Shocking Choice by John McCain »

Posted By bubba2 1 year, 2 months ago in News

Senator McCain's choice for a running mate is beyond belief. By choosing Sarah Palin, McCain has clearly made a decision to continue the Bush legacy of destructive environmental policies. Her most recent effort has been to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the polar bear from the endangered species list, putting Big Oil before sound science. As unbelievable as this may sound, this actually puts her to the right of the Bush administration.

mccain barely got through annapolis. that he is the gop nominee is beyond belief. so it makes sense that his team would pick someone beyond belief.

on the other hand, dan quayle was literally bush 41's insurance policy. i have that on second-hand authority. maybe mccain is simply doing the same thing.

I also saw the story about how NOW McCain and his cronies apparently think that "inexperience" is just fine. She has only been in state politics for 2 years and was a Mayor of a town of 6000 people before that.

They had better ABANDON any statements about Obama's experience ....

I wish he would have chosen Lieberman. It would even be funnier.

Hi Bubba, nice to see you again.

I don't know what all the fuss is about.

If McCain should happen to get elected, I know I'm going to sleep a lot better knowing that if for some unfortunate reason McCain becomes sidelined, the doomsday button will be in the hands of a hot soccer mom.

I’ll admit that I think she is rather attractive. Much more doable than Cheney, but she also has a little of that smarmy “Church Lady” from SNL look about her.

If she plays well with the republican base, they’re even more out to lunch than I thought.

But, I’m glad that she is McCain’s choice. If the Democrats can’t hammer the republicans into the ground after this ridiculous gaff, then they don’t deserve to be in office.

I felt some fear when i first learned of it, I admit that. I knew that, fiscally at least, she was rather well thought of in the moderate Republican circles. Little did I know of the completely bizarre social conservative levels she believes in. It might solidify the base, but I think it just hurt with women rather then helped. My own mother, upon hearing of this woman, just said there is no chance in hell she's voting McCain. My mother voted for Bush, if that's an indicator.

When I read through Palin's professional background, listen to her speeches, watch her demeanor on TV, I am afraid world leaders are laughing at McCains choice for VP. I don't know about other woman, but I am a woman and I would have voted for Hillary. I will now vote for Obama. I would never vote for someone as incompetetent to be VP of this great nation as Palin is. Palin couldn't tie Hillary's shoes.
Maybe Cheney and Palin will shoot each other's shotguns of?

The greatest VP pick in history was when Roosevelt threw Henry Wallace his VP from 1940-1944 under the bus and picked Harry Truman in 44 the year before he died. Can't even imagine the damage a true socialist like Wallace would have done.
Other great VP picks were Teddy Roosevelt by McKinley in 97' & the Republicans picking Coolidge in 21'.
Sarah Palin is a truely wildcard pick, she could be one of the best!

One thing I'm certain of; of all the wild card picks for VP in my lifetime Sarah Palin made by far the best entrance to the stage. She was completely at ease in this big environment.
Compare her to McGovern's pick of the Missouri senator in 72' who he thru under the bus within a week or the Kennedy brother-in-law who took his place. Dan Quayle in his first introduction to the big scene was absolutely an embarraing figure stunned in the spotlight and Ferraro wasn't much better. All these wild card picks showed they didn't belong,
Sarah Palin on first impression showed she does!

In a way, I feel sad for McCain. He should have had the presidential nomination in 2000. But for the likes of Karl Rover and Company he didn't. Remember them saying that "He gets mad.." and his adopted daughter was his "love child." They drug him through the mud. And now you have the like of Rove trying to help him. Like Rove cares.
As for picking this unknown, and a women, it's a sad last ditch effort.
After 8 years of Bush and company, does he really think that people are going to support a Republican candidate for President?
The American people have had enough and are going to show it with their vote. They did in 2006 and they'll do it in 2008.

This an act of desperation on part of McCain camp and the GOP. These losers looked high and low to find an idiot that would appeal to the pro-life evangelical base of the party. Again, the GOP is willing to lose the election by standing this idiotic stance on the issue of choice. As a Republican, I can say this is reason I'm leaving the party. Abortion, who gives a damn. Attempting to bring democracy to Iraq, who cares? I say that all US troop should be pulled out asap and then, nuke those savaged!
If this idiot and this unknown pro=life are elected then, it will show how many koll-aide drinkers are in what suppose to be the most progressive country in the world.

How come none of the other republicans who were on McCain's VP shortlist...come out to say McCain made a good choice? Is Palin a 'sacrificial lamb"? Did the republican's turn McCain down that were on the VP list? Strange. Don't get it. I'm from Alaska and I don't know anything about her. Wow. Talk about Custer at Little Big Horn. McCain has Custer beat.

great thought about the polar bears. someday i would love to drive up to alaska or to some chunk of ice somewhere and look at one--oh but i forgot i cannot afford to fill my tank with gas. but maybe you will come up with some "sound science" to help me afford a tank of gas or whatever you plan to come up with. meanwhile i will thinking about your polar bear. i bet your bear doesn't give a hoot about allowing us to drill a well somewhere near his home. he probably would even welcome it just like your crazy caribou[sic] welcomed the alaska pipeline since the flowing oil provided them with warmth.

how do you plan to go to see your beloved polar bear without Big Oil to fill your tank. do you think your polar bear buddy would really get upset if we drill a few wells by his hole in the ice. i doubt it--but you sure would get ****** if we did it--almost as ****** as you get when you pull up to the pump and look at the latest price.

McCain, the old soldier, is playing this race like a military campaign, winning one battle at a time. Obama, the empty suit Chicago machine candidate, is looking at it like a pageant en route to a coronation.

Obama with the entire country riveting on his speech to the masses, should have come out of the convention with at least a 15 point bounce. But McCain, in keeping the lid tight on his surprising v-p choice, pounced within hours.

The result, the first poll out after both events, Zogby, shows McCain leading 47-45.

That's all he had to do was break even at this stage and the pressure is all on Obama. Oh yes, Sara is the real deal. Foreign policy experience? She just negotiated a huge natural gas deal with the Canadians, which is more than Obama and Biden combined have ever done.

One question: ARE HILLARY VOTERS ALL DUMB BLONDES?

John McCain no doubt believes that Hillary voters are a bunch of dumb blondes. I for one simply can't believe that Hillary Voters are that stupid, or are they?....................... Maybe John McCain knows that Hillary Voters are emotional and really don't care about the issues nor the platform of the candidate unless the candidate is a female.......................... PALIN should feel like a prostitute standing on a corner bringing in vote for her pimp, John McCain.................

Totally for Sara Palin. Would not have participated in this election until now, because for some reason this country has chosen 3 members of the senate to be the chosen few to lead this country. There is the problem. The house of Representatives does their job, but the senate is always in stalemate--total partisan voting. So, I was thrilled they have chosen a women who leads a real life in the US. She and her husband are union members., she is a mom with real concerns, paying bills, education, infrastructure and healthcare. She is for America and not in the pockets and owing the rest of the world. Take another look. One negative---foreign policy---But what was Reagan's, Clinton's, Bush's and Obama's vast foreign policy expertise. ? Nada! She is outside the loop and though I am pro-choice---Not an issue to run a campaign on--we much more to worry about than that---Roe Vs. Wade will never be overturned. And for all those pundits inside the Beltway that doubt her---just exactly what has been accomplished for so many years by the gentlemen who have held office?
Change is good- a women is true change---not a bunch of senators. Go Girl!
