Posted By cowboygrandpa 1 year, 5 months ago in NewsFor much of his long career in Washington, John McCain has been throwing darts at the special spending system known as earmarking, through which powerful members of Congress can deliver federal cash for pet projects back home with little or no public scrutiny. I almost think McCain's campaign was happy to find out Palin's daughter was pregnant, it acted as a smokescreen covering up the real issues surrounding her, such as this story. She isn't a fighter of corruption, she is a participant, she isn't a maverick, instead she is a typical politician but that's being lost due to the sensationalism which is on the verge of a backlash.

I have to say I don't think any politician is above this kind of thing, including Obama. It's the kind of thing you get sucked into doing sometimes...talking with your constituents, seeing what they want and need, and trying to get it for them.

It's hard to say no...you end up talking with lobbyists, others in government, to see the best way of getting what your town, county, or state needs.
You forget your position and ethics, and the power you have can take control over you. Keeping it all in check must be a very hard thing to do... -
