What on earth makes you think you can dictate who has a right to an opinion here? You think Americans can just push their views and agenda all over the world but no one else has the right to express an opinion of us unless it's positive? Get a grip, Endo.

"I`m saved and forgiven."
These Republicans have twisted God`s words into an agenda of hate & smear in God`s name, because they `know` no matter how much they steal, kill, pillage, betray their nation, cheat on their wives, or lie between Monday and Saturday they will get forgiven for everything for staying awake an hour in Church on Sunday.
McCain, Bush, and others are the exact reason that people like myself left the Christian Church. The hypocrisy and little more than skin-deep understanding or acceptance of religion left me disgusted.-

It is what I read every time there is a question about Christianity or evolution on this board. The Liberal atheists go round and round saying how ignorant Christian are and how smart they are for not falling for that. How evolution has been proved over and over and anybody saying something different is such a fool.
Reply
I have seen that many times. Round and round and round ... They are smart and Christians are evil and stupid. How obvious everything is.
Been there and done that many times. Are you one of those. Facts are meaningless if they don't support your ideas.

According to your version of the Bible. However, there are other religions that claim Jesus was just another prophet.

The Bible was written by 70 to 90 AD and the churches selected the books by 100 to 150 AD. A test of whether it was cannon is if it was written by an apostle or someone under an apostle. That way accuracy was certified. That means that Jesus did and said what is in the New Testament. Other religions can say what they want but it is what Jesus said and did that counts.
Give me the wh ore reference. I have never heard of that one. Of course people who never study it say lots of things that are not in the Bible.
The Gnostic and other counterfeit gospels were written starting about 200 AD. One purporting to be Gospel was written in Muslim Spain. That is known by the trees, names of places, and other evidence in the writings. All of these writing were declared heretical by the Christian church as they came out. One Elder had read the first part of one and praised to but when given the rest of it totally rejected it. Somehow that rejection keeps being ignored by the different groups adhering to it.
Muslims have a problem. The Quran says that the books of Moses, the Psalms, and the Gospels are from God and are to be believed and are part of the holy books of Islam. The Quran says that the Christian trinity is God, Jesus and Mary mother of Jesus. The Quran says that Jesus did not die on the cross and was not part of God. Muhammad was married to a couple of women who were adherents to some of the Gnostic writings saying these things. A couple hundred years later Muslims come into contact with the Bible writings and ever since have been saying they have been changed despite evidence to the contrary.
For hitting .250 McCain is doing well in the polls. Try again.

--That is among the questions that I've been asking myself the last 8 years as Republicans edge closer and closer to creating the back-alley-abortion America of their dreams, AML. Where are all the women (and segments of America) that have seen their rights rolled back and their economic security weakened.
Sadly, though, I think part of the answer lies almost literally in my own back yard here in Washington DC where I live and where the HIV rate is the highest in the entire US (and, ironically, where our country's laws are made) and women and minorities make up 81% of new cases each year. I can't speak for those with HIV/AIDS but I do know that when people face serious health and financial concerns, informing themselves politically tends to be very low on their list of priorities. In fact, this is one of the reasons I get so depressed when I hear about "abstinence only" programs being foisted on people who often don't know when their next meal will be or whether they will be alive tomorrow.
And one would have to be brain-dead not to know that Republicans are aware of such weaknesses. How could they not when their priorities are things like making sure that *they* can have access to as many guns as possible? Who could possibly not see this?-

Listen to mesodude complain about the ONLY known method of preventing the transmission of STD's. Other than abstinence how do you prevent the spread of it?
Reply
Facts about condoms
12 to 15 % failure rate with normal use
Some STD's go through the wall of the condom
So mesodude. What method other than having a lifelong sexual partner who is faithful to you is there to avoid STD's? Understanding the facts what would you tell your daughter? Mine got herpes and pregnant using the safe sex that is promoted by people like you. I told her what the evidence was but she decided to believe people like you. With this in mind who are the brain dead ones. Consumer Reports gives statistics on condom failure rates. Or just Google it.-

Focus, please...I said "abstinence only" programs were unrealistic particularly in situations where you're lecturing to people who fear they may not have long to live and/or don't know where their next meal is coming from. I don't address your post beyond the first paragraph because I was never making any point about condoms or monogamy.-

Reply
There are a lot of people that fear they might not have long to live.
What groups are they in?
We have so many welfare programs coming out of the war on poverty and they have been added to many times. There are ways to have food and places to live with all of the welfare programs. In addition there are a lot of Christian organizations that work with these types of people that fall through the cracks of our welfare system. Most of the homeless are there because they want to be or refuse to do what is required.-

"So you the great liberal think that there are lots people in the US that don't know where their next meal is coming from?z'
Reply
--I'm sure of it. I volunteer at a couple of local shelters which have meal programs for the homeless and over the last couple of years many community and faith based programs in my region have seen their donations decrease or dry up entirely. These are programs which actually supplement government programs (which have seen a rise in number of applicants for things like food stamps and energy assistance). I also know people who get food stamps who regularly have them terminated because they sometimes aren't able to reapply in a timely fashion. But there are also people who don't fall into neat categories. Runaways, prostitutes, drug addicts, runaways and those who have been rejected by their family members (particularly gay lesbian and transgender teens).
"Most of the homeless are there because they want to be or refuse to do what is required."
That is a myth and I partially explain why in the first part of my post.-

You are not the only one working with these people. There are people that help people get their applications in on time. The big problem with a lot of giveaway programs is once the start it is hard to stop them. The ones like you are talking about are the exception. Been there done that. Why do you think that liberals are the only ones who help people? Statistics show that Liberals like to talk and Conservative like to do. There is about a 5 to 1 ratio of Conservative giving to Liberal giving to charities that deal with these things.
Reply
The problem with runaways is they are afraid of the government so they avoid getting the help that is available. The man might send them back. Prostitutes and drug addicts can get help but they usually end back where they were. Give a drug addict money and they will buy drugs. Give them a lot of other things and they will sell it for drugs. Send them through rehab and most of the time they are right back where they were. The large majority of the homeless are the mentally incompetent. The problem is they belong in mental hospitals. They can't be forced to stay there unless they are an immediate danger to themselves or others. The key word being immediate. If they don't qualify under that then if they want out the the hospital is forced to let them out. Write your law makers about this travesty.

Don't know what exactly motivated Obama to pick biden as his VP rather than Hillary. She certainly has many supporters. But, as was endlessly pointed out by the politicl pundits, she brought many negatives too. If politics is the art of the possible, I'm not sure Hillary ever achieved that status.

No. I think it's been mostly the sleaze media encouraging and exaggerating tensions (particularly racial ones) between the different groups of Democratic supporters and across party lines. Every time I see one of these stories about race (why doesn't the media flood the airways with stories about exploring race relations every year during Back History Month?), I ask myself the question "who across the world watching our election process right now actually believes we're in Iraq to create democracy?" We know our own citizens aren't very bright but why do we not apparently realize or care that nations where the average IQ is way higher than ours are watching us and asking themselves why they are sending their citizens to die in wars on our behalf. That's what I would be asking. ;-(

I think this phenomenon is more wishful thinking than anything. Why are Republicans pushing the idea that Republicans are all willing to forgive and forget all the ways McCain has betrayed them over the years but Democrats who supported Hillary will all stay home, pout, and hold their breath merely because they didn't get the candidate of their choice (who happens to differ very little from Clinton ideologically speaking)?

I originally supported Edwards, Hillary was my second choice and Obama was my third. The point is, I liked ALL of the Democratic party candidates and would have been fine with any of them in the White House (even Edwards, still). McCain not only was a serial womanizer and adulterer, he threw his wife and mother of three under the bus the first chance he got. Then he had an affair with Vicki Iseman while she was lobbying McCain over Paxson Broadcasting. McCain tried to interfere with the FCC ruling on Paxson in return.
McCain is the Republican nominee for president. If that is anything to judge by, Edwards should be a Republican and run for Emperor of the Galaxy cause he may have had an affair but he sure didn`t dump his wife and family over it, and he did not do it with so many women while married.

No real substance to anything he has to say. Maybe because he has his campaign people making these riduclous ads and all he has to say is "I'm John McCain and I endorse this ad"... In the meantime, none of the major issues facing this country get mentioned by McCain other than his wanting to drill, drill, and drill some more.

If Hussein becomes president, none of the liberal bills will ever pass Congress, just as how they are not passing now. The Republicans will fillibuster them. That will be 4 years of Hussein policy. Promises to the american people will be failure. 800 billion dollars for Africa is useless talk. Chef, then you don't know John McCain. The main reason most of the right doesn't care that much for McCain is his McCain Finegold-Incumbent reform act. I'm sorry Campaign Finance bill. It restricts the rights of the larger firms yet gives guys like Soros incredible freedoms to create fake organizations to run spots against candidates. What's worse, these organizations can lie without fear of retribution. As fast as they appear they can disappear without giving a true accounting or getting sued.

His stand on life is commendable. Cindy and he have shown that with the adoption of their daughter. How many other politicians went to Africa, picked a child destine to die from starvation and make that child a part of their family. All without the press coverage and PR. No offense to Obama but if he did that you'd see story after story praising him. In this case, I've never seen this in the press. I've met the McCain family several years ago and was surprised that no one really discussed this. McCain is the one that stopped it. "It's a private matter." That takes a big man, far bigger than most of us here including me. No offense.-

So when do we start taking care of the unwanted 'AMERICAN" children? Who takes care of them? Not McCain!!!!!!!!! He doesn't want women to have the right to choose not to bring unwanted life into the world, but he'll go to Africa and adopt? He doesn't want to provide money for childrens health care, and in a time when more women are raising children on thier own because of dead beat dads who just wanted the fun, thinks women don't deserve the money men make. So come on, we aren't taking care of enough foreigners yet? There aren't millions of unwanted children right here in the Country you are suppose to be fully and solely dedicated to? Our troops are the foundation of the destabilization in Iraq. Unfortunate but true. That`s what happens when you invade a country. This should not be news to anyone, except maybe **** `they`ll welcome us with flowers and hugs` Cheney.
McCain does not want to bring attention to his children because he does not want unwanted attention on his children, like any parent should. That does not take a big man, specially not bigger than me. Maybe bigger than you though, that`s up to you.
The other reason McCain probably does not want attention brought to his kids is because it will only remind everyone that he is/was a horrible adulterer who not only cheated on his wife, but threw the mother of his children under the bus for a home-wrecker heiress. Even Clinton did not do that! Takes a big man to hide that fact. lol. -

Much of the challenge with the War on Terror was over shadowed by Iraq. AlQueada's biggest mistake since 9-11 was to send a huge number of their fighters to support Iraq's AlQueada. On our part, our government is doing a pretty good job stopping domestic attacks. Well as far as we know there hasn't been another attack.
