Cindy McCain's Convention Outfit Cost $300,000 »

One of the persistent memes in the Republican line of attack against Barack Obama is the notion that he is an elitist, whereas the G.O.P. represent real working Americans like Levi “F-in’ Redneck” Johnston. It caught our attention, then, when First Lady Laura Bush and would-be First Lady Cindy McCain took the stage Tuesday night wearing some rather fancy designer clothes. So we asked our fashion department to price out their outfits.

I thought it curious that McCain's wife would choose to wear a diamond pin reading (in diamonds) "Navy/USMC." It seems disingenous when you're claiming to be the party of average people when each diamond in a stickpin you're wearing is worth more than the pay of a soldier you're supposed to be honoring with such a pin.

Oh get over yourselves. Obama's nasty wife paid a pretty penny for her weave and her ensemble. Cindy has done SOOOOOOOOOO much for our planet and the people on them. Michelle has done nothing compared. I beg of you to list more than FIVE things she has done that have helped people in third-world nations FIVE years ago. Please? I beg of you. And since we were on the subject of her clothes, she is auctioning off her baubles for charity. But you don't hear about that in the angry liberal media. Ever.

The dress was brought to you by "Budweiser- the king of beers" and possibly some of the leftover Keating 5 scandal money.

well she had to dress well...after all this is the Grand Old White People's Party. gotta look good on television along with all the other rich white folk.

i didn't even notice her dress. all i noticed was the almost complete lack of any people of color on the convention floor. a dramatic difference from the democratic convention where all racial mixes were clearly apparent. it looked like a sea of white faces with large islands of white hair, and everyone in suits. and they thought they could fake us out with those faux "hand made" posters. who the heck do they think they are kidding?

The Republicans are waging a completly unjustified war in Iraq that has killed thousands of innocent people, including Iraqis and our troops, and Cindy wants to convince people she's a good person because she helped in third world countries and adopted a girl from Bangladesh.
Just a few weeks ago, McCain announced our troops will stay in Iraq for as long as needed, though he couldn't tell the difference between Sunnis, Shiites, and Al Qaeda and hasn't defined what we will win there and why so many people on both sides have
to die in Iraq on a daily basis. I did notice a war veteran protested because McCain voted to cut Veteran's benefits. It was all show, no substance, all hype, and all BS.

    from cindy mccain's speech:
"It's going to take someone of unusual strength and character — someone exactly like my husband — to lead us through the reefs and currents that lie ahead. I know John. You can trust his hand at the wheel. But you know what, I've always thought it's a good idea to have a woman's hand on the wheel as well."

how unaware and hypocritical can Cindy McCain be?

We can trust John McCain at the wheel?

I guess she forgot how many planes McCain crashed as a pilot. I don't want him driving anything, literally or figuratively.

and cindy has always thought it's a good idea to have a woman's hand on the wheel as well?

    what a bunch of bullsh*t.

do you think she'd use that statement if hillary was the dem candidate? not in a million years. in fact, if hillary was the dem candidate, palin wouldn't even be on the ticket at all, which proves what a cynical, purely political choice she really was.

the practice of calling their opponent an elitist a meme is overly polite.

it's simply a lie. a lie repeated often enough remains a lie.

Cindy's dress looked like a yellow crosswalk raincoat with the collar turned up as a homage to style. If it rains indoors or out, she'll be prepared to weather the storm. Just don't ask her any difficult questions, she didn't have time to prepare due to the time it took choosing her accessories.

          a little off topic but....

How many times are they going to say we'll bring change? 30 years in the senate...What change?

How many times are they going to say we'll clean up Washington? In POWER for eight years and it's still the status quo.

How many times are they going to say how bad washington is and we're gonna be MAVERICKS?
Who do they think has been in power for 8 years and WHO DO THEY think MESSED UP WASHINGTON in the first place?

These sad people are lapping up this drivel like a bum at a soup kitchen.

amazing really that SO MANY are SO GULLIBLE.

What a stupid story. Is this even a story? Is this really news? Is this important?

The real news here should be that Cindy McCain is auctioning her things for charity.

          Good Grief, how shallow.

Just more lies from the Dems, there is no proof that those items of clothing and jewelry cost that much. Besides, Cindy McCain isn't running for office.... you all sound like a bunch of little children, whining that someone took your lollipop....

We have a Corrupt Politician, a Budweiser 'Druggie', and Lipstick on a Dog Palin....

President, First Lady and Vice President??

Out of all the qualified Individuals in America, is this the very Best the Republicans have to offer?

That's right....now we all see how nothing gets done in the house or senate. With all the bickering from both sides. It's seems both sides have the perfect plans to solve the worlds problems and no one seems to ever get anything accomplished because we like to FIGHT amongst ourselves. If we put as much energy to fix the corruption as we do the belly aching we direct towads each other what a great nation we would have. Maybe we could focus on the positive for a while instead of all the negitive............gee what a concetpt!!!!!!

Disgraceful, but what do you expect from a girl born with a platinum spoon in her mouth? The cost of her ugly outfit is surpassed only by the cost of all the plastic surgery she's had to hide the ravages of drug use.
