That's how Obama introduced him today. The next President ...errr, I mean Vice President of the United States of America, Joe Biden.

You seem concerned. Has that been an issue for you in the past, Klarissa? If so, please outline all the reasons why it was bad for the Presidency, the Vice Presidency, and the country. Thanks. I always enjoy your comments, Klarissa and I'm sure I speak for many others here.

That question is now invalid along with all other thought processes. Biden has declared this to be Barack America. They own us now.

At least we know why Obama had a problem saying the Pledge of Allegiance to himself or wearing his own lapel flag. Who knew he was just being humble?-

Didn't Bush say that God wanted him to be president? I'm pretty certain he asserted that God told him to invade Iraq.

Last time I checked, God tended to only talk with the insane or saints. Considering the fruits of Bush's actions, he's certainly no saint.

Maybe a better analogy would be that Biden and Rove are like "backup generators" that are pressed into service when there's a power outage. The thing is whereas Bush's brain outages were so frequent that his backup generator ran around the clock until it finally sputtered, spun out of control, collapsed and burned out, I'm confident that Obama's power outages will be few and far between. ;-)

Why do you say that and how so? Maybe you could start by explaining what qualifies as a "barroom brawl." McRINO has fought against the GOP for years and now you people have had to suck it up and take him as your candidate when you know full well he doesn't agree with your values and just wants to be President. ;-)

"You are saying that the MOST far left wing senator is all of the democrats choice?"
Reply
Precisely, Endo. My point was that every single Republican hated McCain and that Democrats are unanimous in their support for Obama. That's my argument in a nutshell. You cracked the case wide open. I tried to pull one over on you but you saw right through me. I'll try again on another post but I'm sure your keen insight and razor sharp intelligence will foil me again. But hope springs eternal... ;-(

“The primaries were a barroom brawl. That's all over now and his good points are coming to the fore”
Errrrrr What? What does a primary in 1988 have to do with the primary in 2008?
. "The White House isn't the place to learn how to deal with international crisis, the balance of power, war and peace, and the economic future of the next generation,"
said a TV ad for Sen. Joe Biden's 1988 presidential campaign
. "A President has got to know the territory, but that's not enough."
The ad says, "Joe Biden thinks its time to remind the world of what America stands for. Freedom. Equality. Justice. Opportunity.
He thinks it's time to put courage over compromise, time to express America's outrage once again towards repression, brutality, violence, the abuse of human dignity around the world. And if the sparks fly, so be it." -

Errrrrr What? What does a primary in 1988 have to do with the primary in 2008?
“Campaigning for president in New Hampshire in 1987, Biden admitted he had misstated several facts about his resume after a man named Frank questioned his Syracuse Law School resume.
''I think I have a much higher I.Q. than you do," Biden responded.
He added that he ''went to law school on a full academic scholarship - the only one in my class to have a full academic scholarship,'' adding that he ''ended up in the top half'' of his class (not true) and ''graduated with three degrees from college" (not true).
Five months later, Biden acknowledged that he graduated 76th in a class of 85.
''I did not graduate in the top half of my class at law school and my recollection of this was inaccurate,"
he said in a statement. He graduated with one degree -- a B.A. -- in two majors, history and political science.
''I exaggerate when I'm angry,''
(which appears to be all the time)
Biden told the New York Times, ''but I've never gone around telling people things that aren't true about me...'I guess every single word I've ever said is going to be dissected now.''
bingo!-

injest, interesting that you should object to a candidate who speaks his mind (misspeaking occasionally) and didn't graduate at the top of their class. Oh wait, you only object if they're running on the democratic side, not the republican.

Ok, I thought about it.

And it occurred to me that though congress is unpopular, Democratic membership is growing rapidly and identification is strengthening, while Republican membership is declining.
And I thought: Hey! I bet I know why! People are mad at the president for causing all these problems! and they are mad at congress, for not doing anything to stop him!
Then I thought it was getting closer to Novemeber.
Hows that? -

Think about this: Regardless of which party is in power, the Congress's rating is a reflection of the public's approval of the job the CONGRESS is doing. Congress's approval rating is worse than it was when the GOP got kicked out of office because the Republicans (think of them as the lab partners from hell you had in junior high--or may you're still *in* junior high school--no matter) are dragging down the Congress's GPA by deliberately screwing up in a desperate and sleazy (oops...hope I can use that word today) attempt to derail Democrats. But the Democrats are way smarter than Republicons (and so are quite a few Americans since they've maintained that they want Democrats running their country since they got back in power in 2006). Think about that... ;-)

tchef, I think this is what happens when cons are fed a steady diet of FOX and one of the main reasons we desperately need to bring the Fairness Doctrine back. Believe it or not, I actually think it's great that people from a broad spectrum of political ideologies participate on this site but I often get the feeling many of those on the right don't appreciate the full significance of getting involved in discussions in situations where their opinions are often in the minority. Hearing criticism of one's beliefs, values, and opinions is never pleasant but when I turn on FOX (I actually do watch that occasionally and read the Washington Times online or at the library--because I wouldn't spend a dime to buy that crap pile publication even if I was out of firewood and freezing to death) I know I'm going to learn what right wingers think of me. This is also a good way to identify the extent (if any) to which those I support are being biased or distorting facts.

Yep, cleared but found to have exercised "poor judgement". In 2002 McCain referered to the incident as "the worst mistake in my life", yet at the Warren Saddleback Forum he said his biggest regret was his divorce from his first wife.

The fact that Biden is highly respected on both sides of the aisle will be difficult for the republicans to overcome. Too many of the solid, longterm republican senators have previously gone on record praising Biden for his integrity and ability to work in a bipartisan manner for them to now try and paint him as anything but. I think it was an ingenious choice for Obama to pick Biden. Not only is he qualified, but he fills the gap the republicans have tried to exploit in Obama's foreign policy experience. It proves him to be someone willing to recognize his shortcomings in favor of the greater good, instead of being the "elitist" the republicans have tried so hard to label him as. And Joe Biden won't hold back when its necessary to face down the republican slime machine that is already beginning to churn out the hate and lies. If they lose, it won't be because they were too weak or afraid to confront an issue like Kerry was when he was swift boated and called a coward by the deserter who defeated him. THAT history won't be repeated against this particular ticket. He's a great choice when you think about it, and the next few months should prove to be very exciting because of it.

I agree that he's a strategic choice for the Obama ticket, given Obama's worldview and the need to reach out to old white men. He's on the wrong side of quite a few issues for me, personally, however, and he acts like an irritated terrier, so he's not *my* best choice for the Obama ticket. He's a dealbreaker. We can hope that, if they are elected, they'll end up with a House or Senate of the opposite party (or Libertarians, Independents, etc.) that will clip their wings.

It doesn't matter to me who Obama picked as his running mate. Biden is as good as any and not as bad as Gore or Kerry. I just wonder what bounce O is expecting from a candidate who polled less than 10 thousand votes in the 3 or 4 states whose primaries he entered before dripping out. By comparison, Hillary--with over 18 million votes--was not even considered.
Reply
Obama was in a lose-lose situation in the sense that Hillary was at once the best and worst running mate Obama could have. C`est la vie. The die is cast.-

--A fellow probability and statistics buff...I like you already, Georgia. ;-) So, tell me... did you "wonder" throughout the campaign season how the least conservative Republican in the field (well, let's be honest, he's a liberal, right?) managed to secure the GOP nomination--after his campaign flatlined at one point last year? Talk about long odds...how the hizzell did "McAmnesty" make *that* happen, Georgia? Crazy, huh? It's like the GOP electorate just said "to heck with polls" McCain is the least sleazy of the bunch, we'll go with him. Oops... You know, Georgia, I got my knuckles rapped for using that word to describe a certain pesky prolific propeller participant who I find to be an AnnoyingGnat yesterday--I won't mention this AnnoyingGnat's actual Propeller identity name but she really IS an AnnoyingGnat, I kid you not...so I better be careful. Anyhoo, Georgia, I hope you're not an AnnoyingGnat because I really like insects. But I can't stand an AnnoyingGnat. My tolerance for bugs has limits...

Part of the strategy to get elected each candidate has to play to their base to get nominated and then has to go to the middle to get the moderates to vote for them. While the hard core conservatives knocked each other out and McCain ended up winning that made him the more moderate candidate for president. Obama now has to play to the middle. He has been making himself look foolish while angering some of his supporters while he does this.
Reply
The big question is whether Biden will help or hinder this process. I think he will hinder it.

I think the fact that she got the popular vote may have had something to do with it. Biden wasn't even in the competition, so he's no threat. If they win, even if they tank, we can always replace them in 4 years if people pay attention.

Seems to me the article leaves out the most positive thing about Biden. It gives Obama someone who can run interference on the Hill and get things done behind the scenes. Biden can put polish on Obama's initiatives by intuitively knowing how to apply give-and-take to both parties and both houses. Nobody doesn't like Biden, even if they disagree with him. And Joe gets a shot at the White House.. He`ll just be Biden his time for 8 years.

From one of the youngest Senators ever elected to the oldest President ever elected (if he runs he'll haver recently turned 74 when he takes the oath of office). Seems appropriate. And I also just realized that if McCain is elected, he'll be only the second divorced President (the late Ronald Reagan currently holds that distinction).

JFK had the best at doing that and treated Johnson like a buffoon. When Johnson was president there would be a news story saying that a bill was being bogged down in congress. Then there would be a story about a group of congressmen going to the White House. Later there would be a story about the bill passing congress and going to the president.

It is a documented fact that former democratic president Bill Clinton has a severe personality disorder i.e. he is insane. I have talked with some of republican president George Bush's grade school teachers, the consensus was that he didn't burn one of the brightest bulbs in the class i.e. he is stupid. In my opinion these men represent the difference between the two parties, the republicans are stupid and the democrats are insane. The insane democrats nominated a man that cannot win the election, I think I will be insane this year and vote for the democratic candidate.

Biden is/was a lawyer with no talent, so he went to the bastion of “no talent” - the senate. Now his son Hunter, is a lawyer who is a lobbyist - thereby demonstrating phase one of “no talent”. From what I hear, the senate (the final “no talent” phase) cannot be far in the future.

Oh, that reminds me...Did you know mega biillionaire Cindy McCain had a half-sister she didn't know about? Well, it turns out she has a half sister she DID know about but has lied repeatedly in public claiming she's an only child. How sick and disgusting is that? Seriously. This vicious trampy shrew has actually claimed she was an only child (on numerous occasions) when she knew she had a half-sister that's alive and kicking all along. This is not a woman you want in the White House, America.
Reply
At first, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt (ok, ok...that was a lie...I really don't like Cindy at all...I think she's bone-chillingly ugly, a liar, a thieving tax evader and a social-climbing opportunist who stole drugs to support her unbelievably dangerous addiction to hardcore drugs--what was she thinking, robbing charities?!). Also, if memory serves me, this gruesome, cadaverous, conniving skank would be the first First Homewrecker (because even if she does find a way to slither into the White House, she will NEVER be a "lady")and I thought, maybe Cindy's sister was living in one of Cindy and John's...I don't know...let's just say 8 houses for now...and Cindy just plum forgot about her (like her husband lost track of all the various real estate of their Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous existence--some reporter should ask them how many cars they own, next--John will probably wet himself trying to remember how many Mercedes are parked at the Malibu Beach house...and which garage Cindy's PopTart Pink Bentley was in...someone needs to ask John this...LMAO). Anyway, I still can't believe cons want that homely, marriage-busting shrew staggering arouind the White House in a drugged out haze terrifying the staff and stumbling into precious antiques (the Green Room is my favorite...I'm sure you all have one). What worries me most is that Cindy might wake up in the middle of the night like Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest and shred the Rose Garden down to sawdust with a John Deere™. I LOVE the Rose Garden and I can't believe cons would be this heartless. Ok...Ok...That was a lie, too... the second part was a lie...not the Roe Garden part. Geeeez ;-(
