They are a place to go for an addict where everyone there suffers in the same way. A support group established with the understanding that addiction in an incurable disease, needing a higher power to lift the addict to sobriety, may not sound so controversial, yet 12 Step Programs, although found in every major city has sparked more and more controversy since the years of it's inception.
