Comments for Palin Almost Recalled As Mayor »
Posted By Aidenag 1 year, 4 months ago in Newsback as Mayor of Wasilla, Palin was nearly recalled, for firing the Police Chief and Library Director for not supporting her in her 1996 race for Mayor. Yes, that's right. Hack n' Sack Sarah didn't even try to hide it. she fired them for "not fully supporting her efforts to govern" (i.e., not endorsing her for Mayor).

It seems that in 1997, she almost got recalled as mayor of Wasilla?
Reply
A recall of Mayor Sarah Palin is off the table, at least for now, according to a group calling itself Concerned Citizens for Wasilla. The group of about 60 residents was formed Friday in response to Palin's controversial firing of Police Chief Irl Stambaugh. Members say they're concerned about the direction taken by Palin since her election last fall, and discussed a recall. But members of the group decided instead they first want to hear Palin's explanations
blahahaahaha omg
Obama’s desperate again!
If were to give credence to every nutcase group that calls for a recall no ELECTED pol would pass.
Wasilla population
5469 3632 18 and over (voting age)
So lets see 60 out of 3632 voters wanted her recalled.
1.6% wanted her recalled and 98.4% didn’t?
Almost got recalled? Are you really this mathematically challenged?
And you think revelations like this will help Obama?
Seriously, are you people idiots?-

Palin lied about visiting Ireland as part of her foreign policy experience
She didn't visit Ireland, which is what the McCain-Palin campaign claimed to Politico's Ben Smith on Saturday. She had a short refueling stopover, which means at best her extensive Irish diplomacy amounted to buying a sweater and a beer mug in the Shannon airport....

She is not a quiter! She has accomplished much so far in her life. She inspires me. I see myself in her. I dislike corruption and wasteful spending and I hope Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin win so they can clean up Washington. If they would clean up the wasteful spending (earmarks) and keep our taxes low plus bring our troops home with honor we would have the money to wipe out the deficit and extend Health Care to the needy.

Well let's look at a highly industrialized and heavily taxed area with a huge sex education program called "Human Growth and Development." When originally designed the first 7 to 8 years was supposed to be a basic health class. But all things MPS, Milwaukee Public Schools, we needed to have Planned Parenthood re-work the committee's original plan. I know the original plan, I was a student adviser on the project. Milwaukee has the highest dropout and teen pregnancy rate of all major cities. The same teachers that can't teach students the basics, reading writing and math are also failing at teaching them about sex. This is really the parents job. But then again, when did a Democrat ever support the concepts of personal responsibility. We all know the job of the government is to take care of our kids from the womb to the tomb.

The United States removed one of the worst tin-plated dictators the world has ever known. For almost 30 years he murdered millions, started 2 wars, supported a global network of terror including and countless innocent women raped with his terror squads. Take Bush`s illegal and immoral actions to start an illegal, immoral, unnecessary, yet very special-interest profitable war against a nation that never attacked nor threatened us. It is hard if not impossible to find a living ruler who has killed more innocent people than George W Bush.
In other words, in a lawless dictatorship like Iraq, Saddam did the worst thing(s) he could get away with. In a semi-law-abiding democracy like America, Bush did the worst thing(s) he could do.
When it comes to morality, Bush and Saddam are two sides of the same coin imo.

The Church removed God's influence from politics 5 centuries ago in official Church doctrine. Official Christian doctrine is for a complete separation of Church and State. The initial source for this position comes from Christian gospel itself where Christ states to give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God that which is God's. This was elaborated upon by Friar Francisco Suarez and it became the basis for international law and the US Constitution. The premise is that God does not take sides, is not a respector of persons and that to claim any action on behalf of God is the sin of using God's name in vain. So, to say "by God's will" is as much a sin as saying "God damn it". Christian doctrine is that in all affairs of politics, God is uninvolved, that political relationships are based upon "natural law" and the "social contract".
Reply
The radical religious right and evangelicals are too ignorant of Church doctrine to know they are committing a sin by claiming Divine Right and using God's name to justify their political positions.
Please, go study your theology and get it right.

I think the pick is worrisome as well, and from what I've seen so far she doesn't have the background, including the education. Hardworking, or wanting change (as many conservatives have lauded) isn't good enough. And I think some of it is payback. Understandable, under the circumstances. There are indications that her name came up some while ago, but whether or not she was carefully vetted is a question that will probably never be answered. Speaking of education, the high school in the town she was mayor of has been cutting classes out because of budget cuts.
Reply
When I graduated from Wasilla High School, Sarah Palin's alma mater, there were 1200 students, some fantastic teachers, and a strong Advanced Placement program. When Sarah Palin graduated, I doubt there were less than half that many students. Unfortunately, the last several years' budget cuts have hit WHS rather hard, and it's been shedding good teachers and AP classes, with no end in sight. Last I heard, the coordinated advanced learning program had been disbanded, for lack of funds. Wasilla High School used to turn out some amazing students, many of whom were friends of mine who went onto MIT, Harvard, Colgate, Tufts, and many other top universities. Now, WHS is a school in decline, even amidst an explosion in the local housing stock, and record state revenues from oil extraction. This decline began under Mayor Palin's watch as mayor, and is coming to its inevitable conclusion under her watch as governor.

Some facts related to this story.
Reply
When she became mayor she cut real estate tax by 40%. She created a sales tax to pay for some building. The recall failed miserably. She won her second term by a 3 to 1 ratio of votes. She fired the people after going round with them on budget issues and talking to the press when they shouldn't. Courts found she had the right to do it and the suit was thrown out of court.
She served on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, where she chaired the Commission from 2003 to 2004, and also served as Ethics Supervisor. She resigned over issues of ethics problems done by the others on the Republican commission. She filed complaints against the state Republican Party's chairman, Randy Ruedrich, and former Alaska Attorney General Gregg Renkes. Ruedrich and Renkes both resigned and Ruedrich paid a record $12,000 fine.
She is a fighter against corruption and very popular. Her aproval rating goes between 80% to 90%.

First on the firing of her former brother-in-law. There were so many examples of his abuse of power while an officer, it's amazing she had to fire him. Between charges of abuse by prisoners and his tazering of his own son would have removed a normal police officer what did him in finally was the recorded death threats he made to the mayor's family during the divorce. Threatening the life an elected official is still a crime. On the other claims, it's been clearly documented that she's a law & order type of person. When it comes to change, she's taken on all forms of crime. One of her biggest fights was with Big Oil and rights. She won that fight or perhaps I should say the people of Alaska won.

As governor it was not her position to fire him, that was the position of his boss who was only going by the suspension already handed down. To fire Wooten would have been an entirely inappropriate misuse of governmental powers.
And Wooten has not been fired. His boss Walt Monegan has, for refusing to fire Wooten for politically motivated reasons. Governor Palin's firing of Monegan because he wouldn't give in to pressure to fire Wooten who had already been suspended is doubly inappropriate. It doesn't matter what you or I or Governor Palin thinks of Mr. Wooten, or what we think his punishment should be. The fact remains that he was punished, the procedure of punishment is completed. The governor does not get to decide punishments basded on personal feelings, nor carry out vendettas on citizens she does not care for. Nor should you want her to.
We depend on our elected officials not to misuse their governmental authority for personal reasons. We call it an abuse of power and it is VERY important that we can feel safe from it

The issue here is an assurance to the voting public that the man who is a heartbeat away from the most powerful office on earth has the best possible chance of surviving his term.
Patients with a history of brain aneurysms can sometimes develop new ones.In this case, the answer can be obtained easily and without risk. A CT Angiogram of the cerebral blood vessels can (and should) be performed prior to the election (if the clip is metallic, an MRI is precluded).-

Can anyone here deny McCain said this? Cause I sure heard it, it was all over the press as well.

"President Bush has talked about our staying for 50 years, maybe 100. We've been in Japan for 60 years, in South Korea for 50 years or so. That would be fine with me as long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or killed," Mr. McCain stated.-

A study was done regarding the honesty of liberals and conservatives, which showed, among other things that liberals were, in general less honest than conservatives. Liberals were more inclined to lie and cheat to achieve personal goals, such as lying on employment applications about education and experience, cheating on exams, etc. Not to say conservatives don't do the same, but liberals were more inclined to do those things by about 20%. After watching the political process closely for the last 20 years, and especially the last 3 presidential election cycles, I wholeheartedly agree with the study. Liberals will do and say anything to get elected. Especially lawyers-turned-politicians, because they are so good at lying.

Actually, 85% of all statistics are made up (including this one).

But it is not surprising considering that more liberals than conservatives have an "end justifies the means" mentality (ok, no study to prove that, just personal observations). To them it is ok to lie, cheat or steel if by doing so a greater good is accomplished.

I'd love to provide a link, but the aforementioned article was in the newspaper, and was printed a couple of months ago. Even if the study was incorrect in it's conclusions, there is no doubt in MY mind, that liberals will do and say ANYTHING to get elected, because they CAN'T win on just the ISSUES. That is MY personal observation of the last 20 years of political contests. After all, who really wants their taxes raised, have weakened foreign policy, weak military, have more expensive fuels, more unemployment, weak stock market, socialized everything, ban conservative talk radio and TV...the list goes on and on. The last liberal we had for president was Jimmie Carter, and he made a mess out of everything. The worst president since Herbert Hoover. Bush comes nowhere near the incompetence of Carter, and I believe nObama is another empty suit liberal, like Carter.

depends on the individual. In the presidential campaign, I think that the Presidential nominee sets the tone.

If some of the people on here are getting democrat campaign talking points, that is their prerogative. What I hope is that they will really read them and decide if they personally want to have that coming our under their own name.

This is a women who, when questioned about her magical pregnancy, chose to throw her daughter to the wolves rather than coming up with a simple piece of paper, a birth certificate!

Seriously, if you want to make a reasonable argument...do something other than attacking the family of the VP candidate. Palin actually has more experience than Obama - something you can't seem to accept.
Reply
Palin would defeat Obama in a debate.
I'm laughing because Obama has been a member of a Black Liberal Theology Church (which is rooted in Black Supremacy), and has admitted to drug use as a teenager. He also associates with a known home-terrorist as early as the nineties. Palin certainly has better judgement than Obama does.
But, of course, if you want to compare your Presidential Candidate against our VP pick, we'll just go ahead and take the presidency while you figure it all out.

The religious right would give Lizzy Borden the thumbs up if they were told to.
Those walking tours in Ohio were the faithful can see Jesus riding into town on a Brontosaurus was not just for the incredibly "faithful" (read stupid) it was for the Investors in the GOP political machine, guaranteeing nothing they say would be challenged.
It's good that Palin's daughter made the "right" choice with her baby (until we suddenly read otherwise). Presuming she had a choice. But the point is that she had no choice about birth control and Palin would try to guarantee that no young person has the right of choice. -

Sarah Palin actually ran a city, a state government and a business, What did the nObama run? A community organization?? He only spent the last 2 years in the Senate running for president. Before that he voted "Present" on almost all legislation in the Illinois government. What big decisions has he actually made....which Ivy league school to go to? Oh, and he hung out with left wing Marxist radicals like Ayers and Wright. Two worthless scum, who should be prosecuted for something, anything. Maybe you all could pull an Alec Baldwin, and promise to leave the country if McCain is elected.
