I feared this would happen. I'm glad the plot was foiled. I see enough rabid hate on Propeller for Obama to know that this is a small tip of the iceberg, a microcosm of the ill will people still feel towards black people in America. I hope they get every one of them, but i fear that there might be too many. Up the security around Obama. These guys aren't just regular psychos, they're cunning and determined.

Please do NOT presume that we conservatives support the assassination of Obama. Besides the moral and sanctity of life issues are the practical ones. Biden would be no better and, in case of an Obama assassination, the riots of the summer of '68 would look like a love-in.

Yes, indeed. The sanctity of life is VERY important to conservatives. Except when those lives belong to American soldiers or non-combatant Iraqui citizens.
Reply
It would appear that when there is profit to be made, the sanctity of making huge piles of cash takes precedence.-

1. This war was Bipartisan and some of the dems just changed midstream
Reply
2. More abortions have been done than all the wars COMBINED and that is innocent life they have yet to do anything to warrant justice! We don't like war anymore than Democrats and if you go back in history Dems started plenty!
3. The war was not about huge piles of Cash, but as in all wars cash has to be involved otherwise the troops cannot be supported
4. Anytime cash is involved there will be some unscrupulous people take advantage of it; that does not mean that was the reason for the war
5. Collateral damage has never been the goal of the war; but there is always some and Iraqi's didn't help with this by tying bombs to children and using civilians to do combat, If you do that you make the civilians combatant and not distinguishable from military combatants

Well, if it turns out that they were going to assassinate Senator Obama, then that should justify why he needs alot of security. Also, no more people say that those who fear something like this are just trying to spread fear.-

I'm just going to guess one of the following:
Reply
1. I have divine powers.
2. Other spellings have been misspelled and, when spelled correctly, it is not censored.
Honestly, not sure, but number two is my best guess.
Lets see:
Assassinate (proper)
Asasinate (one misspelling)
Assasinate (another)
Asassinate (another)-
-

Mdiar1 year, 4 months ago
This comment is below the standard viewing threshold View It »
That seems the most likely explanation at this point.
Reply
However, I clearly remember writing assassinate before this point and it was not censored. Other members could not, which does lend credence to explanation number 2, as I do not know the spellings the other members used. It is one of those words people tend to forget certain letters in.

Divine powers, eh?
Reply
Then I can rain destruction from the heavens as I watch the pitiful mortals on the Earth below try to challenge my might? Or perhaps just use these powers for more positive, less fun things? Perhaps seek justice against peeping Toms or Johns, whatever there name may be?
On a more humorous note, I accidentally spelled divine as diving in my first posting, but I caught it. Perhaps I do have diving powers? Maybe I can bring US the gold in the next Olympics ;)

She swears it's not so, but who knows. Anywho... Tom told us on Spades thread that he was going to scour every complaint about sock puppets and that he would start banning them ASAP. Just a theory, but if she and Nixie are one and the same, maybe she preferred to keep the Nixie acct and to just close the AG one, OR.. Maybe she closed her acct and intends to come back with a new one. If she does, we will know, she can't camouflage her style well enough to keep anyone from knowing. THEN, maybe she was banned for real. People are tired of the rumor, innuendo, and flamming. We don't have to agree, but we don't have to act like a bunch of giddy high school kids either.

This could all just be a strategy by the Dems to neuter a McCain Presidency, as Congress holds the real power, for the most part, as long as they are controlled by one party. McCain remains a scapegoat for anything that goes wrong and the Dems rack up even bigger majorities by 2012, when they run someone to win it. Of course, I just think the Dems haven't been campaigning much, yet, while McCain had to dump loads of money before he becomes the nominee as he's accepting public funding.

Consequences of being the 'big tent'. Republicans generally march more in lock-step regarding their platform ('family values', pro-life, pro-gun, pro-church, pro-death penalty, anti-union, pro-mandatory sentencing, pro-privatization, pro-big business, etc.) Democrats tend to be a bit more like herding cats.

In any case, I don't think this incident surprised anyone considering the 24 hour per day spew of hate that continues to flow from extreme right wing talk show "entertainers".
True - intelligent people should know the difference, but there are a lot of far right extremeist wing nuts out there who take that fictitious nonsense as a directive.

Maybe the emotion that guides liberals makes them think conservatives are guided by emotion as well? VERY FEW conservatives HATE one politician or another. Our dislike for Clinton was due to his deeds and attitude - none of us wanted him killed. After all, he was our president too.-

And no, as a Marine, it isn't your job to die for the President, anymore than it would be to die for your General. Your job, if necessary, is to lay down your life for the Republic. It's bigger than any one man or woman. Your oath isn't to the President, it's to the Constitution. Never, ever forget that. I say that as one service veteran to another. I've been around Christians all my life and the only ones that tend to be a little racial tend to be Catholics, (Interestingly Barack picked one for his running mate) but for the most part Christians are LESS racial than almost any other segment of the populace! A good way to discover this is look at the cross section demographics of the Christian population and you will find that it is the one that is the most diverse! There are Christian Blacks,Russians,Chinese,Japanese,Polish,English, and almost every other race on Earth HOW could we be racist- Yes a few in the religion have a race problem but it is the FEW! I attend a Multi Cultural Church and would have it no other way.

What a backhanded slap to catholics. And as for your comment about less racist, I don't know, maybe I've been exposed to the wrong Christians. But from personal experience: I was once asked to join a certain Baptist church when I was a young boy. At the services I attended, I noticed that there were no blacks in the congregation, and when I asked how come, was told they don't belong in a white church but in their own church and besides, God did not favor them. When I told my parents what they told me, needless to say we never attended again. The irony was that I am half white and half asian and look more asian than white. I guess in their eyes asians were more acceptable than blacks.

I married an Catholic (she latter converted she never was prejudiced but may of her catholic associates were), it was not meant as a backhanded slap - just a Observation. My mom was a Baptist (Dad was Lutheran My wife and I are now with a Non denominational group) there are more than one group of Baptist in fact several. There are a few Baptist that have a distorted interpretation of a old testament passage where a curse was placed on a Black group (my mom was not with that group). That is why they made that comment to you. Where they went wrong was not all Blacks are from that tribe and many of us believe that the curse was under the blood of Jesus and no longer valid. BTW Baptist tend to have a large Black following. Another group I was with a Pentecostal group use to have muti-cultural services, but due to laws in some states there was some segregation that happened to maintain safety of the blacks during those times and the segregation never really melded back together.

He showed a disrespect for the office that many of us found insulting and upsetting. To name a few:
1) Using his Marine guards to serve refreshments (As a Marine, let me assure you that it is insulting).
2) Renting out the Lincoln Bedroom for campaign contributions like an upscale Motel 6.
3) Getting "action" in the Oval Office. - The room that Ronald Reagan would not enter without a tie due to his respect for it.
4) His dishonesty - lying to a Grand Jury and disregard for the judicial process.
5) Parsing words to the point that you couldn't count on his word. - What does IS mean?
NOBODY IS PERFECT, but Clinton portrayed himself as slightly above the law. Sleeping around... that's one thing, but being accused of rape three times makes one wonder if he's really so innocent. I'M NOT SAYING ANYTHING, but in the back of my mind, I will have some suspicions. As such, I just don't like the guy... and as a Marine, I would fight to the death to protect him. We Marines are odd, yes?-

Spin, i am a woman, and i know how the average woman thinks.
Reply
These women who accused Clinton of raping them are lying. They slept with him because he was a man in a powerful position, a nice looking one as well. They thought they were different and that he was going to leave Hillary for them, most women think they are special, different, and capable of being a mans dream woman. They were prettier, younger and sexier than Hillary, what's not to love about that? THEN the sh!t hits the fan. They find out they have been used, they are the woman scorned, and they lash out, fight back and the first thing to do is start making accusations.
I'm not saying Bill Clinton was a choir boy, he was a disgrace, but he didn't rape anyone. These women did what they did very willingly, then when they found out it wasn't going to get them the fame and recognition they so desired and they got revenge. Simple as that. -

I'd have to say the outright lies propagated against Obama have quite a bit to do with it:
Reply
A) He's a Muslim
B) He's not an American citizen
C) He was sworn in on the Koran
D) He won't say the Pledge of Allegiance
E) He won't put his hand over his heart for the national anthem
F) He's buddy-buddy with Farrakhan and Ayers
G) His former minister constantly preached 'Hate America' and 'Hate Whitey'
H) He wants to send $850 Billion to Africa
I) The fist jab exchanged with Michelle was a 'Terrorist Bump'
J) He's a Marxist
K) He's the anti-Christ
etc.
And yes, his skin color DOES have a lot to do with it.-

Rev Wright, had many sermons like that- maybe not constantly but I haven't heard any one say constantly either (Observers have said it was common). Associates with Ayer and Farrakhan yep Obama has been to Ayers house and accepted a $200 donation!, $850 million to Africa I don't know an amount but Obama did say he wanted to significantly increase the aid to Africa over President Bush (said so on national TV), Bush btw set records on aid to Africa. Personally I don't find this as a fault anyway! He's a Marxist - well he has never said so but Marxism is clearly about wealth redistribution which he is all about! - btw I've never called him a Marxist - but I understand why some might label him that. He's not a American- That is normally in reference to the right to the presidency which is still in question while not true in the strictest sense- we don't know yet for sure DO we? (a Pennsylvania man has some incriminating proof and has field suit I'll wait and see) He's a Muslim- may of may not be true there is allot on both sides of that issue Obama claims not. Personally I think 70% he's not (upgraded lately from 60%) but there is room for doubt. Won't put had over heart -originally that was true he changed (not a surprise) - he said why he didn't put his hand on his heart in that one instance was he didn't want to offend muslims and certain other people (I don't clearly remember what the 2nd case was, but it had to do with those who find America less than equal for all -again on national TV). He won't say the Pledge again this is pointing to the same incidence and he again changed for votes. Anti Christ I don't think so but allot on the left called GWB that also - both are wrong I HOPE. If one is we won't know for sure until its too late anyway. He was sworn in on the Koran- This one is false as far as I Know. The Michelle "terrorist bump" I don't think any of us could verify this either way for if it was I am sure it would be Confidential CIA/Homeland security stuff until fully proven at which time Obama would be carted off to Gitmo

Okay, I had a nice reply written up but Propeller ate it. Here it is in brief:
Reply
First of all, on the infamous "Pledge" incident... the only picture of him not with his hand over his heart while others have this isn't during the Pledge. Its during the National Anthem. He was unaware that you had to have your hand over your heart (I know quite a few who are) and I have seen photos of Bush without his hand over his heart and a few other people too. I don't recall an incident in which he refused to cite the Pledge.
Terrorist fist bump? The incident in question, and I hope this addresses any fears you have, is simply a common greeting among those under 25 years old. I have used it many times with my friends... there is nothing terrorist about it.
You are right, only one Senator has been sworn in on the Koran and it was not Senator Obama.
Marxist? Not really. More ideologies then Marxism believe in a more even distribution of the wealth. I'm further left then Sen. Obama is and not a Marxist, socialist or communist. Sen. Obama is probably best described as a progressive. I'm to the right of anarchists by a decent amount, but I'm more left then right (by far). If it comforts you, Obama is more right then left.
Obama is a citizen. The man who is bringing charges is also a person who believes Bush orchestrated 9/11. In fact, Corsi, author of "Obama Nation", believes the same and is a known racist. He's even been on white supremacist radio shows. Here is a link to the citizenship proof, if you wish to look over it:
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html
Ayres? Well, if its that important to you, yes, he did contribute 200 dollars. They taught at the same school. I myself even contributed to Sarah Steelman when she ran for Missouri governor because I attended school with her son. I didn't vote for her because she is not in line with my ideals, but I did donate. When you know someone decently, you may actually contribute just so you can say with a semi-straight face sometimes "I know the President" or "I know the Governor". Ayres and Obama are only acquaintances, to my knowledge. You may also check and see that the University they taught at was the primary framer of neoliberalism, a far right ideology, followed by Republican for the most part. Should we condemn this ideology because the University is connected to Ayres?
By the way, Obama has quite a few neoliberal advisers on economics and that ideology is soooo far from Marxism its not even funny. Another piece of evidence that he's not a Marxist.-

I misunderstood the terrorist bump thing-that is why I responded like I did- I thought it was meant as some way of passing a message for terrorist acts along not just a kind of secret handshake. The marxist thing I don't think he is, but I still can see why some might think that way. Karl Marx was for a commune type of arrangement where one would take what one needed from supply and no more. Sort of a socialist system. Won't work in the real world since man is greedy and would take extra anyway. Universal Health care kinda fits this philosophy. I for one would like to see some sort of Universal Health care anyway I think the positives outweigh the negs, but I do think the negs need managed and that is where it gets tricky.

I tend to agree. Obama is more of the classic mold of progressive, which tends to stay in the real world. The terrorist fist bump, if you see two kids bump fists, that's what they meant. It was rather ridiculous, I believe a reporter simply made an offhand comment on it and it turned into a big deal.
Reply
Universal health care is an interesting thing. It fits the progressive mold, which is such an American philosophy its sometimes called "American liberalism" and is what most western democracies follow. Obama supports a system less European (Actually, the European system is very American, some of the first legislation for it came from the United States but was not implemented) then what his opponents try to claim. It tries to capitalize on the strengths of each and the crux of it is making it affordable to all rather then simply providing it to all. In the past I've been split on a single payer system, but I started to think about it and research the numbers a bit and ultimately everyone saves money, except for the insurance companies. I figure alot of the employees of that industry can be used in a government run system, the people taking the biggest hit are those who have alot of money invested.

In this subject the fact that he is a Muslim apostate creates a problem. Muslims are supposed to kill them. A wacko Muslim believing he is doing Allah's work might decide to kill him. How about his family or any black or any liberal for that matter?
If they could disrupt the DNC convention and go down in history while killing some people they think are the enemy, they would probably consider their lives successes.
All we know is they were well armed with a scope and rifle, had a bullet proof vest, had the hate and the drugs necessary to pull the trigger. Not a legitimate threat on Obama`s life? I call that wishful thinking, but even if true, that does not mean this was not a legitimate threat on the lives of all of those at the convention.

This is both sad and happy news. It's sad that there are animals like this in our country who feel using violence to change the outcome of an election is proper. If tried and convicted, they should face the death penalty. This is a form of treason.

While not a fan of Senator Obama, I'm please to see he and his family were not bothered or hurt by them. A person's race, color and creed are immaterial to the election process. We Americans; Democrat, Republican, or independent support the concepts and dreams of democracy along with the peaceful transfer of power when one president's term ends and another begins.
It's time for us to be united against animals like this and take steps to end their threats. Use the threat of force against any elected official or citizen of this nation and face the hand of justice. -

Stooping to that level.
It was the Southern Democrats that had to keep the slaves.
They started the Civil war when an abolitionist was elected.
They were part of the KKK.
They were the ones in the south that did the horrible things to the blacks.
They fought tooth and nail to keep separate but equal.
They stood in the doorways of schools to try and stop desegregation.
The Democrats in Boston tried to turn over a buss loaded with black children being bussed.
That is your history Mr. Democrat. It is a sad one.

I'm surprised no one brought up gun control here. I don't want to be a conspiracy nut, but with the recent supreme court ruling on the 2nd amendment, this could be the sort of thing anti gun nuts might conjure up to get guns banned all together.

Even if not, I just fear incidents like this are going to lead to more people in prison for drugs, less personal rights, the disarmament of the civilian population, and more tax dollars wasted on enforcement of these policies. Leave it to the scum of society to get people worked up and demand that our rights be taken away - gangsters, supremacist groups, and other assorted nut jobs.
Apparently, I am turning Libertarian.
