The much hyped "division" officially ends with gracious speeches and pledges of support from both Clintons. What will the pundits blab about now? Maybe Rudy's transvestite stint...or an expose of Mike Huckabee taking a nap. Maybe Ed Rendell will have gas.... anything but actual issues.

Me to. I can't stand people that smarmy. If the party came together, why are the polls still showing the same numbers? That plus I've heard from friends working out of the CO office that there are tons of No Obama buttons on a lot of people yet. Coming together? For McCain?

Hi RFE! I posted a similar story from the LA Times, with a link also to a Washington Post story with a video. {Impossible these days to know if someone's posted the same story unless its the IDENTICAL one.

To my mind a big part of the hysteria in the Press comes from the unwieldy format of the election campaign. It was designed for the days of horse-drawn carriages and exclusively print media..
I made up my mind that Obama was going to win in the Iowa primary but as the months dragged by I got more and more bored. [And I'm quite good at watching lizards slee[ping for long periods of time]. I also commented to my gf at the time that the "CHANGE" message was precisely right - but that if I had to hear nothing but that for the next 9 months that would REALLY get old.
Hence the desperate need of the media to find anything that they possibly can to run with and sensationalise and the more off-the-wall the better! However ephemeral.
Brilliant that the 2 Clinton's got the focus exactly right - their legacy will be the stronger for it. -

Excellent speeches by all the Democratic speakers. They got MY vote.

Don't believe Zogby or Gallup saying McCain and Obama are "neck and neck." That's just to pave the way for the voter fraud the Republicans are no doubt planning again.

The Clinton speeches were more about the Clintons than Obama.
It was a bitter pill for them to swallow to endorse that loser Obama.

I guess we'll just have to take your word for that. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is highly likely that your ugly sister and your mother are one and the same person.

Bill left office about 8 years ago and Hillary is not the nominee but the neocons still can't stop running against the Clintons. It is almost as reflexive as the McBush POW story. Any question they can't answer they bring up a Clinton. If McBush can't answer a question he reminds everyone that he was a POW in Vietnam.

DNJ-No I'm not jealous of Monica. I'm offended. The president of the United States and all he can get is thunder thighs Rodham or a fat intern with a blue dress. Then to get caught! What kind of loser is this guy.

As to making peace, I had a chance to listen to on the radio and then saw it on a repeat. It sounded like a load to me. I really thought he'd stop and resell his wife. I am neither a Clinton fan nor a democrat. However, if given a choice of 4 years of Hillary or Barry, I'd have to say Hillary would have been the better choice. Attack me like you libs always do, but Barry wasn't properly vetted and he's got some major problems that will now be brought out. It's something the DNC should have done over the year but they're afraid to hurt the minority vote. Pretty funny when you think about that. Barry was brought up in a white home by a white mother and contrary to most of his claims lead a rather privileged life compared to the minority communities of Chicago.

You got that wrong, it's a list of lies they made up. They take phrases out of context or right out lie. Sad party the Republicans have become. I'd love to see real conservative Republicans kick out you pseudo, faux-Repubs out and take back their party.

Some nice rhetoric last night. I particularly liked Bill Clinton's remarks about what a fantastic commander-in-chief he was. Just a few words ... words like Somalia. American troops are murdered by Islamic warlords ... and we tuck tail and run. Some commander-in-chief. Turning down chances to get our hands on Bin Laden – and enjoying interns while Al Qaeda strengthens. Great, just great.

First, is it me or are the libs just a bunch of parrots. McBush, Bush's 3rd term. I have bad news for you. Bush isn't running. McCain is. McCain is the guy that Bush tried to force out of the party a few years ago. They don't like each other. Trust me, when the GOP party bosses flew down to Arizona to have a chat with John, it wasn't to say you're doing a great job peeing in Bush's cornflakes. It was simply get with the program or you're off all committees and party functions. I like to think of it as being "Liebermaned". The difference, McCain realized the GOP was right. I suspect we'll see a surprise from Joe next week at the convention.

Not quite pal. McCain was more likely told that IF he wants to be supported for President in the next election, he better lose his conscience and morality and back Bush's policies whether he likes them or not.
Reply
He clearly lost both - so which one of these two candidates would sell his soul to be President?
My vote goes to McCain on that issue. The vote that counts will go elsewhere.

When it comes to Somalia, what help could we give? When Clinton was in he and Powell refused to send enough helicopters and armor. This was supposed to be a police action and was sold to the public as such. The forces we faced were AlQueda. They had heavy weapons and certainly took their toll.

You guys forget history. How well long did it take President Wilson and General Douglas MacArthur to capture Poncho Via? Oh, that's right, even after offering money. Invading their country and hunting him for 20 years, we never did get him. So when we can't find OBL, which is 10K miles away, I understand the challenges this offers.

You know, Our Country (USA) is being ruined by all these dirty Political System.
Reply
This has been gone for long time since from late 80 and all these past eight year has been one most of damned worst time of ever.
Our vote for Presidential are being a joke anymore such it is not being running by people vote for them, just being judge by who ever them nominator are, Taken granted for our taxpaying money and or anyway to collects of moneys, wasting on time and materials for these voting.
I can't understand this, Is Hillary Clinton being a nominator now since she has been on a unfair action in the races? And if she did, What would happen is she didn't actually supported Barack? Would that be something for her or that something creating another big issue to carry on as of Political like to find of being trouble and way to spend more money?.-

Hillary stayed with Bill, and she'll stay with the democratic party. She has a worldview the Republicans don't share and she is loyal. She is a strategic thinker, and although she may show disappointment in the moment, she also has the capacity to see the big picture and also to forgive.
Reply
She is already involved in big issues, and her personality demands that she commit herself to them.
Politics has always been dirty--ancient history's philosophers also affirmed this. There is Human Nature, and that isn't changing. Only the cast changes. And they do some good and they twist other things up. Just some do more good and/or twist more things up. Although I think the Bush administration has done some good things, I think it has done some very damaging things, not the least of which are to seek to destroy science and actually destroy our economy.
I think faith-based funding is unconstitutional, and I'm sorry Obama has embraced it. I'm sorry Pelosi made a point of saying "under god" to pander to the right. But I know its expediency--it's the same reason McCain aligns himself with people he formerly verbally attacked. First you have to get elected.
I'm still not sure what I'll do in the voting booth.

What Bill said before, when he wasn't speaking in front of thousands of Democrats at the convention, is what he really thinks. He is sour about Hillary losing and doesn't think Obama is the best candidate. But he said what he had to to get the sheep to vote for Obama. But his supporters who think for themselves know how he feels, and will vote off their own opinion. -

A big reason there is no surge in the polls is because the polls rely on landlines. A significant amount of Obama voters are young and tech savvy and do most of their talking on cells. A lot of McBush voters don't know what a cell is but are happy to answer any poll because it is the first time someone has talked to them since the AARP insurance salesman called 2 weeks ago.

I thought Bill Clinton's speech was masterful, and I thought he made a strong argument for pulling together to at least get a chance to push for essential policy changes desired by voters. I think he is the one who finally brought it together.
Reply
I think America is watching, because they've seen lots of promises turn empty from both parties. -
