In Washington, names often bear little relation to logic. Bills are given the friendliest-sounding names imaginable -- like this year's Employee Free Choice Act -- when what they do is actually the opposite (like strip them of the right to a secret ballot in union elections). Buildings are renamed for people they have no business being named after. For example, the Justice Department building is now named after Robert F. Kennedy, who as U.S. attorney general illegally bugged Martin Luther King Jr.'s phone calls and hotel rooms.
