It's time for the Conventions! These events are like the Olympics, but not quite: The Olympics had big bright fireworks, embarrassing government control, and widespread doping. But the Conventions will have big bright balloons, embarrassing corporate control, and widespread drinking. Uncle Jay explains it all!

I was tall enough not to need platform shoes but I did own a members only jacket which I thought at the time was the coolest piece of clothing I'd ever worn.
I traded the horn rims in for some wire rim photo grays in 8th grade. Too stylin'!

There's always been an Uncle Jay at every stage of our lives.

I still remember the speech by LBJ's beagle. At least I think I do.

            As the song went,

            For four more happy years
            Just pull your beagle's ears
And tell us an elephant joke.

I think the beagle's name was "Fala", or maybe that was Roosevelt's dog, that's it ! Sure takes me back to my teen years, walking to school in three feet of snow, no shoes and all and uphill both ways..

Think that LBJ's beagle was "Him". I remember those three feet of snow. But had shoes and there wasn't much walking to school--the bus had been invented by then. There were plenty of hills, my living in central PA. When big snows hit, everything would stop for a day until people dug themselves out. Then life would resume. But Spring flooding was an annual ritual.

Boy, do I remember those 3 foot August snowfalls! The only thing worse than the snow was the giant mosquitoes.
              .
How come Uncle Jay's high school picture looks like mine?

It's much better than when Uncle Di*k explains the news! He says the giant mosquitoes are terrorists and the the snow is homosexual. The drifts were shoveled there by liberals!!!
