Posted By Neophile 10 months, 1 week ago in News

When presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain introduced Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate last Friday, the Arizona senator emphasized her role as the commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard.

Later, when questions were raised about Palin's lack of experience in national and international affairs, the McCain campaign pointed again to her military command experience as governor. Some reporters have tried to follow up.

All of these findings are completely unacceptable, and the American people had better be prepared to say "ENOUGH!" This woman cannot go any where near the governing of this nation!

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism.
She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is going to serve a purpose. Not that I was voting for McCain in the first place, I wouldnt care who he had as VP. But she is going to be put out there to do exactly what she did last night. Come at Obama, try to force him into a fight, or even Biden into a fight and so all that will be left is McCain tryna take the high road, if he can. It's all a distraction so that we forget that her speech wasnt really laced with what she can do or what she will do as far as the issues are concerned. The sarcasm wasnt tht cute to me---it seemed rathy b*tchy (and i would say that about anyone that made a speech that was similar to hers).
They need her to be pitbull in lipstick (as she put it) and whether she really knows anythign really doesnt matter. Sad really. But I dont think it motivated anyone who wasnt already voting for McCain. It fit to waht they like to hear, there was no peace-making no unity, stretching the truth, overstating reality---IE same ol' politics wow--what change.

The only order Obama ever issued was for the 16 piece extra crispy.

McSame ever the hypocrite in a party of the low-lifes.
No mention of the "talking point" of McCain claiming that Chelsa Clinton is the offspring of Hillary and Jane Reno. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/02/09/john-mcca...

Apparently McCain FORGOT the rumor mill spread by the supporters of Bush and the other right-wing Pukes that he had fathered a black child out of wed lock.

Listening to the manufactured talking points about the newest incompetent to arrive on the GOP political scene, it brings to mind that Ms. Palin is not another crack in the political ceiling as much as a SMUDGE.

And I hope Palin will never issue any order in the capacity of VP or President.

Call the Repugnicon party what it is, the White Evangelical Party of Ignorance.

They embrace ignorance and religious dogma, and are damn proud of it.

At this point, anyone voting republican is a geneticly inbred nutjob incapable of self awareness. Sub-human scum. Creationist cousin marryin' wallmart shoppin, hocky mom, trailer park inbred sub-human scum.

She probably hasn't issued any orders for the NG. The NG is the state army. Each state has a NG. When there is a state disaster, the governor of that state is Commander-in-Chief of his/her state army. When there is a NATIONAL disaster or war, i.e., Iraq, Afganistan, and NG personnel are activated, they are under the jurisdiction of the Federal government. When a NG individual goes to their two-week summer camp, they are under Federal jurisdiction. So, since there haven't been any state disasters in Alaska for a while, she hasn't had to order the NG to do anything. The person who posted regarding activitity along the Russian border, since this is a "daily" thing, I would assume they are under Federal jurisdiction just as those are who are guarding the Mexico/U.S. border for illegals, etc.

When the these neoclowns learn that we won`t stand for their `winging it` in regards to our government anymore?

Have they been doing it so long and so much that they just are unable to stop their mouths from speaking total BS??

It`s amazing! The difference between normal humans and Republicans, normal humans learn from their mistakes. Republicans keep repeating them over and over and over again.

So, you want a rock star who has been a member of his state government and the U.S. Senate and has a pretty good educational background and a knowledgeable VP running mate or a self-proclaimed soccer mom who was a member of the PTA (this ain't the PLO), a small-town mayor (6,000 residents) or a governor for LESS than two years??? Talk is cheap and making promises that things are gonna change for the Republican party after eight years of crapola is suspect. I'll take my chances with the other guys.

There is no way I'm letting this little gem get lost in the shuffle of replies above.

                      Paline - INEPT "Commander-in-Chief"

                      http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_el_pr/cv...

                      FTA:

The Alaska National Guard, which Republicans are pointing to as an important national-security credential for vice presidential choice Sarah Palin, has personnel shortages that make its aviation units the most poorly staffed in the nation.

Just six months ago, Air Force Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, the Alaska Guard's top officer, warned in an internal memo that "missions are at risk." The lack of qualified airmen, Campbell said, "has reached a crisis level."
                      ---

Now there is something to brag about.

I love it when FACTS get in the way of a good Con BS story.

Maybe Alaska could do something like hire high school dropouts or convicted felons to fill its ranks. That sounds like change we can believe in - or maybe something that has already been done.
