Fox 'News' Taunts Convention Demonstrators; They Respond With On-Air Chants of 'F*** Fox News' »
Posted By jovial 10 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsThe following video report, as seen live on Fox "News" yesterday, demonstrates that the far-right "news" channel has no clue what the words "raucous", "out of control" or "freedom of speech" actually mean, as "reporter" Griff Jenkins is seen taunting DNC Convention demonstrators, only to receive chants of "F*** Fox News", live on air, in the bargain...

The reporter asked them what their message was and what they wanted to say. And the blogger said he was taunting them. That is ridiculous. They didn't respond to what he was asking.

Nice to watch a nazi network like Fox News report on the demonstrators. How twisted is that?
Reply
The good news is that FOX's ratings are consistently dropping. They will have to hire CNN Wolf Blitzer to bring it back to the right wing.-

They seemed a little surprised @ the crowds reaction to them. LMAO! That's what happens when you leave the la la world of faux news, and step into reality. LOLOL! They've done such a good job of creating a parallel universe, they haven't a clue!

Sounds more like the demonstraters were the Nazis, showing how tasteful the language of a left wing lynch mob can be.

What a goof ball that reporter is! "Don't you believe in freedom of speech"...."don't you believe in freedom of speech"......"don't you believe in freedom of speech"......Good lord! He doesn't dictate when people talk, or about what. That isn't "freedom of speech." How old is he? Twelve?

And LOL @ "F88k Fox News!" Now THAT is freedom of speech, ya goofy 'reporter' you. -

A 6 minute video update was added by a bradblog member. I take it that this reporter picked the wrong group to interview.

I am sure it was Fox's deliberate intention to create some news; to send in their people and get the crowd to start swinging, maybe get a riot going and then have the cops come in and bust everyone while the high-price comentators played old clipsof the 68 riot.
Reply
It didn't work that way.
And everyone is a cameraman now.

I don't like the slant that fox came out with on this. Comparing it to a riot?! That's a little over the top---but that's fox.
Reply
To be fair I'm glad I wasn't there and I think the crowd behaved badly as well. I've been to many demonstrations in Portland and our crowds have yet to act like this. I was very uncomfortable watching.-

jovial10 months, 2 weeks ago
Maybe it would be "nicer" for them to just start a libelous email and spread the word through the internet. Or maybe let themselves be interviewed only to find out later that the tape has been edited to make them out to be violent buffoons. The people that walk those protest lines are well aware of the antics of Fox News. They have the right to not be interviewed by people that they don't want to be interviewed by. That includes telling someone not so politely to **** off!

tehranchik10 months, 2 weeks ago
From what I watched, fox won't have to edit the tape. They were acting like buffoons. Fox got exactly the footage they were hoping for. I'm sure the horrors of it are all over the news.

I agree jordan. There are probably thousands that would like to scream out in frustration. But look at the footage---look at it from a different point of view. You aren't right or left--democrat or republican----it's not very appealing. If I were on the fence--this might make me jump to the other side. Please don't misunderstand me. No one likes fox and their bias less than I do. I just don't like to be represented by a crowd out of control like this one was.

I'm the veteran of quite a few protests as well. Haven't seen the video, Bradsblog is down at present, but considering the status quo, dropping the f-bomb is at best faint damnation.
The problem with actions like this, IMO, is not that they are crusty or rough around the edges, it is that it is at its heart poor strategy, in that we gather with might inferior to that of the state to meet the state head-on. Better that we end-run the state, build local economies, drop out of the global, teach kids that war is a racket, etc. Our present state is FUBAR, and that means F'd up beyond all reform. So lets stop trying to reform it. Build something better that does what the state is supposed to, and the state will wither.
All that being said, its still good to hit the streets periodically to loudly dissent, just so people see that they CAN still dissent without being whisked away to Gitmo. -

There are two models of protest. The first is that you behave like proper little ladies and gentlemen and tailor your message to be bland and palatable to those who are sitting on their sofas watching the telly.
The second says that social change becomes inevitable when the status quo becomes unbearable, and it is bringing the strife, bringing the upset, shock, distress that helps that happen. Thinking back to the civil rights era and the Vietnam years, this latter model seems to have some validity. -

Was the guy beatened and then arrested for threatening Cheney with the F-bomb? Something similar happened to a man at a mall who told Cheney he didn't support his war in Iraq nor his other policies and Cheney had his secret police, oh, I mean secret service, grab the guy and arrest him in front of his little daughter.

It's an old trick to incite a riot in your oponents meetings.
Reply
Or for newspeople to incite a crowd; shouting people make better news than calm people.
I have read that Martin Luther King worked to train marchers not to be provoked; whether they were spat on, shouted in the face, or even cattle prodded; they were not to strike back, not to riot, to stay on the march.
It was control; it made them strong, and denied a lot of good film footage to his enemies. -

Oh, if Reagan would not have vetoed the Truth in Telecommunications Act... we would never have seen such deceitful and outright unfair news as Faux Fox Facts!

Why the regular fox viewers are right on general facts only about 35% of the time... worst of any regular news viewers in America (2003 PIPA Study).-

schmirt10 months, 2 weeks ago
I m afraid the level of facts right for viewers for any newscast would not be very high if I choose the facts to quiz. I saw the study and it appears some of the questions were themselves based on some false premises themselves. The study was discredited and it is funny that the results cannot be duplicated reliably. Of course, new permutations of such studies are attempted until the results confirm the bias of the test organizer---no matter how many other results are discarded.

Frankly, the level of knowledge for most viewers of ANY network are not that impressive.

Among the posters on Propeller he is a giant of the qualities you disdain.
Picture him as Gulliver, sitting on the beach of Lilliput, and telling jokes to a mob of miniscule, unimportant people you'd probably stamp on.
But it's a crowded beach, tonyb. There are a LOT of us angry little unsophisticates about this year.
And don't laugh; you didn't get the joke, and it wasn't meant for you anyway.

II am sure the take on the story would be completely different if the crowd were prolife protesters and the reporters were not fox news. (See how awful those right wingers are?). One persons crowd of protesters may be anothers mob of 'brown shirts'.
Reply
Perhaps the reporter "taunts" . How aweful!! A group that protests----chants, cheers, outrage' insults, blocking areas---are all elements to disrupt the order/ status quo. It is a mass "taunt". And if you dont buy that, just talk to police who do crowd control. It s all about "taunting".
The resort to obscenity just reflects to level of discourse---usually to make a point . But it is actually a failure because the point is lost. The expressions sabotage the message.
Its funny how people channel thier hatred to fox news---all of network news isa cesspool.-

Lloyd, I agree. I think Planned Parenthood should take a bunch of photos of this group of youth. Present this to the ultra right wing of my party and you're likely to get us to support all methods of birth control and sterilization. Never thought, looking at this group that de-evolution was possible. Time to start thinning the gene pool.
