Cheney Linked To Ted Stevens Corruption »
Posted By Radiofreeeuropa 10 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsA two-year-old letter by Vice President **** Cheney that pushed a controversial Alaska natural-gas pipeline bill is getting renewed scrutiny because of recently disclosed evidence in the Justice Department's corruption case against Sen. Ted Stevens . In a conversation secretly tape-recorded by the FBI on June 25, 2006, Stevens discussed ways to get a pipeline bill through the Alaska Legislature with Bill Allen, an oil-services executive accused of providing the senator with about $250,000 in undisclosed financial benefits. According to a Justice motion, Stevens told Allen, "I'm gonna try to see if I can get some bigwigs from back here and say, 'Look … you gotta get this done'." Two days later, Cheney wrote a letter to the Alaska Legislature urging members to "promptly enact" a bill to build the pipeline. The letter was considered unusual because the White House rarely contacts state lawmakers about pending legislative matters. It also angered state Democrats, who accused Cheney of pushing oil-company interests. The former executive director of Cheney's energy task force had gone to work as a lobbyist for British Petroleum, one of three firms slated to build the pipeline.

But it says right there in the very first paragraph why Cheney's involvement was remarkable in this situation. Are you a special prosecutor, private detective or otherwise in law enforcement? Why do cons ALWAYS think they're more knowledgeable than people who have devoted most of their adult lives to their field of study, industry, etc? Does con arrogance know ANY bounds?

So your applauding bribery? Stevens accepts a quarter million dollar bribe, The briber says they'll get a "big wig" to "get it done" and the big wig in the bribers pocket is the Vice President Of The United States...that's OK with you?...(As long as there is a R next to the name I guess it is.)

This is just a continuation of Cheney's corruption all around the world in connection with oil. If Amreicans will not indict, try, convict and jail him for crimes against humanity, perahps the French or the Nigerians will jail him for corruption.

Cheney is no better than a mobster ...who's kidding who? If he wasn't the Vice President, he would be in jail already, where he belongs.

No wonder when the repug "Do Nothing" Congress was in session and Stevens held hearings on the big oil record profits, good ol' Ted said the big oil CEOs didn't even have to take an oath to tell the truth. The big oil CEOs even denied then that they were at the Cheney Energy meeting (proven to be lies) for which the minutes are now still classified. Ken lay was there with Cheney too... such evil greed should result in prison time and the torture they have allowed!

In my lifetime, nothing significant has changed in the USA without people taking to the streets. Sadly, in the corporate-fascist boon of post-Vietnam, the capacity to remove and replace the government has been bred out of the average American........ if it was ever in the 'average' American. I look at the average pot-bellied American today and am sickened.

"There is nothing new here. The question is what can we do about it?"

That does seem to be the question.
Nothing, I don't think.
But it will be interesting to see how Bush phrases the pardon he hands out at the end of the year; and what documents and emails can be recovered, by the next administration. -

Why are you people beating dead horse? Cheney is a career criminal. Do you think Bush would have hired him otherwise?

Cheney is what he has always been, a crook. No surprise here, that's why daddy Bush told baby Bush to pick him as his VP!
