Soon after Rick Nelson's plane crashed, Bob Dylan was doing a concert and he said, 'ricky sang a lot of my songs, so I guess I can do one of his.' And I always have pictured him doing this one ( garden party, since it even referrs to dylan ).

But I don't know for sure. Anyone know?

  I found something that said Nelson's friend Bob Dylan paid tribute while on tour, (I assume in 1986) by having a moment of silence and then playing a version of "Lonesome Town" at each concert.
