It has become obvious to me that big oil runs our country. We need desperately to reduce our need for all products related to oil . Plastics would be a good place to start. Gasoline is a given but we tend to forget the other things oil is part of.

      I understand one study showed that if all known U.S. oil was drilling and pumped and put on the world market, it would reduce the price at the pump by 0.6 cents.
      
      AND that is only if OPEC or others decide not to punish us by cutting their output by twice or even three times the amount we pump, thereby actually increasing the price at the pumps.
      
      The cons big mistake is assuming that we don`t know what a free market is or how supply & demand work.

    This report from the Dept. of Energy last year shows the expected production increase from opening up offshore leasing, and the effect it would have on the price of oil.

    I think we need to do limited drilling as a backup to the real solution, alternative renewable energies and conservation. We should not spend a single tax dollar on oil in kickbacks, entitlements, tax breaks, or whatever ever again. It is only wasted on the mega-rich who don`t even do the work, while all that opportunity is wasted while the Europeans and Asians pull farther ahead of us in the real competition for the future; alternative energies and conservation.

      another republican willing to risk the future of our nation on wishful thinking. Why I am not surprised they have not learned to base decisions on fact and science?
