Beavith's unfortunately right.
The constitution guarantees no establishment of a state religion, but the reason people fled from England was to practice *their* particular faith and there was plenty of discrimination within the colonies if you didn't step up and follow their faith-based rules and traditions.
That the constitution, however, guarantees no establishment of a state religion and is fairly empty of 'God talk' at a time when most legal documents had 'Got talk' out the wazoo is telling.-

And I'm sure beavith has heard of the first amendment too which of course came much later. But hey, maybe we can change that pesky piece of paper to reflect our Christian views. I'll bet if you ask Sarah, she'll tell you it's all part of Gods plan.
