This was not a good choice for VP. A much stronger choice would have been Colin Powell or Condi Rice. Then the race card could not have been played by either side. This governor adds nothing to an already weak (at best) ticket. If this is an example of McCains judgement, Lord help us!

Colin Powell and Condi Rice WERE tentatively picked and declined multiple times for both the #1 and #2 positions. I think this is great news. I was afraid it would be Ridge.

Paulin has much more experience than many vice presidents and some presidents. And she's smart and innovative. I think it's a really good choice.-

Actually Palin is already under investigation for corrupt influence peddling and lying in in Alaska.

Legislature may appoint investigator in firing
Palin under fire
Alaska Senate leaders want an investigation of whether Gov. Sarah Palin pressured and then fired the public safety commissioner because he wouldn't get rid of a state trooper who had gone through a bitter divorce with Palin's sister....

Having just read Gov Palin's bio, I have to honestly say I like her for some things she's done in Alaska.

She certainly wants an honest government, having gone after Democrats and Republicans alike in her state, cracking down on corruption. She might be embroiled in a controversy of her own at the moment, but all indications are that she had little or no involvement with it.
She's a fiscal conservative, which is great. She was able to reduce taxes in the state substantially.
She seems to be independent from big oil but actively promotes development and wise use of natural resources, and is interested in the climate changes of this planet.
I think it's an interesting choice for Obama's opponent, but I'm not certain it was the best choice. I think he'll have a battle on his hands. Conservatives should like the pick...she's a strong pro-life candidate. But I seriously doubt that adding her to the ticket will bring over many supporters who were strong Hillary fans. Hillary's supporters will come around, albeit late, but they'll come around. They might not have gotten the candidate they wanted, but they won't vote for a Republican ticket on it's own, or because a woman was added to the ticket.
That's not going to happen.-

The thing is their ticket will, I think, be viewed as the reverse of Obama and Biden. She's only been governor 18 months and before that she was the mayor of a city with population 8000. If people are worried that McCain might not make a full four years (and we know that's a concern of both those on the right and the left) it seems to me that those who say Obama is too green should be even more concerned in this case.

But faux noise, the official Ministry of Propaganda, has gone there. And Democrats, good people, are dying! This is a very real issue. I would support Obama over this issue alone. Shucks, I would support Alfred E. Neumann over this issue. Oops! Alfred is already in the White House.

On Powell, He said he didn't want it and women could still Pull the discrimination card. On Condi, she also said she didn't want it and yes she would have covered both areas so no one could cry discrimination, but again she said she did not want it! Anyway one should not pick a running mate based on race or sex, but on qualifications!

Really! McCain wanted someone who would get the women, and his judgement that it would not matter WHO it was, shows how dumb he really is about the world. She has no experience but he is so cocky he does not think he NEEDS anyone with experience. He wants someone he can boss around. Also, she has a newborn and a lot of other children in Alaska, with Mccain's health, malignant melanoma not with a good prognosis, is this woman going to leave her family and be president??? God help us. He is going to play the "downs syndrome" baby thing. Her pairing with him will lose it for him, not win it.

What's wrong with being tilted in favor of creationism? Evolutionists don't have all the answers. Turtles appear in the fossil record from nowhere...with no apparent genefic predecessor. At the bottom of the fossil record, we find an explosion of a vast array of life forms.

Flip a coin. Next. No...I didn't see McCain looking down her blouse. I also didn't see him kiss her on the lips the way Whobama (and Gore) were kissing various women in Denver. GUHROSS.
Outdoorsmen, or for you liberals, outdoorspersons, are the most environmentally responsbile people on the planet. I don't hunt, and only do lazy-boy fishing (charter boats), but I have friends and family who do both and they are extremely responsible when it comes to wildlife and the environment. Oh wait....YOU think being an environmentalist means agreeing with tree huggers all the way down the line. That's YOUR myopia, not Palin's.
Pro-oil? And that is a problem because? Have you checked into the Demcorats in the Senate and House who own oil stocks? Might wanna get on that.
Anti-choice? She made the most incredible choice of any mother: knowing her youngest had development issues, she CHOSE to give birth anyway. OUCH! I DARE you baby killers to attack her on abortion-related issues. PLEASE GOD let the Whobama camp go down that path!!!
What else ya got? Her opposition to corrupt REPUBLICANS ??? Your "bridge to nowhere" went nowhere with this gal. And your*** bridge to nowhere isn't going anywhere with America, either.
McCain today, Palin tomorrow. Get real happy with it.
***Yes, I know the bridge was Sen. Stephens boondoggle. The same Sen. Stephens who said to Hyde RE Clinton impeachment, "I don't care of you have a picture of Clinton raping a woman then getting up and shooting her, you're not going to get 67 votes!" It's that Stephens/Clinton filth we're trying to save the country FROM.
