They said in the 2nd video why they didn't want the reporter to talk to them. The reporter said "I'm trying to give you equal time" and they stated that they don't want Fox to pick and choose their clips like they do and spin it to make them look bad. I don't blame them. FOX isn't news, it is a circus... but CNN isn't much better.

No, actually I think it's cons who think that the right to freedom of speech means the right to say anything THEY want without being criticized. Cons have a very, very warped concept of freedom of speech which, I think, is the main reason cons are always so fearful, spoiling to see others fight and extremely eager to get their hands on guns. For some reason they don't get the connection between living their lives to antagonize others just for the hell of it and the fact that people despise and want to do major harm to them. Cons just can't seem to make that leap in logic. If only... ;-(-

If this reporter really wanted to know what their message was, he would have arranged for proper interviews or approached them in their staging area. Wading into a bunch of chanting protesters is a GREAT way to get the sort of chaotic footage Fox adores, but don't try to paint this as a reporter 'just trying to get to the truth'.

Liberal biased news media is sinking. Why do you think CNN has changed their focus to a more moderate point. With FOX and CNN their news departments generate revenue for the rest of the programming by having top ratings. The MSM though have just felt that the news department is not a revenue generating department. The liberal standard that all follow is slowly sinking. The New York Times keeps losing subscribers. If they want to get new readers they need to change their focus. Somehow I don't think they will and they will slowly fade away into insignificance.-

What I saw was a peaceful pre-approved march. Then this guy moves into the middle of it getting in peoples way reaching and grabbing them to talk. They ignored him at first. Did you see how he got in the way of the banner carriers? He was disrupting the march. Those people had to keep moving. There are rules for these things. Then they started venting peacefully but vocally. Good for them. The words and gestures were designed to do 2 things. (1) vent (2) Obscenity isn't allowed on television, so they were depriving him of his footage. Faux noise violated the law by showing it anyway.

You'll have to be more specific. I'm talking about protest marches where the organizers have permits and trained parade marshals are interspersed through out the march. There have been a number of marches where provocateurs have started trouble and the police attacked the demonstrators (and in some cases bystanders). There have been others where riots have occurred that had nothing to do with protest marches. Can't really reply to you if I don't know what you're talking about.

Tens of thousand of draftees had been killed in Vietnam. The Anti-War candidate had been murdered. Those protesters in the 60's planned to riot if confronted by police. The police went way overboard.

I didn't see a crowd out of control. I saw a crowd saying enough is enough. The people that see a raucous group aren't in touch with what a real protest consists of. Fox News is one of the main media services that have lambasted candidates, Senators, Congressmen, etc. To think that they will give you more respect if you are civil with them, is disingenuos. There were various reporters out there. They didn't say f*** NBC or ABC or CNN or NPR. They recognize who wishes them ill, and they have every right ot say NO. NO more! It's the right of every citizen in the U.S. to speak their mind. The original intent of this reporter was to minimalize these citizens message. To make them seem like nuts. I have seen the main guy talking before on( I think) the Colbert Report. He is a rapper who collect something like 600,000 signatures protesting faux noise reporting. Faux noise refused to accept them when they were dropped on their doorstep. If you listen you can hear him talking about it. Then came the chants. Yeah, that's a real out of control mob there. There were plenty of police there watching it all, and they didn't see anything worthy of action.

I'm the veteran of quite a few protests as well. Haven't seen the video, Bradsblog is down at present, but considering the status quo, dropping the f-bomb is at best faint damnation.
The problem with actions like this, IMO, is not that they are crusty or rough around the edges, it is that it is at its heart poor strategy, in that we gather with might inferior to that of the state to meet the state head-on. Better that we end-run the state, build local economies, drop out of the global, teach kids that war is a racket, etc. Our present state is FUBAR, and that means F'd up beyond all reform. So lets stop trying to reform it. Build something better that does what the state is supposed to, and the state will wither.
All that being said, its still good to hit the streets periodically to loudly dissent, just so people see that they CAN still dissent without being whisked away to Gitmo. -

There are two models of protest. The first is that you behave like proper little ladies and gentlemen and tailor your message to be bland and palatable to those who are sitting on their sofas watching the telly.
The second says that social change becomes inevitable when the status quo becomes unbearable, and it is bringing the strife, bringing the upset, shock, distress that helps that happen. Thinking back to the civil rights era and the Vietnam years, this latter model seems to have some validity.-

The most astonishing was flipping to Fox at the close last night
- for the record, I NEVER do that and groaned. My hubby said it
is important just to find out what the extreme rights talking points

I have read that Martin Luther King worked to train marchers not to be provoked; whether they were spat on, shouted in the face, or even cattle prodded; they were not to strike back, not to riot, to stay on the march.
It was control; it made them strong, and denied a lot of good film footage to his enemies. -

Dude, the reporter waded into the middle of a demonstration march and started hollering, "Don't you believe in freedom of speech?" when the protesters didn't want to stop and talk to him. It was a MARCH, of course they didn't want to stop. Griff was walking against the flow of the crowd in what looked like the densest part. The man was spoiling for a confrontation.

According to broadcast law, faux noise would not have been able to show that footage. But they did anyway. Faux noise broke the law by attempting to disrupt a legal, peaceful march, and then showing footage on television that is against the law

Quite right. Jovial did not post the story as a joke. He posted it as serious evidence on the table, for the jury to see that those we accuse of fraud, malice and hypocricy are indeed guilty.
It's a long trial, and will go on past all our lives.
But the joke, Tony; it was there. It is there. I would explain it to you out of pity, but it would do no good. If you feed a starving dog bread, he still starves.
Best I can say is, look at old pictures of freedom fighters; MLK or Lech Walesa or Lincoln, Ben Franklin or Ghandi or whoever you admit stood up against a system that had the cameras, the spokesmen, the broadcast towers, - against a system that had every power but the truth.
Do Lincoln.
Look close at the eyes, the corner of the mouth.
See the hint of a laugh?
The joke is there, for those who hear it.
Pancho Villa called it democracy, and no one laughed like Villa.
But like I said, the joke isn't for eveyone.

Perhaps the reporter "taunts" . How aweful!! A group that protests----chants, cheers, outrage' insults, blocking areas---are all elements to disrupt the order/ status quo. It is a mass "taunt". And if you dont buy that, just talk to police who do crowd control. It s all about "taunting".
The resort to obscenity just reflects to level of discourse---usually to make a point . But it is actually a failure because the point is lost. The expressions sabotage the message.

Lloyd, I agree. I think Planned Parenthood should take a bunch of photos of this group of youth. Present this to the ultra right wing of my party and you're likely to get us to support all methods of birth control and sterilization. Her Perkiness refers to Sadam "hopefully" escaping capture. They shared her hope.
We can point to dozens if not hundreds of examples of leftist/Democrat media bias with absolutely no conservative/Republican counterbalance, and they're like, "Isn't that the way it's supposed to be?" Yet they are oblivious to the repeated appearances on Fox by liberals such as Juan Williams, Ellen Ratner, or Mora Liasson--just for starters--who consistently reflect liberal perspectives.

Quite the contrary. The Dan Rather thing had major repercussions on Mr. Rather. Read up on it. I'll say it again. Google "nas" and "600000". They tried to let Fox News know why thy felt this way in a "peaceful manner". Fox News totally ignored them. They were told F you first. They just replied in kind.

That is my point. FOX was put on the air to counter CNN, MSNBC, et al. I think ALL media outlets go too far in pushing an agenda, right or left. There was no liberal overall left leaning slant on CNN, MSNBC and others they went in both directions. CNN has Glenn Beck. MSNBC has Tucker Carlson. Fox has Colmes. He shares the show with Hannitty. who by the way, is the real owner of the show. When Colmes is away on vacation, I've seen times where they replaced him with a person that just sits there and totally agrees with all of Hannity's points without argument. It's sickening to see.

This is just simply amazing. I watched the videos and came to the conclusion that this "reporter" should have kept his opinion to himself ( as should ALL "reporters") and simply reported on the march. The "protesters" didn't seem to be protesting much of anything if they would not use this opportunity to have their voice heard on an INTERNATIONAL cable network.

WE are the future of political change. It starts here with a grass roots movement to make this nation, the GREATEST nation on earth, a show case for positive change, beginning with how we treat EACH OTHER. Please read my submission entitled "America United?" and you will gain a deeper insight into my concerns for the direction this country is taking.
Diversity is to be celebrated, but diversity to the exclusion of communities and common goals for the common good is quickly destroying this country, and our standing in the eyes of the world.
This fact can be seen on a street level in most of our major cities, on a block by block basis. No longer do we have neighborhoods where ALL the children played together and the adults mingled on the stoops. Now each neighborhood gathers in cliques in different sections of the block. Whites over here, latinos here, blacks here, asians here, etc. Perhaps we should celebrate diversity less and community more.

I think people owe a lot to Fox News for actually covering this as news. The past few conventions have put protesters into twilight-zone protest areas that ghettoize their ideas and ideals. This makes them really easy for regular and cable networks to ignore.

The reason the protests of the 60's and 70's appeared on the news? Because the nets were trying to scare the American populace with the evil hippies. The reason the protests weren't covered anymore after the 80's? Because the nets decided that the country's homogenous image was being subverted. Hard to say "United we stand!" if you aren't pounding down those who disagree.

So quaint. So innocent. Not an ounce of guile. It inspires such a pastoral scene that one almost fails to notice the piles of corpses the "agrarian reformers" leave in their swath of destruction.
I think of Stalin's victims in Siberia, ernestly writing him letters begging for intervention, for justice, for their lives, attesting--truthfully--to their unblemished record of support for his regime. Letters that, if sent, were never opened. The very essence of futility--yet in the mind of lefties in the West--the horizon of hope toward which all mankind marches.
