The word went out to all the right-wing-nut blog shills to use this non-issue story to deflect another one of McCains bouts with foot-in-disease. McCain's flunkies are gettin' desperate.
