For all the hoopla about division, the Democratic party isn't as petty and dumb as MSM has been claiming. They seem to easily see the bigger picture and easily, graciously unite putting any personal issues behind, and working toward the good of the nation. Kudos. Well done.

Yup. C-SPAN showed it all. There were lots of good speeches. Some of the speakers hesitated and stammered. But they were military people and not used to getting up in front of large crowds.

YOU MUST BE A REPUBLICAN (with apology to Foxworthy)
Reply
If you weren't inspired by the Kennedyisc line of "America leading the world with the power of example rather than the example of power" that Bill Clinton spoke, YOU MUST BE A REPUBLICAN that rules and leads by fear.
If you weren't moved by the inspiring story of Joe Biden's loss and sacrifice for family, YOU MUST BE A REPUBLICAN with no heart.
And if you can't wait to hear for Obama's call for change in his acceptance speech, YOU MUST BE A REPUBLICAN who's satisfied with the stagnation and decline of America by Bush and his surrogate McCain.-

What change? Obama has kowtowed to the same zionist DLC circles that gave us isreal-firsters like Liebeman. Obama has NOT shown the kind of leadership that our great presidents embody. Once again Americans are faced with choosing between bad and worse candidates sprung upon us by a corrupt elite.

JFK Was Enraged at 'Zionist Control' Effected by Campaign Contributions
.... 'As an American citizen he was outraged,' Bartlett recalled, 'to have a Zionist group come to him and say: "We know your campaign is in trouble. We're willing to pay your bills if you'll let us have control of your Middle East policy.'" Kennedy, as a presidential candidate, also resented the crudity with which he'd been approached. 'They wanted control,' he angrily told Bartlett....
... JFK wanted a nuclear-free near east with inspectors at Dimona and a resolution to the Palestinian refugee problem (which would be a policy based on American interests or perhaps even regional or international interests). I don't think his patrons liked those ideas much. they wanted a policy based on Israel's interests. and as they say, when you pay the piper, you call the tune....

Excellent speeches by both Clinton's. Let's take America back and make it the greatest Nation in the world which it has always been.

Excellent speech by Biden. Biden said it all, when he said Obama is right and has been all along. Al Qaeda and the Taliban have re grouped in Afghanistan and the mountain areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Iraq war needs to come to an end and the Iraqis need to take charge of their own country. People who still want to vote for McCain don't know anything about the Middle East regions, foreign politics, our economy, or our healthcare system which needs improvement. McCain will drive this country further into a recession, continue the Iraq war indefinetly, and ruin the greatest country in the world. -

It is a mystery to me why McCain is still in this race. For heavens sake, haven't the american people been abused enough over the last 8 years? Who the hell in their right mind would want another republican president at this time? The republicans don't like him either, but they must hold their nose and vote for this guy because they always vote party line.
Reply
If you can't figure it out Cons, maybe you should try to watch those speech reruns with a more open mind.
It was interesting to watch Faux News trash the events as they happened, it helped me understand why I don't want four more years of these mindless dweebs running our country.-

not2needy10 months, 1 week ago
I don't think republicans will think that Americans have been abused enough until they have every copper penny ever minted in their greedy little palms and turn the rest of us into slaves so they can start amassing foreign monies as well. Just my opinion, but i'm entitled to it, i guess.

Biden certainly isn't a great orator, and I still disagree about the whole Georgia thing, but I know I'm a small minority on that, so whatever. I don't really expect the VP who is supposed to bring 'strong National Security Credentials' to admit that there are 2 sides to the story. I'm not pro-Russia, don't know any Russians. But I am pro-objectivity, and I think the world has been subjected to good vs. evil absolutism for far too long. I would really like to see a world where everyone is an ally. Unfortunately, there's a very pervasive school of thought that says that you have to ally AGAINST something, when allying FOR something should be just as possible.

I think he seems like a good choice to ensure the vote, and I think he seems like a smart enough man to know where and when his voice is needed. American foreign interests are obviously a vital concern for the American government, and they should be. I think his voice will ensure that Obama doesn't get too focused on global good and forget the country that he represents.-

miklkit10 months, 1 week ago
The biggest clue that I got as to what was going on in Georgia was, when the Russians went in, the Georgians were saying "Where are the Americans?" like they were expecting us to back their play. We pulled our Marines out of there just before it all went to pieces. It looks like a setup, and the republicons have done this before.

The commentators on MSNBC stated that Biden had to mesh his speech with his own speech writer and the one supplied by Obama's campaign staff so it's understandable that he may have had a little trouble delivering his lines. But the substance and content to most of his speech was right on. Oh, maybe "right" is not the best word to use in this circumstance, maybe dead on is better. Well, you know what I mean.

jeez. i wander into this thread to look for thoughtful discussion of the speeches and find myself in a democratic masturbatorium.

i get it. you feel energized and powerful. good for you. in any of those speeches was anything substantive said? i could only stomache a few minutes at a time, but i saw nothing except the same thing i see cheerleaders do on the sidelines at a football game. dance and yell. yell and dance.
that Biden smile.... wasn't it the same one the alien offered at the end of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind?" i knew Spielberg was a dem, but i didn't know he was putting his characters up for office. for that matter, the way his neck is craned he looks like ET, another Spielberg creation. could be worse, S could have given us "Jaws" as a candidate. : )-

Sorry about all that masturbating, I know it's considered a sin in some "right-wing" religious circles, and even akin to abortion. But you ought to be glad. Because if we had been procreating we may have created many more babies that may grow up and vote democratic. -

Thanks for the constructive criticism but it would be more constructive if you gave us examples of superior speeches (particularly ones by those you've supported in the past) and then compared and contrasted examples. All you say in your post is that the speeches weren't meaningful. As far as I'm concerned, that could mean that you didn't comprehend them. What's criteria are you using or what bases of comparison. I look forward to a thoughtful discussion and exchange on the topic. ;-)

But, Bea, above, cheerleading is in part what the convention--what any convention--is about.

It's about rallying the troops, and in that regard the Dems behaved beautifully. Finally, it seemed as if the party stepped forward, without the whipped-puppy, going-in-multiple-directions-at-once affect/effect it's unfortunately too often prone to display.
Even O. seemed relaxed, happy and open. Let's hope this was the beginning of a new, non-looking-over-one's-shoulder beginning.-

I think the NEO-CON-victs have tripped over the psychological precipice into madness and desperation. They have created an irriversible, destructive economic, political and social vortex in America (which has engulfed all other nations as well) and they do not know how to get it under control. This may have been ‘part’ of their agenda, but I do not think it ‘was’ the entire plan. Not to this degree this swiftly, and along with the fact that many have been awakened to their evilness. Now, their left with the only option seen through the lens of madness, which is suicide. My prediction is they are going to attack Iran, first (before the elections, especially if it looks like McCain won’t win. Though in the long run it doesn’t matter.) Then, some kind of false-flag will be commited via-Georgia or some where in that region, and that will pull Russia into the fray. Either way these rabid-mad dogs seem hell bent on global suicide in lieu of global control.

Barack Obama could have done anything after he graduated from college. With all his talent and promise, he could have written his ticket to Wall Street. But that's not what he chose to do. He chose to go to Chicago.
