Signs are emerging that history is repeating itself in the Big Easy, still healing from Katrina: People have forgotten a lesson from four decades ago and believe once again that the federal government is constructing a levee system they can prosper behind.

    I know that New Orleans is a historically significant city but reality is that as long as it is below sea level it is going to be prone to flooding. Does it really make sense to rebuild this city?

    Time to let that whole region go back to the swamp. Waste of money and damaging to the environment to try to keep NO dry.

      Question for liberals and Democrats:
      If a major hurricane hit NO next month and more lives were lost and major damage occurred, how many of you would find a way to blame Bush and the Republicans?

      I agree with crymptyphon that it is worth doing, but it can never be quite the same because so many older rental homes were destroyed that cannot be replaced cheaply enough to support a rental base. I don't know how you resolve this issue.
