Later, when questions were raised about Palin's lack of experience in national and international affairs, the McCain campaign pointed again to her military command experience as governor. Some reporters have tried to follow up.

All of these findings are completely unacceptable, and the American people had better be prepared to say "ENOUGH!" This woman cannot go any where near the governing of this nation!

I don't know why you guys are bothering with the Republicans...they have nothing this convention has been all style and no substance all yapping about Obama bad man and nothingf about what the y plan to do for the country. There is a very good reason for this, they have no Ideas and or clues as what it will take to fix their own mess because they don't think their mess is a mess...if we vote these fools back in then we deserve to get what they give us. I hope it's not true that this much Americans are stupid!

No, Campbell said. The governor has granted him the authority to act on his own in most cases, including life-or-death emergencies — when a quick response is required — and minor day-to-day operations.

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism.
She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.-

OK, with all of this huge amount of "experience" that Palin supporters tout, you should be able to point to a couple of concrete examples of her showing spectacular decision making ability........please do so.

Note, though, that the claims of attempted censorship have come from Palin's political opponents -- she defeated Stein to become mayor and the story has otherwise been spread by Anne Kilkenny, a Wasilla Democrat. I'd like to see stronger sources for those charges.

Palin is going to serve a purpose. Not that I was voting for McCain in the first place, I wouldnt care who he had as VP. But she is going to be put out there to do exactly what she did last night. Come at Obama, try to force him into a fight, or even Biden into a fight and so all that will be left is McCain tryna take the high road, if he can. It's all a distraction so that we forget that her speech wasnt really laced with what she can do or what she will do as far as the issues are concerned. The sarcasm wasnt tht cute to me---it seemed rathy b*tchy (and i would say that about anyone that made a speech that was similar to hers).

They need her to be pitbull in lipstick (as she put it) and whether she really knows anythign really doesnt matter. Sad really. But I dont think it motivated anyone who wasnt already voting for McCain. It fit to waht they like to hear, there was no peace-making no unity, stretching the truth, overstating reality---IE same ol' politics wow--what change.-

More like make him explain exactly what a "community organizer" is.
Right now, this country sees the title "community organizer" as a joke. If the people Barry "organzied" aren't better off than they were when he "helped" them, then it is a joke!
It's all a distraction so that we forget that her speech wasnt really laced with what she can do or what she will do as far as the issues are concerned.
She explained what she did as Governor of Alaska-- it's experience that Obama only wishes he had.

I personally loved the "styrofoam Greek pillars going back to the studio" line
How Obama talks to the people of Scranton one way and then another to San Francisco.
How b*tchy do you think the left is for attacking her family, and stealing her social security number??
I talked to my neighbor (pro-choice democrat) this morning who is definately voting for McCain/Palin-- simply because of Palin.
How many other dems are out there just like that??

Which is still 16 more pieces than McCain ever ordered up because he doesn`t know how to use a phone book or a computer to find the nearest KFC. How far is it from McCain`s 8 homes to KFC? Or was it 5 homes, or 6, or 12? Hard to count that high when you`re 72 and have given up any pretense of knowing what you`re doing.

No mention of the "talking point" of McCain claiming that Chelsa Clinton is the offspring of Hillary and Jane Reno. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/02/09/john-mcca...
Apparently McCain FORGOT the rumor mill spread by the supporters of Bush and the other right-wing Pukes that he had fathered a black child out of wed lock.
Listening to the manufactured talking points about the newest incompetent to arrive on the GOP political scene, it brings to mind that Ms. Palin is not another crack in the political ceiling as much as a SMUDGE. -

She probably hasn't issued any orders for the NG. The NG is the state army. Each state has a NG. When there is a state disaster, the governor of that state is Commander-in-Chief of his/her state army. When there is a NATIONAL disaster or war, i.e., Iraq, Afganistan, and NG personnel are activated, they are under the jurisdiction of the Federal government. When a NG individual goes to their two-week summer camp, they are under Federal jurisdiction. So, since there haven't been any state disasters in Alaska for a while, she hasn't had to order the NG to do anything. The person who posted regarding activitity along the Russian border, since this is a "daily" thing, I would assume they are under Federal jurisdiction just as those are who are guarding the Mexico/U.S. border for illegals, etc.

So, you want a rock star who has been a member of his state government and the U.S. Senate and has a pretty good educational background and a knowledgeable VP running mate or a self-proclaimed soccer mom who was a member of the PTA (this ain't the PLO), a small-town mayor (6,000 residents) or a governor for LESS than two years??? Talk is cheap and making promises that things are gonna change for the Republican party after eight years of crapola is suspect. I'll take my chances with the other guys.

FTA:
The Alaska National Guard, which Republicans are pointing to as an important national-security credential for vice presidential choice Sarah Palin, has personnel shortages that make its aviation units the most poorly staffed in the nation.
Just six months ago, Air Force Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, the Alaska Guard's top officer, warned in an internal memo that "missions are at risk." The lack of qualified airmen, Campbell said, "has reached a crisis level."
---
Now there is something to brag about.
I love it when FACTS get in the way of a good Con BS story.
Maybe Alaska could do something like hire high school dropouts or convicted felons to fill its ranks. That sounds like change we can believe in - or maybe something that has already been done.-

We simply need more information to see whether or not she's qualified.
