Barack Obama is right that the families of the candidates are categorically off limits to political discussions as they are not relevant to the issues at hand. However, when the scandal involves the candidate, the affair is fair game. After all, wasn't it only a few weeks ago that the right crowed on this very forum that John Edwards was an adulterer? Was it not some of the same folks who also crowed about Bill Clinton's infidelity? This article is likely true and even more likely to make people question the self-righteous right-wingers. How many evangelicals must be exposed as hypocrites before they get it?

I wouldn't say that the allegations are likely to be true; they could easily be a lies, but I still find the following sentence from the McCain adviser hilarious:
Reply
"The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Governor Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie."
How do they know? Because she says so? How many husbands all over the world have no idea of their wives' affairs? I could understand if she sued because she should know for sure what's true and what's a lie. But McCain? -

I don't know that this is true, and neither does anyone else. If it isn't, I hope the Enquirer does get sued. I'm fed up with all this, & wish democrats had done the same thing when fools told lies about them, or purposely mislead with the information they touted. Then maybe we could stop all this childish stuff, and for once, after YEARS, concentrate on the issues!

Involves the candidate?
Ya mean like
Speculation, via Daily Kos, that two of Sarah’s children are actually her grandchildren, and that in one case, incest was involved.
Poor prenatal care on Palin’s part created a Downs baby? Via Alan Colmes
Ya mean like Palin was a member of AIP!
Even though AIP say’s she wasn’t
Along with Sarah Palin and voter registration of Alaska?
Oh let’s not forget the photos!
Ya mean like “she was facing a recall” even though there was no recall threat?
Alaska law says ya gotta get 100 signatures in order to START a petition, they could only get 60.
Ya mean like firing “rumors word” the top cop cause he WOULDN’T enforce HER Policy?
Do you know what POLICY was in question?
Her policy was that Cops couldn’t drink booze on the job in uniform and in their patrol cars.
Seriously is this a “SCANDLE”.
Are these the OMG SCANDLES that must be investigated!
All these Scandals came out within 6 hours of her being named.
All these scandals had been and debunked within 2 hours of them being posted.
But she wasn’t vetted!
Based on all these scandals that came out within 6 hours of her being named.
Please oh please keep it up!

“When McSame denies the Corsi book maybe I'll listen. Not before”
Are you referring to McCain when asked about the nut case truther Corsi
Said
“that you've "gotta keep your sense of humor."
Is that it? Please say yes!
Why do you give Corsi, a “truther” ANY Credence?
Why give Daily kos the same?
Seriously, ya gotta keep a sense of humor.
Do you know why McCain gave that answerer?
You don’t, do you? BTW why do Obama sites use Corsi?

I find it interesting that everyone keeps saying the National Enquirer got it right about Edwards... but wasn't the article about his "Love Child"? Has that part of this been verified? The last I heard, Edwards had admitted to the affair but was adamant that the child was not his. Why admit one and continue to deny the other?

The Democrats and liberals must be getting desperate. All the lies they dream up to try and blacken her name. They can't stand that she has an 80% to 90% approval rating in her state where they know her very well. Her husband had a DUI once many years ago and that translated into him being a drunk. She fires people who do not get on board with her budget concerns and they have to be fired over other dark reasons. Li8es are created out of thin air like she belonged to that party in Alaska that is pushing for seperation from the country.

Why are the Democrats so desperate that they make up all of these lies. Does what she stands for threaten you that much?

I don't like Palin - I think she's as phony as the $3 bill with Obama's face on it - and I'm a progressive, and I'm going to vote for Obama. And I know the John Edward's Enquirer story turned out to be spot on. However, I am skeptical about this. Come on, it's the National Enquirer. So they've got a long way to go to have this taken seriously and matter. Yet, if it does turn out to be true, I think even the staunchest red-meat conservatives would have to say that it's over. Right?

Why would it be over? McCain started "seeing" his first wife while she was still married. Then he started "seeing" Cindy while he was still married. The cons have forgiven him for this. Why wouldn't they forgive Palin for her indiscretions?
Reply
It's only the Godless liberals who are never "forgiven". Anyway, the way I heard it was that it was her husband Todd who has the wandering eye (and other body parts). -

BTW: We now know that some red-meat conservatives do already believe it's over. Peggy Noonan, for one, said so on live mic on MSNBC when she thought she was off the air. So when they're not being paid to manufacture an opinion, some of these folks can be honest and reasonable, I guess.

McPain's a phony, and we all know that.
Reply
Not too long ago, a woman lobbyist was found to be getting too cozy with McPain, and his campaign had to give him a warning to get her off the campaign plane!
May be it was just me, but I saw a glint of lust in his eyes when he introduced her at the press conference. The body language after that introduction was even more telling, I think!
Maybe it is nothing..
But do you want even the slightest hint of inappropriate behavior between two people who may become the top two leaders of this country, and the one with some "charm" to be a heartbeat away from her 72 year old lead man?
I have seen a lot of dirty old men hiding behind the mask of their "leadership"!
A little disconcerting thought! -

It seems like a new skeleton falls ouf of the Palin closet with each passing day. Did McCain check her and her family out before he selected her? It sure doesn't look like it. We're going to have to vote Democrat this year. With the selection of this dysfunctional family, the GOP just handed the White House to the Democrats on a silver platter!

Check the latest polls - I don't think the Dems are nervous at all. Last night after the Palin speech a number of women (several were Hillary supporters) were asked about it and they were relatively unimpressed.
Reply
No matter what, honest Reps will admit that McCain took a real risk in selecting a realtive unknown with no foreign policy experience and who is Governor of a state with a population one third the size of Houston.
The operative word in that sentence, by the way, was "honest". -

Hey America, regardless if the story is true or not, do you want somebody who is either in menopause or will be entering menopause shortly to be the VP of the U.S.? I suggest that everybody take the time to read about when menopause occurs and the psychological effects of menopause. Most women going through menopause go nuts. As published, women going through menopause suffer from mood disturbances, irritability, fatigue, memory loss, and problems with concentration, depression and/or anxiety. Think about it America.

Now that's sexist. In my life I have known 1(one) woman who went into a depression following a hysterectomy (which is an artificial menopause). Of the hundreds of women I've known, none of them exhibited any personality difference during menopause.

saneman, you are anything BUT. Typical lib- you would welcome a woman in office ONLY if she is in your party.

BTW, there is a male menopause. You ever hear of it? No, because you are ignorant and uneducated. Does the same thing to men- mood swings, irritability, and an insatiable need to prove themselves at all costs. Think about THAT, America -

Didya see McCain checking out Palin's butt the other day? Isn't it funny that the nutball apologists fall all over themselves to dismiss any sign of impropriety among Republicans, but if the subject is Democrats it's all held under a blacklight? Unf***ingbelievable!

Palin in the words of people who knew about a scandal:
Reply
"Under investigation for abuse of power, she has had to admit that more than two dozen contacts were made between her staff and family to the person that she later fired, pressuring him to fire her ex-brother-in-law. She tried to replace the man she fired with a man who she knew had been reprimanded for sexual harassment; when this caused a public furor, she withdrew her support."
"She has bitten the hand of every person who extended theirs to her in help. The City Council person who personally escorted her around town, introducing her to voters when she first ran for Wasilla City Council became one of her first targets when she was later elected mayor. She abruptly fired her loyal city administrator; even people who didn't like the guy were stunned by this ruthlessness.
Fear of retribution has kept all of these people from saying anything publicly about her."
Does this sound at all familiar to the extreme right wing criminals we have in office? -
