Begala is absolutely right about Governor Palin's lack of experience and woefully lacking resume of foreign policy credentials. Forget the fact that she is young enough to be McCain's daughter, and that he is old enough to have been Methuselah's grandfather, he picked someone who is not prepared to be the President in the event of his demise.

"On July 11, 2008, Palin dismissed Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan for not adequately filling state trooper vacancies, and because he "did not turn out to be a team player on budgeting issues."[55] She instead offered him a position as executive director of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, which he turned down.
Reply
Her power to fire him is not in dispute, but Monegan alleged that his dismissal was a retaliation for his reluctance to fire Palin's former brother-in-law, Alaska State Trooper Mike Wooten, who had been involved in a divorce and child custody battle with Palin's sister, Molly McCann.[58] Palin is currently being investigated by an independent investigator hired by the Alaska Legislature[59] to determine whether she abused her power when she fired Monegan. The investigation is scheduled to end October 30, only days before the November 4 presidential election."- wikipedia entry-

A law official can be suspended or fired if allegations arise that have some credibility of acts of abuse, child abuse, sexual misconduct, or misconduct on the job to include abuse of power or authority.
Reply
The allegations in this case (10 year old being tasered, wife being beaten, elderly man being beaten) were severe enough to warrent a dismissal.

McCain had to pick someone with zero creds.

All but 2 Republicans with "experience" have a record that can be pointed to. That record is abysmal. (The 2 who are not abysmal opposed Bush's Iraq lack of policy so they would NEVER be considered).
The rest of the decent republicans either joined the libertarian party or are not planning on running again for the offices they hold.
Since Republicans want their personal version of God in politics, why do you suppose God would send a Hurricane in the direction of New Orleans on the anniversary of Katrina? On the week of the Republican Convention?
I think God may be sending Republican politicos a message .
"YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME"
How pompous to believe you do. How blasphemous!
Me, I don't believe God micromanages events here on earth.
I don't believe God gives a rats a** which team wins a football game.
And should be insulted when people pray for such trivial crapola.
The notion that "the prince of peace" would be for war and the killing called collateral damage these days that goes with it is hard to rationalize. The notion that a creator would be in favor of torture under any circumstances is hard to believe. The idea that it's fine to be for blowing the combined treasury of many generations to invade and occupy another sovereign nation but absolutely atrocious to spend a single penny to feed a hungry child in one's own nation must go over real big with "the Big Guy". God is most definitely NOT a Republican.

He refused to fire that state trooper who, yes was her brother in law... however, read the entire allegations. The trooper was under investigation for tasering his 10 year old step son, beating Pailen's father, and abuse of his then wife.
Reply
Oh and the court has already ruled in Alaska... " The Govenor has the power and the authority to fire any official for any reason." In otherwords... the investigation is going no where.

What we may mean is that Palin has a history of positive 'change'. She talks the talk then walks the walk. That has some BooT to it. Obama on the other hand is also 'inexperienced' and at the same time unproven. Palin wins head-on with the Liberal's top man. THAT is a fact. But, good luck to you and all of yours. We both need it to keep a Great America great.

Walks what walk? What do you mean, the runway of that beauty contest she was a runner up in? 18 months experience and already under investigation for abusing the office? Hilarious, only a wingnut could like this nonsense. This ticket has-
No Economic policy- (a nation of whiners)
They are Oil Company Shills -
No Domestic Agenda
The only international agenda is war and more war,
So like every time in recent memory they start up the Guns Gays and God BS to hide behind. This time Americans can look at what these people did when they finally had complete control of all branches of the federal government under GWB. Do you really think they will believe the slogans when reality is in sharp contrast with them?
I don't care how religious you are, to claim any religion's creation stories be taught in a Science classroom is ludicrous- philosophy, social sciences, sure. Science? give me a break.
Even if this is a popular notion down at the barber shop, let's let science scholars teach science and leave "Floyd the barber" out of what actually goes in science textbooks.
Palin is proven? (Perhaps a proven idiot).-

So serving as a state legislator and a U.S. Senator are not enough experience if your a black man, but being runner up in a local beauty pageant is plenty if your white and a wingnut. Yeah I hear you loud and clear.

You can not seriously think this choice displays good reasoning, McCain just threw in the towel.-

One thing we all need to think about mr obama has had 141 days in the senate.Ask our selves if we worked 141 days at a job would we be ceo.? Yes she is in a small state but was a city council member mayor and a governor. Mr obama refuses to say how he will do things. I am a democrat but he isnt god or a rockstar. Every other canditate accepting a nomination does it in the convention hall. He picks Joe biden limited votes while running for president to hilarys 17 million. First major decesion and he screwed up. Joe Biden was retiring so will he really be in it. He also said mr obama wasnt ready to lead the presidency doesn't warrant on the job training. One voter who by the way was african american said she was for hilary and said the dnc and the media hand picked obama and the people picked hilary not that is a democracy.

Renee, Obama has said quite a bit about how he'd do things if elected. If you really wanted to learn about it, you could.

Klarissa if you were intellectually curious you could answer all your concerns with ease, however you have no interest in the truth, you enjoy having your head in the sand (polite) and that's fine...you are like many conservative in that you simply regurgitate whatever you hear that reinforces your assumptions...sad but true...it's ok though...you know what they say about opinions.

Sounds like you missed the 29 specific policy points in Obama's acceptance speech. You know John Kennedy gave his acceptance speech in a similar type of venue. You say your a Democrat? But you don't seem to like Biden much or be aware of the party's history regarding conventions. It's a fact that many of the people shilling on "news" interviews claiming they are Hillary supporters so angry that Obama won that they are now voting for a guy who opposes everything Hillary was for and who does not even believe women should receive equal pay for equal work have never voted for a Democrat before in any election. I don't want to say they are Republican operatives...but. Sure they are. If your not, you really need to listen to what Hillary said in her eloquent speech at the convention. Politics is a hardball game, she played hard to win but came up short. But politics is about policy not personality.
Reply
This Democratic convention proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that these folks have far more in common than in difference, that these folks work very well as a team. I saw something quite different there, a new energized spirit.
A political party with more unity than ever before. I saw people with grace and courage. This was really something remarkable. There is nothing like that in the Republican party, just the same old record of oligarchy, corruption and failure. Who is excited about that? Keep saying Guns God Gays to distract from the tragic record of what you did with the power of all 3 seats of government under the worst president in history. For most Americans you may have fooled them once and shame on you, but to think they are so dim as to have forgotten the rotten scandals too numerous to go into here, or the lies to con us into a tragic needless war? The appointing of literally a guy who ran a pony show to head FEMA? Simply because of a political donation?
The blatantly unconstitutional usurping of powers to the executive branch?
The nominating of a traffic court lawyer to the supreme court? Yeah she got you off that drunk driving charge, but the Supreme court? Are you Kidding? Are we so dumb that we haven't noticed our money doesn't buy half what it did a couple years ago? Are we so dimwitted that we don't notice there are no solvent banks in this nation anymore because of allowing them to "regulate" themselves???? To Quote a great man:
"ENOUGH"
"We are better than that!"

Let us look at what Bill Clinton said only a few months ago; "Who is really ever prepared to be President?-William J. Clinton." Now lets look at the other three people in the race. Are they not all members of our Federal Legislative Branch already? Do they have any executive exsperience? I do not believe so and now they are going to do more for our country by taking away their vote in our federal legislative process? I do feel that the acusations of pandering are ridiculous. Of course Palin is being brought on to help shore up the Women's vote. But all VP decisions in the last 100 years have been made to help balance the parties ticket. So the leftist press wanting to over emphasis the obivious is a slap in the face of the American public. Where was the leftist press when Obama not four years ago stated that for the Democratic Party to appeal to the American public they must simplify their message. Was he calling the American people stupid? The Press sure left that alone.

You say that Governor Palin has no experience? She was mayor of her home town, govenor of the state of alaska, has faced the corruption in Alaska's government and fought to cut the overspending there (to the fact of selling the govenors jet on ebay and returning the money to the state's budget). She has worked to increase jobs and the money in Alaska's budget and did so by cutting out waste, cutting out programs that did not work, and at the same time was able to lower taxes while increasing the funds Alaska could spend on essential programs such as conservation of wildlife areas, improved infrastructure, creation of new jobs and industry.

Now, lets compare that to Obama. Obama was an activist in Chicago... he voted 3 times to turn down a bill that would make it illegal for doctors to continue abortions when the fetus after the abortion attempt, was born live, he has spent a total of 143 active days in the US Senate, his voting record in the Illinois senate includes mostly votes of "Present". He is currently keeping television stations from running a paid for advertisement that show his connections to Bill Ayers... by threatening lawsuits against the stations that air the ad... and yet he speaks of freedom of speech? What foreign policy does Barak Obama have? He has said he would sit down unconditionally with Iran and other enemies... a policy that has failed in the past because Iran's government only responds to, and only if the action is severly detrimental to the government not the people, sanctions... which it and korea have decidedly ignored in the past few years.
What credentials does Biden have? He has as much experience in the senate as McCain... however, when Obama talks about all the failed policies of the past, he mentions that McCain was in the senate at the time... failing to mention that so was Biden. Biden voted against the surge in Iraq.. which we now see is working as incidents of violence and rebellion are down. Biden has voted against off shore drilling and energy independance... which increases the money pouring into Russia, Syria, Iran, and China.
Govenor Pailen doesnt need credentials on Foreign policy when McCain has 10 times the combined experience as Obama and Biden. She does, however, have the experience of running a state and being in an executive position. She has the experience of domestic policy... Something both Biden and Obama lack.
I have followed this campaign and seen the lies and flops presented by Obama... i have seen him put down america overseas and here at home, I have heard his reasons for associating with Rev Wright and Bill Ayers... And he has left a sour taste in my mouth.-

And the problem is? I don't like Walmart either, but I bet there is a Walmart in Illinois and Delaware too. So does that make Obama and Bidden bad people. As far as gravel goes, do you have any idea what happens to asphalt and concrete roads in Alaska. So I fail to see the point of this little story.

“Her personal story is impressive: former fisherman, mother of five.
But that hardly qualifies her to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.”
Actually City council then Mayor, and then Governor, 1992 to present that’s 16 years in elected office.
She actually HAS fought corruption and The oil companies AND won!
Something my 2 Senators from California have NEVER been able to accomplish.
It should also be noted that Mayor’s and Governor’s, when a decision needs to be made, can not exercise that “profile in courage and vote “present”. -

She defeated the longtime senator and Republican governor in a primary and then went on and defeated the former Democratic governor.
She is an experienced politician, leader, and has been through tough campaigns.-
