Romney and McCain had many good arguments against each other in the primaries. I hope that Romney is the choice. It would be hilarious to see McCain squirm at how he used Biden`s primary arguments against Obama but that the Dems using Romney statements against McCain are not fair.
Reply
Besides, Romney sucked in the Republican primary debates. He got his arse reamed. Who says he is good at debates? That has never been his forte. Romney forte is talking to a camera with no one around to challenge his BS. Of course that applies to the entire RW.-

Well, I've only seen McCain and Romney debate once, but the one I saw, McCain used some sort of statistic against Romney, and Romney countered with a seemingly endless barrage of statistics and facts against McCain and concluded with something like, "Facts are tricky things, Mr. McCain" or something to that effect. I was pretty impressed.

If you cons had any sense at all, you'd realize that in an election year strongly favoring Democrats, the worse the "Dem Congress" performs, the uglier November is going to turn out for Republicans. Once again, no matter which party is in control of Congress, the approval rating is a reflection of the job performance of the entire Congress. Republicans still poll worse than Democrats (partly because the GOP has spent the last two years record filibustering Democrats and partly because of Bush's disgraceful failure, shocking incompetence and the uncovering of more and more administrations lies and crime by the day). And why do you think you should be gloating over the fact that you're paying your elected officials to do nothing? That's kinda twisted, IMO. ;-(

Not a christian zionist israel-firster are you? Condi sold out America for her own personal profit long ago.

Condi Rice and the Neocon Plan for the Palestinians
... Condi Rice is likely the least qualified Secretary of State in recent history, especially considering her field of expertise is the Soviet Union, a political non-entity. However, since Washington is all about who you know--or suck up to--Rice is an appropriate selection for the Bushcons, considering she was a tenured professor of political science at Stanford, stomping grounds for the Hoover Institution, a neocon "public policy research center," on occasion referred to as Bush's "brain trust." Between 1985 and 1986, Condi was a national fellow at the Hoover Institution....
.... It should be remembered that Rice, as a Christian Zionist, disclosed a "deep bond to Israel" back in 2003. "I first visited Israel in 2000," Rice told the Jewish Press on May 13, 2003. "I already then felt that I am returning home despite the fact that this was a place I never visited. I have a deep affinity with Israel. I have always admired the history of the State of Israel and the hardness and determination of the people that founded it," apparently as well admiring the "hardness" of the Israeli settler movement, the crown jewel of all things Likudite. "I think that we, Israel and the U.S., share common values. Israel is the only democracy in the region," a democracy that has locked 2,896,000 Palestinians (as of 1997) into the world's largest open-air prison and has strived unhindered to further turn their shrinking geography into Bantustans....-

Of course, as a neocon acolyte, Condi Rice is not interested in peace in the Middle East, least of all between the Palestinians and Israelis, and even less so then her predecessor, who was often at odds with the Bushcon "crazies," as he so famously called them. Rice's Hoover Institution is closely aligned with other neocon foundations, including the Project for a New American Century and the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, the latter particularly rabid in its opposition to any meaningful resolution of the conflict--that is to say, Israel's theft and occupation of Palestinian land--and continually cranks out propaganda designed to demonize not only the Palestinians, but Arabs and Muslims in general....
Reply
...As should be obvious to all who pay attention, the Bush administration, in regard to the Middle East, is a mirror reflection of the Likudites in Israel, who are fanatically opposed to the establishment of a Palestinian state and will "adopt immediate stringent measures in the event of such a declaration," as their political platform states. As well, the colonization of the West Bank and Gaza "are the realization of Zionist values" and the theft of Palestinian land "is a clear expression of the unassailable right of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel ...

Actually I think what you saw exit the building was the imploding GOP's last desperate hope that Hillary would be on the ticket. So what we end up with on the one hand is a Presidential nominee who, after his first wife was badly injured in a car accident, treated her like an old used up flea infested mattress before cheating on her and then dumping her for a repulsive but obscenely wealthy bleach blonde drug-addicted shrew who applies make up by trowel each morning (and yet somehow manages to look even worse than she does without it) and on the other hand you have a VP nominee who lost his first wife and daughter in an terrible accident and went on to raise his two surviving children himself. Tough call. ;-x

Actually, on this there are valid reasons as to why its not possible. The population densities are quite different. Its not really that fair to force my closest city (which is an hour or so away and its not even a large one) to sustain a mass transit system for here. For the most part, in Europe, decently sized cities aren't that far apart. Here, I live in the biggest place within at least 50 miles and its a town with a grand population of 16,000.

In the Bosnywash area, it makes alot of sense though. As well as in most major metro areas.-

Thanks, Mdiar. I was comparing apples to apples. There are lots of urban areas across the country where the transportation system is decent to great (like here in DC where I live) but overall, I think we're slackers by comparison (because we're so addicted to our cars). For instance, we have our metro here but it's not really a true subway system (like in NYC which I think has one of the best systems I've ever travelled on) and it doesn't. Where is our high speed cross country rail system comparable to those in other industrialized nations? Yes, European countries are way smaller than we are but there is no excuse for us to be lagging behind if we're supposed to be all that. I don't like that people can brag about our military but not our education or transportation infrastructure. ;-( America is great but we can do way better is all I'm saying.

I prefer to brag about the ethnic diversity, myself. Our education isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, in my experience, at least it isn't something the federal government can address that much. The only thing the federal level government can do is institute a health care program and paid vacation laws like those in Europe to make it easier to take part in a child's education. The first few years of my schooling (until 6th grade or so) my parents were still in college so I had quite a bit of interest in my schooling from my parents. On this issue, in alot of ways the Democratic mindset is a problem as much as the Republican one. I think the Democrats keep trying to address the symptoms and the Republicans, while they do try to address the source, can't (due to their own philosophy) address the real issue- people just can't afford to pay much attention to how there kid is being schooled unless you have the right job or are superhuman. I'd like to nationalize the school systems and grant community control over most aspects of it, though certain quality requirements would have to be in place.
Reply
On the Europe part, you'd be very surprised the differences as well as the similarities, I think. America has alot of aspects I solidly prefer to Europe, even though I'm rather far left in my own ideology. I prefer to take the best of each and throw them together.
Americans are very lazy when it comes to mass transit, not because we love cars so much (we do, though, its part of the culture in a way that its not in Europe) but because our government is lazy. Americans are among the hardest working people in the world and I've always thought that was a good thing. Also, government is really afraid to build any kind of government run thing. Its part of the Calvinistic philosophy that a large part of the country was founded on, I suppose.-

Actually America had lots of public transport systems prior to General Motors buying them up and closing them down in the 1930s.
Reply
As for population differences, the density in Europe is on average not so different than the US. Where trains and metros don't make sense, there is usually a public bus system (sometimes run privately with public subsidy) that will take you to any tiny village.

JFK Was Enraged at 'Zionist Control' Effected by Campaign Contributions
.... 'As an American citizen he was outraged,' Bartlett recalled, 'to have a Zionist group come to him and say: "We know your campaign is in trouble. We're willing to pay your bills if you'll let us have control of your Middle East policy.'" Kennedy, as a presidential candidate, also resented the crudity with which he'd been approached. 'They wanted control,' he angrily told Bartlett....
... JFK wanted a nuclear-free near east with inspectors at Dimona and a resolution to the Palestinian refugee problem (which would be a policy based on American interests or perhaps even regional or international interests). I don't think his patrons liked those ideas much. they wanted a policy based on Israel's interests. and as they say, when you pay the piper, you call the tune....

Al Qaeda and the Taliban have re grouped in Afghanistan and the mountain areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Iraq war needs to come to an end and the Iraqis need to take charge of their own country. People who still want to vote for McCain don't know anything about the Middle East regions, foreign politics, our economy, or our healthcare system which needs improvement. Biden certainly isn't a great orator, and I still disagree about the whole Georgia thing, but I know I'm a small minority on that, so whatever. I don't really expect the VP who is supposed to bring 'strong National Security Credentials' to admit that there are 2 sides to the story. I'm not pro-Russia, don't know any Russians. But I am pro-objectivity, and I think the world has been subjected to good vs. evil absolutism for far too long. I would really like to see a world where everyone is an ally. Unfortunately, there's a very pervasive school of thought that says that you have to ally AGAINST something, when allying FOR something should be just as possible.

The biggest clue that I got as to what was going on in Georgia was, when the Russians went in, the Georgians were saying "Where are the Americans?" like they were expecting us to back their play. We pulled our Marines out of there just before it all went to pieces. It looks like a setup, and the republicons have done this before.

As for Biden, I agree, I don't trust his foreign policy. He doesn't improve the ticket in my eyes, but it's not my eyes that matter. If he can provide a boost to Obama and get him elected, I have confidence that Obama will at least attempt to see through the "zioncon" manipulations.-

The sad thing about the censorship of American media is that years after the zioncons started the Iraq war for israel and oil, much of the American public is still being suckered by exactly the same zionist liars. Unfortunately, they are in both parties. How many Americans know that 56% of all appointees made by Clinton were jewish and that many of them were also supporters of zionist ethnic cleansing of millions of christians and moslems (the world's biggest refugee problem). Imagine the US (Clinton) importing an Australian zionist (Martin Indyk), making him a citizen in weeks and then appointing him as our special representative to the mideast.

The commentators on MSNBC stated that Biden had to mesh his speech with his own speech writer and the one supplied by Obama's campaign staff so it's understandable that he may have had a little trouble delivering his lines. But the substance and content to most of his speech was right on. Oh, maybe "right" is not the best word to use in this circumstance, maybe dead on is better. Well, you know what I mean.

Let`s be honest here. No working class American has a thing to gain by voting for McCain. Nothing.
A vote for Obama means no more counter-productive and unnecessary war. Fiscal responsibility. Vastly improved healthcare for us, and not just John McCain. Real tax breaks for us for once - we`re way overdue! Alternative energy for real - alternative energy does mean drilling for oil in different locations. as far as hating O, no, i don't hate him. he champions "change" but is awful light on details. the details he does give on energy and taxes are lousy. the dems? they won the elections in 2006 by running on the 'i'm not republican' plank. that was enough then for them to win. since then the Pelosi Reid congress has done worse than nothing. they have no overarching plan.
what we have is a party bereft of good ideas and an empty suit running for president .
lying? me? no again. i'd say we are about 180 degrees apart on the political spectrum though.
true motives? LOL! i wading in a democratic party pool. i don't expect any love.
weirdly enough, i could be convinced to vote for certain policies, but first they have to make sense.
IMHO, very few of the dem policies make any sense at all. at this point, the republicans, damn them, make more sense.
sue me.
have yourself a nice day 8 )

But, Bea, above, cheerleading is in part what the convention--what any convention--is about.

It's about rallying the troops, and in that regard the Dems behaved beautifully. Finally, it seemed as if the party stepped forward, without the whipped-puppy, going-in-multiple-directions-at-once affect/effect it's unfortunately too often prone to display.
Even O. seemed relaxed, happy and open. Let's hope this was the beginning of a new, non-looking-over-one's-shoulder beginning.-

Joe Biden is one of the "most favored sons" of AIPAC, who have supported his career throughout. Joe sold out America for his own personal gain long ago. Unfortunately both of our parties are severely sick with this disease.

Why Bush Will Pardon AIPAC for Espionage
A trial would be a very healthy process for determining whether powerful Washington think tanks and corporate news personalities blithely trafficking in our most sensitive national defense information for their own profit should ever be held accountable. But in the waning days of the Bush administration, short-circuiting public accountability for war decisions and the system that produces them is now the overriding doctrine. The pressure is on.

I think the NEO-CON-victs have tripped over the psychological precipice into madness and desperation. They have created an irriversible, destructive economic, political and social vortex in America (which has engulfed all other nations as well) and they do not know how to get it under control. This may have been ‘part’ of their agenda, but I do not think it ‘was’ the entire plan. Not to this degree this swiftly, and along with the fact that many have been awakened to their evilness. Now, their left with the only option seen through the lens of madness, which is suicide. My prediction is they are going to attack Iran, first (before the elections, especially if it looks like McCain won’t win. Though in the long run it doesn’t matter.) Then, some kind of false-flag will be commited via-Georgia or some where in that region, and that will pull Russia into the fray. Either way these rabid-mad dogs seem hell bent on global suicide in lieu of global control.
