Time to shed some light on this illiteracy. The definition of betray is below. McCain never saitsfied this definition with regard to Mr. On because McCain was not cognizant of his rescuers and never had a relationship with Mr. On beyond the superficial.

Note that when US firefighterers pull someone from a fire, they don't follow that person the rest of their life, reminding them of a previous act of heroism. In many cases, they don't even accept the appellation "hero."
