"On July 11, 2008, Palin dismissed Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan for not adequately filling state trooper vacancies, and because he "did not turn out to be a team player on budgeting issues."[55] She instead offered him a position as executive director of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, which he turned down.
Her power to fire him is not in dispute, but Monegan alleged that his dismissal was a retaliation for his reluctance to fire Palin's former brother-in-law, Alaska State Trooper Mike Wooten, who had been involved in a divorce and child custody battle with Palin's sister, Molly McCann.[58] Palin is currently being investigated by an independent investigator hired by the Alaska Legislature[59] to determine whether she abused her power when she fired Monegan. The investigation is scheduled to end October 30, only days before the November 4 presidential election."- wikipedia entry

You might check a few more details. It is a federal law that law enforcement officers committing spousal abuse be fired.

I don't believe there was any certainty that he was abusing his wife.

A law official can be suspended or fired if allegations arise that have some credibility of acts of abuse, child abuse, sexual misconduct, or misconduct on the job to include abuse of power or authority.
The allegations in this case (10 year old being tasered, wife being beaten, elderly man being beaten) were severe enough to warrent a dismissal.

McCain had to pick someone with zero creds.
All but 2 Republicans with "experience" have a record that can be pointed to. That record is abysmal. (The 2 who are not abysmal opposed Bush's Iraq lack of policy so they would NEVER be considered).
The rest of the decent republicans either joined the libertarian party or are not planning on running again for the offices they hold.

Since Republicans want their personal version of God in politics, why do you suppose God would send a Hurricane in the direction of New Orleans on the anniversary of Katrina? On the week of the Republican Convention?
I think God may be sending Republican politicos a message .
"YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME"
How pompous to believe you do. How blasphemous!

Me, I don't believe God micromanages events here on earth.
I don't believe God gives a rats a** which team wins a football game.
And should be insulted when people pray for such trivial crapola.
The notion that "the prince of peace" would be for war and the killing called collateral damage these days that goes with it is hard to rationalize. The notion that a creator would be in favor of torture under any circumstances is hard to believe. The idea that it's fine to be for blowing the combined treasury of many generations to invade and occupy another sovereign nation but absolutely atrocious to spend a single penny to feed a hungry child in one's own nation must go over real big with "the Big Guy". God is most definitely NOT a Republican.

He refused to fire that state trooper who, yes was her brother in law... however, read the entire allegations. The trooper was under investigation for tasering his 10 year old step son, beating Pailen's father, and abuse of his then wife.
Oh and the court has already ruled in Alaska... " The Govenor has the power and the authority to fire any official for any reason." In otherwords... the investigation is going no where.
