Don't laugh. They already have fried ice cream, fried candy bars, fried Twinkies, fried spaghetti, and battered REfried donuts (and donut holes) at the State Fair. Fried air seems the logical next step. Why dilute the crispy oily batter goodness with something else?

Well, Hot diggety dog. Man I'm going to have to drive right on over there just for the deep fried twinkies in that rarified good Iowa air. Drivin' straight thru I'd get there in 2 days. I can taste those delights right now. LMAO hahahahahahaaa

Forty-eight hours of continuous driving, couple hundred bucks for gas, fifteen or twenty bucks admission to the fair, buck or two for a fried Twinkie, increased insurance rates after your heart attack...

Sounds like a great Labor Day weekend to me!
I'm pleased you liked it cowboygrandpa :)

Don't forget the Oreos, Nutter Butters, Snickers, pickles, mac 'n cheese, spaghetti, hot dogs (either in corn or flour batter), cheese curds, veggies, and who knows what else.
You might be able to invent the next fair food.

This is exactly what I've been waiting for! Now I can introduce my own idea.... a Chicken Fried BLT.
Reply
What's a better way to top off my Chicken Fried BLT than with a Deep Fried Twinkie.
This is Iowa right that means they fry everything in lard?-

Speaking of bacon. Has anyone seen Paula Deens Mac and cheese where she wraps a cold square of mac and cheese with bacon and then deep fries it. It looks good but, could cause damage to your body and waste line.

People like to make fun of Wisconsin's love affair with beer, brats, and cheese curds... but that is healthy in comparison to the wierd foods being consumed at this year's Minnesota State fair including chocolate covered bacon... mmmm.

Yes I've had a deep fried Twinkie on a stick. Pretty good too.

So is the deep friend candy bar on stick. Choice of Snickers, and two others. I shared the Snickers.
I've had alligator; shrimp' fruit; cheese on a stick and a corn dog on a stick. Pronto pup on a stick is a flour batter and stinks. Yes there is a war at MN'S fair over which one is better.
I haven't had the deep dried pickles yet.
No I haven't had the mac'n'cheese, spaghetti or (yes this a real item) fried bacon dipped in chocolate on a stick. A friend gave her cousin a candy bar that had bacon in it. Everyone in their family including my friend loved it.
MN'S State Fair has 56 food items all on a stick.
Actually all of those food items on a stick make sense. MN is the second largest state fair. Texas' is bigger. However we have a ton of people everyday that attend. So food on a stick makes sense.-

In Long Beach and Hollywood, Calif., there is (or used to be) a food stand called Oki Dog. It was a hot dog wrapped in a bean-filled tortilla, then I think there was something to do with Teri Yaki before they put that mess in a bun. But hey, at midnight people will eat almost anything. The lines were long.

From that menu, sounds like every attendee counts as two.

Not for the sticks, of course. But OK I'm biased, my favorite Fair food is BBQed corn. And yes, I throw myself on the mercy of the Propeller Court, I DO indulge in the butter.

I knew the OC Sheriff's deputy who used to coordinate security for the Orange County Fair (maybe still does? Hi Larry).
Reply
His best piece of advice was never to eat the fried egg rolls on a stick after the first week, because the vendors never changed the oil during the six-week run of the Fair.
The case for biodeisel!
