Groups decry Defense Department ‘betrayal’ of vets »
Posted By bubba2 1 year, 3 months ago in NewsIn a letter going out to members of Congress, the directors of 2 major veterans' groups say the Pentagon has intentionally withheld benefits from wounded service members. The DoD sent out a memorandum in March redefining which injuries qualify as “combat-related.” The definition is important because the 2008 Defense Authorization Act said service members with combat-related disabilities no longer must pay back any disability retirement severance they receive before they become eligible for disability.
