Comments for Palin Has Never Issued An Order to the Alaska National Guard »
Posted By Neophile 1 year, 4 months ago in NewsWhen presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain introduced Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate last Friday, the Arizona senator emphasized her role as the commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard.
Later, when questions were raised about Palin's lack of experience in national and international affairs, the McCain campaign pointed again to her military command experience as governor. Some reporters have tried to follow up.

I don't think Obama's claiming, as Palin and her supporters did last night, that being the nominal head of the Guard in Alaska makes her a leader and a military leader at that. The fact that once they're mobilized for war that they fall under federal jurisdiction and she has no say kind of shoots down that lie.-

Since we set Georgia up to invade Russia--yes, you read that right, GEORGIA INVADED RUSSIA--by repeatedly telling them we'd back them up about South Ossetia, it seems fair to allow a less interested party to moderate. We also have permanent veto power in the U.N. Security Council.

You think that Georgia invaded Russia. What have you been drinking. South Ossetia is Georgian territory that Russia has had troops in claiming that a lot of South Ossetians are Russian citizens. Therefore the say they just wanted to protect their citizens. Maybe we should let the Mexican army in to protect the Mexican citizens.
The confrontation was triggered by the Russians and when Georgia tried to maintain order in the parts of the country left to them the tanks rolled in. That was a long range plan because it takes months to set up an army to do what they did in days.

For those who believe Obama was asked to run on his own merits, think again. Why would ANYONE experienced in politics want or believe a basic nobody can actually lead a country when he hasn't even led a boy scout troop? Obama is a puppet plain and simple. Those "grass roots constituents" who "begged him" to run recognized not talen or intelligence but rather ignorance (because he truly doesn't know any better) and inexperience. They know he's young - impressing the young voters, he's of a minority race - winning votes of minorities, and he's ignorant and inexperienced enough to be pushed around and dangled like a puppet by the more intelligent, power hungry, experienced individuals who would otherwise stay in the shadows but want the power of the positioin. Obama needs seasoning before coming into play.
Reply
It's simply like this: if your car's motor was broken, would you want an ASE certified, experienced technician fixing it or would you hire someone who was still in high school shop class who's only experience was fixing a flat tire? Give your man time to grow up and he may be president-worthy one day. Right now, nothing personal against him, but he's not qualified by simple virtue of inexperience and ignorance.-

There has never been a bigger puppet than George W Bush, and now McCain has sold out because he will do anything for the fame and to go down in history no matter what damage he does to the country.
McCain is a total sell-out who has been running for the presidency for decades, and only now got the nod from the Republicans because he sold-out any integrity he had left in his soul after selling out his first wife and family for the $.
Obama has more life experience that applies to contemporary America than all Republican politicians put together. Obama is the American Dream. A guy who had zero advantages, unlike Bush and McCain. A guy who got zero handouts or passes, unlike Bush and McCain.
Obama is a real American, unlike Bush and McCain. Obama is an American we can all be proud of, unlike Bush and McCain.
McCain is well beyond his prime, and is nothing more than a reckless temperamental shell of his former `maverick` self.
We can afford a McCain presidency like we can afford another 9/11, Katrina, or Iraq.-

He is owned by the unions:

Unions begin big election effort, By John Wojcik, People's Weekly World
With the primary season over, labor is wasting no time jumping into the fall campaign. The 10-million-member AFL-CIO is expected to endorse Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, shortly. The Change to Win federation has already endorsed him.
Once the AFL-CIO officially endorses Obama, it is expected to deploy large numbers of ground troops for the election. It has already budgeted $54.3 million for its own get-out-the vote drive and may, according to its political committee chairman, AFSCME President Gerald McEntee, spend as much as $60 million on the effort.
The Steelworkers have already begun what they say will be 30,000 or more worksite visits by union activists, talking directly to workers about Obama’s positions. They’re emphasizing his proposals for fair trade policies and for creation of millions of good paying “green” manufacturing jobs. The jobs they are talking about include production of solar cells, industrial-sized windmills to power electric turbines, and hybrid automobile engines.
The Service Employees (SEIU), the largest union in the Change to Win federation, voted at their June 2–4 convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to spend $85 million for the fall campaign to elect Obama and a bigger Democratic majority in Congress.
An additional $55 million will be spent for a legislative campaign to push for creation of a “universal, comprehensive and affordable national health care plan,” according to a union statement issued after the convention.
In a unique move, SEIU voted to spend $10 million to mount campaigns against legislators on any level who go back on promises they have made to the labor movement.
The SEIU info
Organizing in Oregon
The Civil and Human Rights Committee of SEIU Local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union sponsored and hosted a talk by Communist Party Vice Chair Jarvis Tyner, Local 503 retiree activist Ann Montague and union organizer Bob Novick on Friday, August 8 in Portland, Oregon.
The forum was held to reflect on past civil rights struggles and to tie these to the present political moment. The panel featured three slightly different perspectives on the past and on the Obama candidacy. Communist literature was briskly distributed. One woman who attended took a number of items with her for her non-union paper mill.
Plans are in the works to follow up on the weekend with mailings, personal contact and e-mails. Three people have expressed an interest in joining the Party and several more heard about socialism for the first time at these events.-

Union leaders are sometimes corrupt. So are business leaders.
Reply
While Obama is NOT owned by unions, I still like a candidate who the unions support a whole lot more than I like one that Big Oil, Big Pharma and the military-industrial complex supports.
Unions do more for the average American than big business does. If you don't like unions, then you must be anti-free market--a free market uses the law of supply and demand to regulate itself, right? Labor is a commodity, just like oil.
And isn't it really time to drop your Communist smears? Have you EVER heard Obama say he wanted to nationalize industry, abolish profit equalize everyone's pay regardless of their job function? -

We should not let any different of opinions in terms of candidates for president let us embarrass our own country, the world is watching us, there are issues with the Americans need to take care off. We must choose a good charactor and hard working person to run this country, it does not matter whether is Republicans or Demoractes, he must be a good charactor understand what stake America is in. Otherwise, this country will fall behind many growing nations and countries with smart citizen choosing smart leaders.

Well if you want to use the machine analogy, well Bush took that machine and messed it up real bad, to the point where its going to take one hell of an effort to fix it! The problem with your people is they don't read the users manual and they think you can operate that machine with no support, then they grind the gears over rev the motor and F@@K the machine right up, hopefully someone will come along and say what the F@@K are you doing, and yank your A$$ off of that machine in time to fix it, before it's beyond repair!-

Not to be picky, but he was never selected to run the Luftwaffe after WWII. He did have a distinguished career as a consultant for other air forces, including Argentina and the US. There is some evidence (although it may be apocryphal) that he even helped the Israelis set up their air force, which (ironically) flew BF-109's originally, although these were Czech built versions (Avia S-199's).

Palin is going to serve a purpose. Not that I was voting for McCain in the first place, I wouldnt care who he had as VP. But she is going to be put out there to do exactly what she did last night. Come at Obama, try to force him into a fight, or even Biden into a fight and so all that will be left is McCain tryna take the high road, if he can. It's all a distraction so that we forget that her speech wasnt really laced with what she can do or what she will do as far as the issues are concerned. The sarcasm wasnt tht cute to me---it seemed rathy b*tchy (and i would say that about anyone that made a speech that was similar to hers).

She probably hasn't issued any orders for the NG. The NG is the state army. Each state has a NG. When there is a state disaster, the governor of that state is Commander-in-Chief of his/her state army. When there is a NATIONAL disaster or war, i.e., Iraq, Afganistan, and NG personnel are activated, they are under the jurisdiction of the Federal government. When a NG individual goes to their two-week summer camp, they are under Federal jurisdiction. So, since there haven't been any state disasters in Alaska for a while, she hasn't had to order the NG to do anything. The person who posted regarding activitity along the Russian border, since this is a "daily" thing, I would assume they are under Federal jurisdiction just as those are who are guarding the Mexico/U.S. border for illegals, etc.

Thanks to a bias 'd liberal media, hypocritical liberal rational, the obnoxious, neurotic, nauseous, childish behavior of liberals in general. I'll be casting my independent vote for McCain-Palin. I have had it with liberal whining and one track mind finger pointing. Do all liberals wear horse blinders and have very short memories? are all liberals retarded? What the f**k? So Palin's girl is pregnant. so what? when did that become offensive to liberals? Oh! she may have had an affair. Hello... remember President Clinton? I voted for the man, Twice, cause I didn't give a crap about that. So, she never gave a command to the Alaska National Guard. Isn't this a good thing? though I'm very certain that she could have if it was needed, but things in her state must have been running smoothly to not require that. I would have voted for Hillary, but the liberal Media rail roaded her and shoved Obama down our throats, deliberately over looking his shady business past and questionable (at best) associations. Hello! the emperor has no clothes. I'm sick with this liberal sexist wa, wa, wa. I am voting for McCain (and so is my family) so help me. I notice you cons keep trashing the story as either fake or completely biased by a democratic supporter. What you don't do is dispute the specific allegations in the story except to say they are lies. Refute them with counter facts or can you??Did she or did she not sacrifice needed civic projects like infrastructure and a sewage plant in favor of a park and an unneeded sports complex?? Did she or did she not try to get a librarian fired for not pulling a book or books she did not like?? Did she or did she not inherit a balanced city budget and leave it with a 22 million dollar deficit??? Did she did she not plead for pork from Washington (hired a lobbyist) while mayor then bragged about how anti-pork she is when on the national stage. Did she or did she not brag about how she opposed the bridge to nowhere without telling how she enthusiastically supported the pork when first proposed by Sen.Stevens??? Just throwing up your hands and making a blanket statement that the article is a biased lie and walking away doesn't cut it.
