Posted By chiefee351 1 year, 2 months ago in NewsBarack Obama Throughout the blogosphere, opinions are strong for or against Senator Barack Obama' s Vice Presidential choice. As you may well know, Obama chose Joe Biden to be his running mate for the 2008 Presidential election. As promised, Obama' s camp sent the information out first to those who had chosen to receive it by text message reportedly at 4am EST Saturday morning. Some say they didn' t get the message.

Yep...best choice, really. If he and Hillary had just gotten along better, Hillary would have been my first choice...but it still would have been a close call...
Reply
I've always liked Joe Biden...easy-going, outspoken at times, closer to being one of the people...much more so than our current President ever was.
As for Obama's opponent, his best choice is Tom Ridge...OK...OK...so he's pro-choice...no party can win them all, and Obama's opponent has to do it if he wants to win. No Pawlenty, no Pallin, and Romney would be his "Hillary"...they just don't get along... -

Joe Biden sold out America for his own personal gain some time ago. He is an open zionist with a son married into a zionist family who advocates leniency for zionist traitors to America (Pollard).
Reply
As someone who supports the ethnic cleansing of 7 million christians and moslems in Palestine for his own political gain in the US (Biden is one of the most financed AIPAC politicians), Biden should NOT be elected by patriotic Americans even to a position of dogcatcher.
Watch the video where Senator Biden admits he supports the violent, racist ideology of Zionism.
http://denver.craigslist.org/pol/811074997.html
Then think about the fact that in Iraq Biden has been one of the foremost advocates of old zionist dreams about what to do with Iraq. Biden is a traitor to America.

This is the scariest democrat ticket ever, B. Hussein Obama and Joe Biden. we have two socialist/communist, and one of them is probably a muslim. Joe Biden is one of the worst SOBs there is in politics. B.Hussein Obama wants to get us a new flag, the flag of the North American Union. They both want to destroy the 1st and second amendment and the rest of the constitution. Once they get our guns it will be much easier to take down the USA. I'm not happy with either ticket but I will definitely have to vote for McCain to try to keep the evil team of Hussein & Joe from destroying this country.

Biden was an excellent pick, IMO. He helps out in Pennsylvania, having been born there and helps in the rust belt in general, coming from a working class family. For a Senator, he is poor and he commutes to his Senate seat when in session. He brings real experience to the ticket and a strong working class vibe.

How does someone who has been in the Senate since he was 29 years old and is now 65 get to claim that he is "working class"? I'm sorry, it makes no sense. He is just another career politician -- better than most, perhaps, but still hardly working class. Of course, he was a lawyer (briefly) before he became a Senator. Again, not particularly a hallmark of working class.
Reply
My local paper also pegged the number of houses Biden owns at 9. So, if he has been a Senator forever, and his background is "working class", how did he come to have so many assets?

I totally disagree with Obama's choice. His message of change and change in the way Washington works does not sit well by selecting a Washington insider for 35 years.
Reply
Further, I would never pick someone who has trashed me in the primaries. It will be fodder for scum bags like McCain to use Biden's criticisms of Obama.
Bad Choice.-

Until McCain picks Romney.
Reply
Its a trap... now McCain cannot pick the most popular choice for Vice-President because he's already shot his load. By pouncing on the trashing of Obama by Biden already, that gives Obama waaaay more ammunition to hit McCain with if he picks Romney. This basically leaves McCain with relatively sub-standard choices, at least on the major names that have been bandied about. He might even be forced into picking Huckabee to placate the base, and McCain doesn't want that. He may also pick Ridge; his pro-choice stance hurts him quite a bit with the base, though. I think McCain will be picking a dark horse... Palin comes to mind.
The entire pick by Obama was a massive trap. Does that make you feel better about it? -

Well Nikki. Here's how I see it: Biden may have been in Washington for 35 years, but he is not an insider in the truest sense. He's never let Washington influence his decisions or the way he chooses to live his life. In fact, he obviously made a conscience decision a long time ago, to leave Washington where it is and go home ot his family in Delaware every chance he got! That speaks volumes to me about where his head is at!
Reply
As for him trashing Obama in the primaries...there isn't any one of the candidates in either party who didn't trash each other to some extent. It's unfortunately, goes with the art of competition. The difference to me between a ruthless politician and one with some scruples is the ability to fight fair, and I do think Biden did that. He did stoop to some of the truly objectionable tactics of Hillary Clinton and her supporters, he simply stated that he did not believe (at the time) that Barack was ready for the presidency, but that he could be. That is not a totally negative statement. Further, as he has observed Senator Obama's brilliant campaign strategies, his strength, judgment, level-headedness and ability to rise above all the obstacles thrown his way, Biden has said that he now realizes that Barack Obama is THE BEST person to lead this country forward. In essence, Joe Biden has admitted that he misjudged Obama initially (like many people did and many still do), but after more than a year and a half of observing him, he has come to the conclusion that Barack Obama is not only qualified to run this country, he is THE BEST QUALIFIED to run it! Such an admission takes honesty, humility, and guts! -

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but let's consider the whole insider/outsider tableau for a minute. Carter was hailed as--and truly was--an outsider. But he got nowhere with a Democratic Capitol Hill. Considering that, and the emptiness of this rhetoric since the Carter years, I no longer think it's practical to focus on the beltway as the appropriate delimiter.
Besides, even if one is truly an outsider, he or she must still work with the insiders.
I think what the average American wants--regardless of party or ideological bent--is a no-more-business-as-usual kind of candidate. Whether or not you agree, how would you assess the Obama-Biden ticket on such terms?
To me it seems we're going to get business as usual regardless of who wins.

Why would we trust Obama's judgement when he can't even remember where he lived for a few years while in college at Columbia in New York. He also, can't remember that he is not an African American but rather a White African American. Why does he hate his white side? Maybe he had a white affair while in Columbia and it left him wounded for life. Who did he follow to CHICAGO?

Why would we read a post that asks questions unworthy of a stranger in an alley offering us a bag of candy?

Obama can remember exactly who he is; you, on the other hand, seem to be trying to forget.
Does Obama remind you of someone?
Who was the mysterious person you imagined Obama following to chicago? Was it you?
Do you want it to have been you?
Do you have a bag of candy?

I think this guy is playing we all United States citizens. He didn’t pick the right or the wrong person he just want to tell to Americans that 911(Sept.11) is not complied, If he wins the White House this November the all United States citizens will be under Obama-bin under control and the (Sept. 11) attack is complied. The War is just staring. God bless America.

An inability to express oneself in correct grammar, does not mean one is wrong; but it puts your ability to analyze a situation into doubt.

When you combine bad grammar with babbling delusion, you get something special, - the right-wing-rave.
Post more. But type faster; the war is staring at us and we have no time for punctuation before the attack is complied.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think at least Obama took the best of the old. I also think the two can provide each other with balance. Some of the best rock groups had members who didn't get along very well, but produced their best music as a result of having to work it out with each other.

This was an intellingent choice showing he had the interests of the country at heart since he chose someone who had the tools to round him out as in foreign policy..Once they start debating it will be obvious the choice was right..He also brings great strength with his knowledge of how the senate works from his many years there and all the contacts he has made. This may come on handy when it comes time to approach the body abour legislation...Even if it must start in the house it has to end in the senate.

Now McCains Choice might make a difference as to whether it is a close race or whether Obama wins at all.We All must remember no matter whose side we are on how close the race is.McCain has some really good people on his short list if the internet is to be believed..others on the list for example Rudy Guiliani would just bring him down in my opinion. -

I don't understand how anyone could even hope or expect Hillary to have been chosen after the scurlious manner in which she campaigned against Barrack. Her negative attack campaign was out of Karl Rove's play book and it has given the GOP a jump on their usual negative campaign.Should Obama lose the election because of these tactics, the majority of democrats and Obama supporters will never forgive her for her selfish, disloyal, shortsighted, and reprehensible conduct. As I see it, she put her personal ambitions clearly ahead of her nation's best interests. Some of us will not forget that.

I think Biden was a good choice; as long as he keeps his remarks in check. He has the propensity to become a wind bag, which only turns people off. Otherwise, he can be a great asset.-

Leading force in the "War on Drugs" that has made the USA the number one imprisoner of its own citizens -
Passionate supporter of the Iraq war, early on - coauthored the original bill to allow Bush to invade Iraq. When Bush balked (he wanted even more power than the bill gave him,) Biden voted for the broader bill.
He was the most enthusiastic democratic supporter of the 2005 legislation"overhauling" personal bankrupcy laws.
In fact, the real news here is that so many liberals are enthusing about the selection of a candidate that stands opposed to most everything they espouse. -
