Comments for Cindy McCain's Convention Outfit Cost $300,000 »
Posted By Jordan 1 year, 3 months ago in NewsOne of the persistent memes in the Republican line of attack against Barack Obama is the notion that he is an elitist, whereas the G.O.P. represent real working Americans like Levi “F-in’ Redneck” Johnston. It caught our attention, then, when First Lady Laura Bush and would-be First Lady Cindy McCain took the stage Tuesday night wearing some rather fancy designer clothes. So we asked our fashion department to price out their outfits.

I thought it curious that McCain's wife would choose to wear a diamond pin reading (in diamonds) "Navy/USMC." It seems disingenous when you're claiming to be the party of average people when each diamond in a stickpin you're wearing is worth more than the pay of a soldier you're supposed to be honoring with such a pin.

I don't see why there is such a fuss. If earning lesser than $5 millions is a middle class, then $300,000 dress is really a piece of cake. Perhaps the change is really coming, with high triple digit inflation coming that money will not be what it once was.

If you believe people are middle class who earn $5,000,000 a year then you better open your eyes and ears Cause there must be 98% of america living in poverty. So we better raise the minimum wage to $100 an hour . What an insult the $600 tax the president gave to the people. was enough to buy what? A new shoe, for McCains wife

McCain's $5mil answer came during the same interview event, the Saddelback Civil Forum, during which Obama stated that you become rich when you "sell 25 million books" - also in jest, reflecting host/moderator Pastor Rick Warren's own recent book sales.
Reply
We all have/had the opportunity to set and achieve our own goals, same as did McCain and Obama. I can fault only myself for not being where they are. What path did you take to reach your pinnacle? Why bemoan anyone else for their achievements?
I'd be willing to wager something else, that neither candidate got where they are by following his heart. They go there by study, investigating, evaluating, rationalizing, etc. along the way. They vote that way, too. (actually, Obama votes "present" noncommittal) more often than he votes "Yea" or "Nay" in senate).
Will you vote with knowledge of issues and candidates or because words and smiles make you feel good, that is, your heart?

That $5mil number that's being bandied about came from an answer McCain gave to a question asked by Pastor Rick Warren during the Saddleback Civil Forum. That's the same event during which Warren asked Obama what it takes to be rich, to which Obama answered, you are rich when you "sell 25 million books" - that, to reflect Warren's own recent book sales.

Similar answers to similar questions. Neither candidate meant his answer to be taken as serious beliefs.

Her brooch is not diamonds, it is made from rhinestones. It is much like the 'sweetheart jewelry' worn during WWII by proud mothers, wives and girlfriends. I actually have a WWII piece of jewelry that is very similar to what she is wearing and it is, most definetely, not made out of diamonds!!

Her choice of a Stick pin has nothing whatever to do with her support for the Military. How do you know what she donates in support of the military, soilders and their families. If she can affort the diamond stick pin, then why not! At least her diamond inscription has something good to say.

I think you need to focus on the issues not clothing or rhinestone jewelry. My wife has a similar pin .....says "new attitude" and its rhinestones! We make combined just under $58k. Seems like when the freight train is running at full speed ahead, you cant hear the dogs bark! Get used to it now....the Dems, liberal media and leftys are scared to death that they JUST MIGHT LOSE. I cannot imagine a hard left liberal President with a Democratically controlled Congress. It gives him a blank check.
Mark my words, the liberal-left media will ruin Obama's run for the Presidency. Just like when he said the other day....family, especially children are off limits....the media didnt care....they still went after Sarah Palin's family. HIstory WILL repeat itself again....the Dems will screw it up!-

No, but his brother lives in a mud hut in Africa on $12.00 a year. Maybe you should ask your (hero?) if he could at least send him an actual photo of himself instead of the poor guy cutting a picture out of the newspaper to put on the wall of his hut!!! Your hero is an oreo, and a racist bigot!!!

Personally, I can't imagine ANY party putting us into MORE debt than Bush and the Republican Congress has already. Heck... Bush even outspent Reagan... and THAT was NOT an easy thing to do!-

Talk about the 6 years of Bush and Republican Congress. Those six years had low unemployment, low gas prices, and an excellent economy. Then the Democrats got into Congress and everything has gone into the toilet. The poor have been voting for the Democrats for decades because they are promised the moon, and guess what.......they are still poor!!!!!!!

alf050478, Honey don't you know that the Democrats don't want to hear that it is the Democrats in Congress that has caused all the unemployment and hight cost in gas, food and everything else. They want to blame someone else for all the problems. It will not do any good to tell them the truth, they will not believe it. So when they start spouting off, just say to them:

Sarah, HERSELF, came under scrutiny because she couldn't keep her mouth shut and EXPOSED her daughter, so PLEASE don't sit there on your high horse and blame the Dems.Typical that what she SHOULD be talking about she's not, but then ran her mouth about her life.If the media came down on her that was HER FAULT.God, how pathetic.

Diamonds,Rhinestones . . . Whatever. Lets talk about the "Blank Check" the Bush administration had. Selling out our country to China,to pay for a misled war in Iraq. Stomping all over the Constitution, to get away with whatever they wanted. What are we up to,now ? 9 Trillion,or so ? If it wasnt for borrowed money,Iraq would have never happened, like it did. The American people would never have stood for it,if it had to come from taxes. Its the same old story. Big tax breaks for the rich, spend, spend, spend, and then make Democrats look like bad guys, for trying to be just a little smarter, fiscally. Trickle down economics has been tried, and it failed , badly.

uh, first off mccain's wife is the rich heiress not mccain. his assets are not a rich man's. she has a prenupt, and what is hers is hers. so all those houses he couldn't count makes sense since he doesn't own them, she does. not to mention i want a guy who doesn't know, cause it means he is so busy working hard he doesn't have time to sit around and count his money and brag like an al gore does. secondly...so what if she wore even a million dollar outfit....it's her money. she can do what she wants with it. grow up people. my money says she donates allot more to charity than the obamas do. this is the best you got? sad really...and it shows how democratic propaganda has brainwashed you. please start thinking on your own and do your own research and quit reading these false propaganda special interest "media" exposes. had you done your own research you would have seen all the fine details the dnc left out on purpose. typical.

I'm sure she donates plenty of money to charity. And if it is more than the Obama's then that is how it should be. Each charitable donation is a TAX EXEMPTION and she needs as many exemptions as she can get. More than the Obama's since her wealth is considerably more than their's.

Your tirade is as pathetic as it is sympathetic. Cindy McCain is in the limelight because her husband dumped his ailing wife. So much for family values. The current Ms. McCain is wealthy because, as is too often the case, her family had the true super-capitalist spirit. That's a buzzword for steal, just don't get caught. Wake up, j. Wake up.

Have you ever thought of READING the NEWS on Cindy McCain? She is a philanthropist (look up the definition...) and a great human being. She has been very successful in continuing the business of her family...although successful, she has also been very generous with that success in her "giving" to others as well.

But you will buy Obama's criminal friends that help him get a house, an evil pastor's influence for the past 20 years , and his serious lack of experience (because the absolute truth is that whatever lack of experience Palin is accused of having , Obama's record undoubtedly shows much less). Cindy Mc Cain has even earned more of a right to be President and to wear the pin she's accused of wearing. An knowing her, I bet she's given back a hell of a lot more money and sweat in her military and humanitarian efforts than Obama could possibly aspire.

In my opinion Cindy McCain can wear diamonds on her head if she wants. She and her family earned their wealth and should spend it any way they see fit. Her money has nothing to with our soilders pay or anyone else. Would you personally give your pay check to someone else and do without on a daily basis. I don't think so!!!!! Therefore what she wears or does not wear is irrelevant and has nothing to do with politics or this elections. As long as the money is coming from her pocket who is to say how she should spend it.

Michelle has done nothing compared. I beg of you to list more than FIVE things she has done that have helped people in third-world nations FIVE years ago. Please? I beg of you. I don't care about her weave, but I do care about mis-information. Michelle did prevent homeless, and poor people from getting medical service from the hosp she worked for. Is that why her salery was increased 160%, or was it because her husband was responsible for obtaining $1 million in pork barrel grant? YOU decide!

Its not just about what they wear. It is about how these people are able to relate to the middle/lower class citizens of the U.S. which make up 90% of our population. They are in the other 10% so couldn't possibly feel the dramatic effects of the plummeting economy. While everyone else is trying to figure out how they are going to save their house from forclosure, they're figuring out which designer dress to wear for the day. I'm sure they have done great things with their money, but it still does not mean that they can relate in anyway to the average American. They haven't had to face racism or fanancial hardship... and No, I am not black or any other type of minority, I am white; born and raised in Southern Ca. and I have seen what minorities have to encounter daily. I've even seen and heard it in my own house growing up. And even if Michelle did have a weave, even middle class americans spend a 1/3 of their paycheck to get their weave/extensions/pedicure/manicure/etc., so she's no different than any of us. So maybe clothes and hair are not direct political issues, but it gives a glimpse of what these people are really like aside from their scripted speeches, fist pumps, and catch phrases.

Well said. How can a person who never has to worry about paying a bill have any empathy for the rest of us? This is no different than when we were all peasants who were ruled by kings, queens, lords, and barons. We have, in essence, taken a giant step backward a few hundred years. Because you have to be rich to run for president. And the rich--whether the general public want to believe it or not--don't give a damn about the rest of us. They're not there to help us get ahead...they're there for more power and glory and to get even richer. Check out the Bush dynasty--oil men, who have gotten richer off the people each of the past few generations...and so on...

Obama's wife is the picture of a first lady. There is no need to knock any of the candidates wives or families because they aren't the ones running for office. If she wants to wear a $300,000 outfit, then that is HER business. That has NOTHING to do with the many issues this country faces. I'm not a McCain/Palin supporter but it is low to talk about his wife because she has done nothing except be his mate. To call Obama's wife nasty is just wrong and low. That is what makes a lot of people not support Republicans because it seems like instead of tackling the REAL issues, they look for ways to put others down and take the attention off of the fact that they got America in this slump and don't have any intentions of getting out.

It doesn't get much lower than that. She was feeding her own drug habit and lying about the theft all along. When her husband John the senator found out he tryed his damnest to make it go away thru the power of his office and was not able to. I must reply to the race issue. yes many people (not just people of color) complain about the oppression of their race. But take me for example. I am a single black woman. I have a bachelors and a masters and i am working on my literature review for my dissertation as we speak (for those lost...im working on a PhD) I have not been able to find a job in my field for over a year. Mind you i have 4 years experience besides the degrees. So give me one reason why i am in this predictament.

No education? Got it and then some
No experience? Got it
Sex? Sorry female
Race? African American
I once took a standardized test on a computer and scored in the top 5% in the math section. (this test is adminstered throughout the U.S. to get certified in my field name left off intentionally)
I retook the test 2 months later on paper to certify in my specialty and on the similar math section i failed by 1 point. This test was hand graded by "professionals"
When i questioned my test scores the representative told me to state that i was a white female and i went to a white southern college for training.
So should i play the race card in this situation or look within and see if i can find fault within myself.
Answers please.-

Sure slavery is over but does that mean that there are no rascists?? I moved to a white school last year and HOLY CRAP did i become ever aware of the color of my skin. It was the first time i got called a ******. When i go into certain stores the sales representatives watch me like hawks why? because of my color. My mother is a nurse and sometimes patients wont even let her TREAT them. why? because she is BLACK. IT makes me SICK to think that if i was my brothers complexion it would be different for me. My father is white. I just happen to be of a darker complexion. Why should that mean anything? I don't know but the point is IT DOES. finally i am so SICK of people saying blah blah blah the only reason black people vote for obama is cause hes black. well guess what i am voting for him because i could NEVER vote for someone who is anit-gay or anti-choice and to me not voting is the same as voting for the opposite side.

You are right. And I understand and have said that in one of the many posts on here, that racism does work both ways..But black people who are crying the race card do not see it that way...They think white people have it made here and we are all the same..White people lose jobs, and not get jobs not because of race..All I am saying is people using the race card is a poor excuse and it needs to stop..If we come together at some point this would be a happier place for all. When a white person goes to prison for a crime they commited, its not because they are white, its because they made mistakes...But I have seen to many times, black person goes to jail and the first thing is "because Im black" Or " if I was white I wouldnt be going to jail" ,and its pathetic....

4 years ago a Black crook walked into a Black bar and murdered an off duty Black cop. he went totrial and "BLAMED" the White man. It did not work of course but the moral of the story is that if he thought saying it was SUPERMAN'S FAULT to get him off, he would.

I understand but the Africans sold their own people to the white man and then they were brought to America. Slavery has happened in every country on Earth in some form or another. Being that not a single person alive in the US today was a slave during the day of Lincoln, you can't keep crying about it. Every race has had issues. According to history, the Irish immigrants got it way worse than any black person during colonial times. Jews had one hell of a time during Hitlers regime. Then their were the slaves during the building of the pyramids, the Chinese for the building of the wall, the Germans with their wall... and you can go on & on & on.

To move ahead, we, as Americans need to put the past behind, remember where we came from but still put the past behind & move on. Look at Oprah. Whether you like her or not, she has learned & grown from her past & become an absolutely amazing human being. She is pro people being better human beings, regardless of race.-

You obviously have NOT read or learned ANYTHING about slavery!!!!
Reply
1. The few HUNDRED that were sold by other Africans don't compare to the few MILLION kidnapped EVEN AFTER TAKING PEOPLE FROM AFRICA WAS OUTLAWED!!!!!!!
2. The Jews were killed for a decade. Blacks suffered for 250 YEARS!!!
3. The Irish? PLEASE. The ONLY PEOPLE BOTHERING THE IRISH WERE THE ENGLISH. Cry your river to them.
4. Your EXCUSE for slavery is as laughable as "THE WHITE MAN MADE ME DO IT" coming out of the mouth of anyone who think that will reduce their jail sentence.
THE BLACK PEOPLE GAVE US THE SLAVES AND MADE US TORTURE THEM!!!!
The best bet for you would be to stop trying to justify the evil actions of our White ancestors and ask anyone blabbing about slavery to tell it to the RICH WHITE PEOPLE whose families actually could AFFORD to own slaves.-

And besides the selling of people came from O-N-E that is 1 numero UNO tribal nation!

Saying that "AFRICANS" did it is an inaccurate generalization of thousands of tribal nations.

I find it sad that you feel the need to minimize the catastrophic and inhumane events involving the Jews and the Irish. The last of those survivors can still feel the pain of their experiences as if it happened to them yesterday... Shame on you! Guess what? My ancestors were Native American Indians. They too were forced into slavery, their children were taken from their tribes and families so that they could become "civilized." And this was well before blacks were forced into slavery in America. I, however, understand now that ignorance was the cause for all of those awful things to happen. Not necessarily evil. We have overcome ignorance. Yes, there is still some poor excuses for Americans who choose not to educate themselves and are, therefore, left narrow-minded, angry, and unwilling to see people for who they are on the inside. But as others have said, lets leave the past as the past, and move forward. The only solution is to teach our children that intolerance is ignorance.

Do you realize not all of the "white" American ancestors were even in this country during slavery? Many did not come to America until the early 1900's. Others have only been here for a few generations. To blame an entire race is not wise. There were many who came to the US who did not receive any special benefits while other did. Many "white" ancestors worked close to slave jobs just because they did not know the language, but they learned the language, learn how to adjust to the local customs, and made a better life without complaints for their families. Not everyone person who came to this country had it easy, even with their fair skin.

Do something constructive to shine a better image on your race. Facts are facts! Whites don't make crime, education, or welfare statistics against blacks! You do it to YOURSELF!!! You want to stay in the past! You want to hold everyone else responsible for YOUR life, other than YOU! Maybe all of you should go and live in New Orleans with your black mayor who refused buses to help "his own" people get out of there before the hurricane Katrina! My suggestion would be the advice my Father passed along to me...

Will you answer honestly about all of the white people in this counrty and around the the world that had absolutely nothing to do with slavery? No one in my family traced back to the thirtenth century had anything to with slavery. No one captured slaves,no one transported slaves,no one sold slaves,no one in my family owned slaves.I totally believe that the time of slavery in America history and around the world was completely wrong and immorale, so why is it that some black people fill that all white people are guilty and we all the white people in the world owe black people?

Do understand that it is far less a Black White issue than it is a RICH WHITES versus EVERYONE issue. These GOP types have treated working class White people like dogs for years. RICH WHite people maintained slavery, not working class WHites. RICH White people screwed over people during the industrial revolution, through this auto industry crap, major execs scamming the workers out of pensions, etc. But anytime a Black person says that 'white people' have done something wrong-i.e. the RICH White people-follks like yourself watchdog and run behind them to protect the blessed name of WHITENESS. Well guess what? There are a plenty of lying Black, corrupt politicians like the mayor of Detroit but there are just as many White ones. There has been MUCH racist behavior attributing to the general disenfranchisement of Blacks but even more for whites.

CONSIDER THIS: TTHERE ARE MORE WHITE PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY THAN BLACK SO WHEN WORKERS BY THE HUNDREDS GET SCREWED BY EXECS THEY ARE SCREWING BLACK, WHITE, AND OTHER...BUT FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR MORE SO WHITES!!!!!
So before you watchdog for the rich you hav eto ask yourself "If your WHITE self got sick would one of these RICH White people pay your medical bills for you because you are WHITE or will they say Cry Me A RIver and tell you to beat it?

It is shameful that race comes up. But it comes because it is. Fact ---Lincoln didn't free the slaves. He made a politically expedient decision. It was better that slaves be given some small measure of freedom in order to keep the union from becoming more divided. I was interested to notice that many people of other races were noticeably absent at the convention. To each his own. I vote for OBAMA because he says what I want to hear, not because of any other reason. You will vote as you feel for the same reason. ALso when blasting someone for their beliefs please don't let your racism and lack of education show.

Not as sick as I am about the blacks complaining all the time. Feeling sorry for themselfs just makes me sick. Instead of crying all the time poor me why don't you try to make things better for yourselfs. Look around every time White people apply for a job you black people have a better chance at getting that job because if they don't hire that black person they will cry again all the way to the lawyers office so they could sue the company. Then they cry how they can't go to college are you kidding if your white you get no hlep with college funds but if your black they just hand everything to you. Then there's he shot me because I'm black boo who again...If your told from a cop to stop then you stop because if you don't you will be shot. I f you want to get ahead in this world you need to come off of welfare and not think someone owes you something because you feel sorry for yourself. But, of course you don't know any better because your mother grandmother and rest of the family sponges off of the system so you think this is the way of life. I could go on and on but whats the sense. You will still cry and feel sorry for yourselfs. As far as Obama he is still in his heart a muslim which I don't trust because you can't change the spots on a leopard it is what it is. He really wasn't born in the USA which I can't believe we are allowing him to get away with that but thats because we have to or he will cry about being black OH WAIT A SECOND ISNT HIS MOTHER WHITE AND OF COURSE HER FAMILY so what does that really make him. A crying black man because its better that way which will make him win. So all you black people remember he is also WHITE and you will be voting for a WHITE MAN in a black mans body. So people get with it stop the nonesense and think who is the better party and think with your head not your eyes. As far as the black people stop crying so much do the right thing and realize only you yourself can make a change no one can change things for you. If you want something better for yourself you have to work for it clean up or act and head forward because it is what it is.

Look, I hate to say this. However, I too am sick of all of the racism and antagonism between blacks and whites. First of all if you have been paying attention, the GOP is no longer the rich part. I have been noticing that their demographic has been changing. Then you know what.....the country is 13 percent black, many of which don't vote and many of which switched to the democratic party as a result of Kennedy a long time ago. Prior to that time, it would have been a cold day in hell to see a black person vote for a democrat because historically black people had been republicans. However, I can assume that you are too young to realize this. Many of you who are posting these little racist rants actually have no physical contact with whites and have never personally had and racist events occur in your life. Thus your hate is unjustified and illogical. Half of the race problems are the result of both races and preconceived notions. You need to stop because outside of America all of you are Americans and no one likes you.

$300,000 she paid $300,000 for an outfit. WHAT THE HELL? The only comments on this article should be ones of outrage. $300,000. How in this whole wide world could anyone who is compassionate, considerate and a self proclaimed christian justify (to herself) paying $300,000 for an outfit. THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS. Now that's just plain evil. Christians know excess to this extent is just not right and those who excuse it need the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I did think she was an attractive women, now all I see is sheer ugliness that perhaps need to be shrouded in this material to hide its sheer hideousness. $300,000, and yet you speak up for her and try to justify her actions. All of this ranting and raving about $300,000.00 for an outfit is getting on my nerves almost as much as the race issue. So what if she paid $300,000.00 for an outfit? So would you if you could afford it. The bottom line is.....how do any of you know that she paid $300,000.00 for the outfit? You don't!! Somebody started that rumor and suddenly it's the gospel. Dear Gussie, give me a break!

The Republicans are waging a completly unjustified war in Iraq that has killed thousands of innocent people, including Iraqis and our troops, and Cindy wants to convince people she's a good person because she helped in third world countries and adopted a girl from Bangladesh.
Reply
Just a few weeks ago, McCain announced our troops will stay in Iraq for as long as needed, though he couldn't tell the difference between Sunnis, Shiites, and Al Qaeda and hasn't defined what we will win there and why so many people on both sides have
to die in Iraq on a daily basis. I did notice a war veteran protested because McCain voted to cut Veteran's benefits. It was all show, no substance, all hype, and all BS.-

It was a slip about the sunnis and shiites but Obama really thought there was 57 states!! I believe the Democrats voted also to go to war. It was also brought to the United Nations for a vote and passed. Mrs. McCain is a lovely lady and so is her heart.

from cindy mccain's speech:

"It's going to take someone of unusual strength and character — someone exactly like my husband — to lead us through the reefs and currents that lie ahead. I know John. You can trust his hand at the wheel. But you know what, I've always thought it's a good idea to have a woman's hand on the wheel as well."
how unaware and hypocritical can Cindy McCain be?
We can trust John McCain at the wheel?
I guess she forgot how many planes McCain crashed as a pilot. I don't want him driving anything, literally or figuratively.
and cindy has always thought it's a good idea to have a woman's hand on the wheel as well?

What is your standard of beauty? You are looking at a woman who has a nearly perfect profile, beautiful well-proportioned figure, great posture and walk, hair
that is beautifully coiffed and that simply glows for the camera, and a great

Beauty is a kind heart, a loving soul and person who finds good things in other people. A woman who cries real tears when someone hurts or does something to be proud of...that is beautiful. A woman who took someone else's husband, spends money she never earned and lies for social gains, is not beautiful...even if she could smile without cracking her botox. Not even a million dollar dress could cover up the stains her life has left on others.

Do you understand that comments such as this do not bring anyone to the Obama camp? You are mouthing off about things you have picked up, but as usual, no specifics. If you want to do Obama any good, be specific about what he has done and why his plans will work. I won't vote for Obama because he is black, and I won't vote for McCain because he was a POW. I will do my best to learn the truth about each candidate's record, and to understand how each plan my succeed or fail.

Disgraceful, but what do you expect from a girl born with a platinum spoon in her mouth? The cost of her ugly outfit is surpassed only by the cost of all the plastic surgery she's had to hide the ravages of drug use.
--------------------------------------------------...
Reply I'd say that every dollar of the plastic surgery money has been well spent. She's still beautiful, at age 54.
As for the drug use, Cindy McCain didn't mug, carjack, or housebreak, anyone. She took drugs from the charitable foundation, that she set up, to help unfortunate people of the world.
I'm delighted with her family's success. The outfit was a little too loud for me. I thought it would've been more appropriate, in the "Hood" but, I have no taste in fashion. I'm not a beer drinker, but, I think I'll go out and have a Bud.

I think it is ridiculous reading how people judge Cindy McCain on what she wears and than comment that she should be donating the money. No matter how much money she puts into charity (which is more, I am sure than the people griping about what she is wearing) people will complain if she decides to use HER money on herself. That money went to the business that made the pin, dress, etc. and that money does help someone. Why aren't we (bloggers/including myself) spending our time doing something more useful and charitable? How can you sit on your soap box and complain about what other people are doing with their money? John McCain has done the kind of work that many people would not have the guts to do. Who cares if his wife is rich. They aren't claiming to not have money. Unlike Obama who claims to be like everyone else with his 1.9 million $ house and conveniently when he joined the senate his wife's hospital received grants and she received a raise. Oh...but I am sure that was for the people. He worked so hard for low income housing....yeah right...what did he accomplish?? Getting low income housing run by slum lords so they needed to be shut down. Doesn't sound like an accomplishment to me. He has been in the Senate for 4 years and spent half of that campaiging for President. If you look at accomplishments and actually getting things done....this is a no brainer. Look at what McCain and Palin have actually ACCOMPLISHED for you. Obama has not Succeeded in accomplishing anything. Wake up America!!!!

--------------------------------------------------... working Americans" are losing their homes, because they're stupid. They're expecting "other hardworking taxpayers " to bail them out, when they've foolishly overspent. Did you ever watch "Little House, On The Prairie"? Did you ever hear of a budget? Did you ever hear the concept of saving for the things, that you need, or want? Most Americans are spending more than they're earning. In 2005, we had the first Negative Savings, year, since the depression of the early 30's. Even the "poor" in America, have more living space, clothing, food, entertainment, luxuries, than most of the people in the rest of the developed, world. If your grandparents, had done the same as Cindy McCain's parents, you'd be rich, too. That is, unless, you spent more than you earned, as most of us, are currently doing. Cindy McCain adopted one of those unfortunate children. What have you, or your family done for the betterment, of mankind? Hoping, does not count, as an accomplishment.

You really hit the nail on the head. The scary part is that many of the hard-working Americans you refer to are McCain's fiercest supporters. It's like they're all drinking the Koolaid, ie. brainwashed by the "I'm a hard working stiff just like you", which worked so beautifully on them 8 years ago. And the whole candidate-as-former- Vietnam-war-hero being crammed down our throats, is nothing more than a ploy designed to make people feel guilty for not rewarding his heroism with our votes. If we've learned anything about post traumatic stress disorder in the last decade, McCain is LESS likely, not more, to have the neccessary inner reserves to take on such an immense challenge as the role of president of the United States. I hope the spell that's been cast on these misguided folks, will wear off before November. For myself, it's still true that I'm neither rich enough, nor nasty enough, to call myself a Republican.

Do you like the alternative?? Lets keep on giving Iraq, etc. more money for oil and help pay for our own demise? If we drill that will save us from giving money to people that want us dead and in the meantime we can work on other sources of fuel. Or we can keep contributing money to other countries and pull out of Iraq at the same time while they plot on how to kill more Americans, but at least Alaska will still be untouched and preserved....for what?? We would keep the world greener by not shipping our oil from so far (yeah...it has to get here somehow....ever think about that?), but maybe you don't care about the planet and only your "idea" of what should be preserved and what shouldn't.

Well it sure sounds like a great idea to work your "arse" off and not be able to make any more money. I like being able to earn a higher income as I expand my investments or if I want to change my direction. There are many ways to make money in this country if you are clever. I know bad luck can fall on anyone, but I would never want to see this country lose its free trade. There is no way to perfect it, but if the CEO has that position, hey he has earned it and if I were working for that company I would be working up the ladder or looking for the next job that would get me where I want to go. People don't plan ahead for rainy days. How many people have high medical bills because they didn't pay for medical insurance and instead bought a car that was a little nicer, or a larger tv. Just about everyone spends more than they should and then there are those that want the gov't to be the safety net instead of making their own. Plan!!! Look at what the victims of Katrina did when they were given money....the casinos were making bank!!

Do you think I get better treatment becasue I'm white. Think again!!! I get waited on by some Black, Asian or Hespanic and they look at me or even ignore me becasue I'm white. A woman, white and trying to make ends meet I have fought my way in the work world with men and there self righteous ways and belittle women of all races. Please we all feel pertiagous against. I'm sick and tried of people coming form other countries and start complaining about what they don't get in America. I can't get a darn thing becasue I'm not Asian, hespanic or Black. Also, his wife is rich in own right and McCain signed a pre-nuptial agreement before getting married.
Oh, I have been a Democrat for 41 years until I saw a picture of Obama not saluting the flag and heard the racist discriminatory remarks that came from his own mouth. My Dad did not fight for 4 years in WWll to have his country put down especially by someone hoping to be President.

It is interesting that the GOP wants to call Obama an elitist. Obama doesn't own so many homes/properties that he can't remember. Obama doesn't think anyone who makes less than $5 million is middle class. McCain has already said that economics isn't his strongest area because he doesn't have to worry about money. Now who sounds more like an elitist?

The Title of this article misleads people to beleive that Cindy McCain is wearing a $300,000 dress. If you read the whole article it states that her "outfit" was worth that "IF" she was wearing $280,000 earrings (3 karats), plus her watch, shoes, and dress, etc.
Reply
The writer states these are estimates based on outsiders with the assumption her earrings where real and estimates the values of other pieces of her wardrobe. These estimates are riduculous and are only trying to make her out some rich b----, which she is not. She has donated a lot of her time in other countries to worthy causes, as did Princess Diana. Cindy McCain is a class act... she volunteered on her own, not for any political gain... and I think she would be a gracious first Lady! She even adopted a daughter from the orphanges of Mother Teresa thru project smile.... a true humanitarian. MC Cain - Palin 2008! -

I find it strange that people are making comments that Cindy McCain should donate her jewelry or the money that she spends on clothes to some type of charity. She, like other wealthy Americans, pay the vast majority of the Federal income taxes collected each year. She has already made her contribution as have the rest of the wealthy who pay far more than their fair share of taxes each year.

Everyone is missing the whole symbolism of the pin, It is to honor John Mccain's time spent in the Navy as well as her father and her son who is in the Marines. the blue star is to show the public she has a loved one in the military... Who cares how much it cost. She is an heiress to a company,

I watched the convention for the past three nights. I saw plenty of people of all races and colors at the RNC. Not all Republicans are white rich people. Just like all Democrats are not poor black people. Instead of worrying about the cost of Cindy McCain's outfit try taking a look at her history of helping others. It should not matter whether someone is helping a person in the USA or whether it's a person in another country.

The fact that I will not vote for Obama has nothing at all to do with the color of his skin. Instead, it has to do with his policies and beliefs. I do not agree with any of his policies. -

I don't understand. She is a wealthy woman who's family earned their fortune honestly. She has a track record of charitable works and giving that would put most people in her wealth bracket to shame. Is she not entitled to wear a pair of diamond earrings that are easily within her reach financially? Give me a break!

And another thing, I have black friends and I asked them if they listened to Obama or McCain. They told me no. Then I asked who are you going to vote for and they told me Obama and I asked why are you going to vote for him his issues and what he stands for or becasue he is Black and they told me becasue he is Black. I was in shock didn't even know a thing about the what he stood for just becasue he is Black. If that is the reason why it is sad that people vote for someone becasue of color and not what they stand for. I'm democrate but when I vote for Pesident I'm independant I want in office the best one to protect this country. This country is in a mess but Barack nor McCain to me are the best choices but they are the ones that we have to vote for. They will pick on each other for 2 more months but when everything is said and done who would be the best one to fill the presidents seat. I don't know Black or white makes no difference to me they both have there idea's but to vote for someone who is Black or white only is a sad thing. But thats the world we live in.

Seriously, with what is at stake I cannot believe there is nothing better to do than take cheap shots at people because of their wardrobe or how they look. It is however laughable to read some of these immature comments. Cindy’s parents were not born wealthy, they made a gamble and worked hard. So she’s rich, many politicians, in both parties, are. You want to throw stones, then I hope you live in glass houses. Are you flawlessly beautiful? How is your soul? How many hours a year do you contribute to charity? How many children have you adopted? Cindy is wealthy enough that she could just write the checks and make contributions, she goes way beyond that, she gives of herself. Yeah, terrible lady. Let’s see, knows how to dress to impress immature jerks, vs. aiding in the effort to get rid of land mines? Wow, tough one.

Apparently nobody remembers the Kennedy family dynasty? These people have more money than they know what to do with. There ARE rich Democrats you know. In fact, you cannot name one elected Democrat who is poor. There aren't any!! The only poor ones are those of us out here trying to decide who we're going to vote for. Good grief ... this isn't the first time the women of either party have worn expensive designer clothes.
Reply
I see notes on here about Sarah Palin dressing like she shopped at Wal-Mart and notes about Cindy McCain dressing too expensively. This just means that you can't please all the people all the time and no matter what any of them say or do, there's always going to be somebody else who whines about it.
Grow up for crying out loud. I wish people put this much time and effort into learning the facts about each of the candidates. The fact that somebody spent/borrowed/rented/whatever a lot of money on a dress doesn't mean that John McCain would be a bad President. Same could be said about whatever Michelle Obama wears. What in the world does this have to do with anything?!
There's always going to be somebody richer than you, have more toys than you, go more places than you. Maybe you should get off the computer and go get an education, a job, work toward whatever you want. Sitting around waiting for somebody to hand it to you will be a long and lonely wait. -

Does anyone remember Jackie Kennedy? Like JFK, some politicians are rich, and marry into monied families (some, like FDR, marry into their own families, but that's a different story). Some politicians don't have a lot of family money, but nonetheless marry wealthy women. Some of these latter are so unfazed by this wealth that they can't tell you off the tops of their heads how many houses they own. Is this a bad thing? I am NOT rich, but my wife has more than I, and if you want to know what we own, you'd better ask her. I am simply uninterested in money matters, and she's very good. Now, I dress myself, and she dresses herself. She looks better, but I don't care (if I run for President, I'll hire a consultant). So who can't understand this, and what is the significance of all this crap chatter?

You want to know where McCain’s patriotic pin is? Forget about his political career, this man served in our military, he was a POW. Did you notice how he can’t raise his arms above his shoulders? That’s his patriotic pin. There are plenty of ways for each of us to make a case for the candidate of our choice. Questioning either candidate’s patriotism is not the way. It is completely uncalled for.
I am still undecided about who will receive my vote. But I’ve got to tell you, posts like this certainly aren’t doing Obama any good.

What matters are these urgent questions that need to be asked of each candidate:
1. What do you plan to do about the massive debt the United States owes to China; stemming from the money America has been borrowing from China to pay the trillions of dollars in costs for the Iraq "war."
2. How do you plan to continue to pay for this war without raising taxes or borrowing money from other countries?
3. How do you plan to keep Medicare and Social Security solvent, especially since these costs are expected to double within the next five years?
4. How do you plan to keep both agencies solvent without raising taxes?
5. How do you plan to keep from raising taxes when tax revenue is already way down because of the housing crisis?
6. What is your actual plan to deal with the war in Iraq, including troop pullout, maintaining an American presense in the middle east, and giving money promised to Iraq for rebuilding? Provide details, not platitudes.
7. What do you plan to do about our crumbling infrastructure, including damns and highways? Where do you plant to get the money for this?
8. Each candidate has promised more jobs. Do you have a detailed plan to keep jobs in America? Do you have a detailed plan to cut tax breaks for companies which outsource American jobs? Please give those details. -

What a bunch of idiots. What's the big concern about someone's clothes? If I could afford it, you'd better believe that I wouldn't hesitate to wear them. So your 'fashion police' take a guess as to cost, so you can lambaste her with nonsense. Cindy McCain has poured millions of $$$ and lots of her time in charitable work. How many of you can make even an infinitessimal comparison in charitable donations or work. Somehow I get the impression that you are only interested in charities that involve other peoples' time and money.

I'm reading all these comments from people who, I guess, think they are informed and know what is going on. The cost of Cindy's dress is really a deep subject to be wasting all this time and space on. The 22 year old kid across the street is driving a fully equiped mustang convertible. I couldn't afford one like that. I am envious, but I'm not letting it consume me. Expensive dress, rhinestone or diamond pins. Who cares. An if you think John & Cindy McCain or Michelle or Barrock Obama really give a damn about you or me, then give me a number to get ahold of you. I have some Looosiana swamp land for sale.

Obama bothers me because he spoke of how his mother struggled as a single mom going to college when she was nearly finished with college when he was born. Then he says he was raised in a white house by his middle class white grand-parents. But, he went to an expensive prep school, Yale, Harvard (no cheap education here): WHERE DID THE MONEY COME FROM? Who WERE HIS BENEFACTORS? Do we have a sleeper here. A Manchurian candidate. I wish a candidate like Harry Truman would come along. Honest, straight forward and no bull. You're troubled by the lack of blacks in the Republican Party? Well, guess what -- so are we. When President Eisenhour started the civil rights movement by FORCING the admission of black children into public schools (over the adamant refusals of the southern Democrats, especially Gov. Faubus in Arkansas, who were continuing the oppression of the blacks), his intention was for the black race to receive education to prepare them for a decent life in this country. We were appalled at the hatred and violence to little children. When the Democrats realized what was happening, they got the brilliant idea of, instead of an education, that they would start the government 'handouts', which would 'buy' them votes. So began the 'Great Society'. The fact that the 'handouts' were only given to families where there was no father figure decimated the black families, since the fathers either had to leave the home or hide from the authorities. Now we are all reaping the benefit of the 'buying' of the black vote. At the time this all began (in the '50s) I was in high school and was puzzled by the attacks on school children who were turned away from the schools, because I attended an integrated school (in Indiana) and had no idea at that time that there was such hatred of the blacks in the south. Now the democrats continue to 'own' the black votes. Too bad.

Personally, the issue I find most incredible is the fact anyone would pay for such a hideous dress in the first place! It looks like someone ripped the curtains out of a funeral parlor to make her dress. In fact, EVERY dress she has worn at the convention was hideous! What's with the extreme colors? A lime green dress that looked like a large green potato sack... the unbelievable matching fire engine red dress that matched her incredibly over weight daughter's, a stiff, mustard yellow dress with a collar that looked like it was ripped off of Dracula's cape... it all made her ugly blue, two piece outfit look pretty good!

Wake up America! Capitalism made this country great! The idea that a person who worked hard & worked smart could find a lot of success allows every one of us to have a dream for a good future. So Cindy wore an expensive outfit & diamond brooch. Baracks idea is to take the money from the wealthy and distribute it as he sees fit. The wealthy are taxed at a rate that approaches 50 cents on every dollar as it is. He wants to jack that even more. That sounds pretty socialist to me and it surely takes the incentive away from working hard for a bigger piece of the pie. I'm not a rich guy but I say good for her!

I think that the use of the word "disingenuous" is contradictory. Mrs. Mccain is a genuine Republican, and her outfit reflects the demographic of the targetted donors. CIndy McCain is also a genuine beer heiress with her own very real fortune to spend and may have owned the diamonds (which up the cost of the "outfit" )for decades. I think she's a nice lady in the spot light and is dressing up for the event as per the expectations of her fellow Republican Party members. I'm a very liberal Democrat and I'd expect a populist (for the people) candidate to be frugal with outfit expenditures, but am not surprised by the price tags of Republican outfits--fashion is a retail business and Mrs. Mccain has always had her own money and lots of it. Think about how mucyh beer you drink--her family is the one who gets it to the liquor store and the bars you roll out of. QUit drinking so much and she'd have a smaller bank, maybe.

I'm just into the election issues, not the distractions--esp. catty "price tag comments about outfits of the candidate's wives. Let's stick with real issues and real critiques... unless the catty gets really interesting... For example I live in So Cal and most people would be surprised by the price of a "high end" hair-do. WHat did Palin's marmish bun cost, do you think? LOL. -

The speakers with formal education will be put down by the people who are not highly educated. THINK ABOUT IT. Didn't she look great!! The way a first lady should look. I have always thought it was funny when people said Michelle Obama dressed like Jackie O. Jackie must be rolling over in her grave. Did you catch Michelle floral purple number at Barry's speech..LOL

Her father earned his money the old-fashioned way. If you happened to see the video on her, her father came back from WWII, struggled to put together $10,000, and put it into the first beer distributorship in AZ. Isn't that what we all want? To work hard and succeed? I applaud her for her good works and charity around the world. If she wants to wear expensive jewelry, so what? It's not like she's a Paris Hilton, sitting on her arse all day, looking stupid.

Once again, the media is just a tad misleading. You have to remember to check the information you are being spoon fed for yourself. Had most commentors read the article, they would have found this disclaimer from Vanity Fair WAY at the end of their article:
Reply
"(All prices except Laura’s shoes and Cindy’s watch are estimates, and the jewelry prices are based on the assumption that the pieces are real.)"
They actually admit they don't know what kind of shoes Cindy McCain is wearing, but they price them out at $600 anyway.
One other thing: maybe the outfits were comped. it's not unusual for designers/stores to comp their clothing and accessories for the free publicity and exposure they get. Consider the red carpet at the endless round of quick-pat-me-on-the-back-I-can't-get-enough-of-mys... awards shows. Regardless, I wonder how many people who had the means of the wealthy wouldn't find themselves shopping Rodeo Drive, too. -

What the heck does slavery have to do with this? Now I am a black woman myself and a PROUD Obama supporter but I am soooo tired of slavery being brought up. that was a long time ago people...a loonnnggg time ago. Not an excuse anymore. Get over it. Blacks have just as much oppurtunities as whites in this country, and just like any other race, it is up to YOU to take advantage of it. It has nothing to do with the color of our skin but the content of our character. So all of you people arguing with each other on here are a mess....get over it and lets get back to the real issues because we can all argue ourselves blue in the face but on November 4th, only one side can win.

Please tell me you people are not THAT stupid. Do you really think that the pin Cindy McCain wore was made with real diamonds? How many of those same kitchy pins have you seen in the local novelty store? Cindy McCain is CEO of a 100 million dollar business but I think she has enough sense not to wear a pin with real diamonds.

Hmmm ... Cindy's attire does imply a certain unrelatability to the average American woman, doesn't it? Too bad she spent so much on that banana dress. It was hideous. Seriously, it's her money and she can spend as she likes. Still, if it were me, I'd at least tone it down during an election year.

Gosh, must be a dull news day. It so hard to believe the "press" has nothing else to pick up on these days. How much her outfit costs, label?, diamond pin, etc. The woman has money. The woman comes into this election was a wardrobe. What's she supposed to do ... throw it out and buy Middle Class stuff so you idiots won't have something to write about?! I can't believe how stupid you are! Stick to facts on issues that affect our nation, not someone's wardrobe or jewelry! Egad!

How about you guys cry about it. I am in the military and I know that they fully support me. They have the money and they can spend it how they want to. Who are we to say what someone can and cannot buy. If I was a millionaire I would get whatever the hell I wanted and not a damn thing anyone said would matter...

I am sorry, but you know what the problem is, there are too many lazy, stupid people in this country. GO TO COLLEGE !! get a degree and then you won't have to be in the middle class. There are way to many lazy ass people who just settle for the next best thing, like Macdonald's. And don't even say I can't afford college, thats a load of b*ll Sh*t, there are plenty of opportunities for grants and scholarships. If more people would go to college and get better paying jobs then more people could go out and by them selfs nice things. STOP BEING LAZY! Its your OWN fault no one else's, don't blame it on the country, we did it too our selfs!

Obama convinced me to vote for McCain, he said if you haven't been hurting the last 8 years then vote for McCain. I am middle class and married with one child. The household makes less than 80K a year. Might I add that we are in our 20's with no college degrees higher than an associates. We have not been hurting only getting stronger. My husband is a union member and I am medical. I have a great respect for someone like McCain who was a POW. I truely believe he is the most qualified to be comander in cheif.

Too bad McCain isn't supported by the unions--Obama is. Get some more facts before you throw your support one way or another over one sound bite. My household makes less than yours, I am a union member, and I too have a child; I'm more concerned about bettering my family in the future, not sticking with the status quo. Better educational programs, a better economy, and more and better jobs lie with the Democrats, NOT McCain and the Republicans. On a side note, you might want to look into Palin's abortion/birth control policies--she is for none at all--that's right no pills, shots, or even condoms. Since when do politicians have the right to tell us what to do with our own bodies and family planning practices.

Can someone tell me why wealthy people are expected to give and donate everything they have to other people? McCain's wife comes from money and she is wealthy and she has the right to do whatever she wants with that money. I am so sick of people in the country wanting a handout from everyone. I will tell you what kind of donation the McCain's are making--they are going to devote 4-8 years to having no privacy, being attacked by the media, and worrying about everything that goes on in this world, in order to serve this country. Combine that with the years that McCain himself devoted to military service for this country, and they have donated more than any of you people that are looking for a free hand out have ever donated. If the bottom feeders in this country would learn how to fend for themselves instead of looking for a freebie, we wouldn't have all the problems that we have. My husband and I both came from blue collar, paycheck to paycheck families, and instead of sitting around and whining about it, we went to college and got out and worked our butts off and now we are very well off. The republicans help those who help themselves. The democrats like for the citizens of this country to be dependent on government and its hand outs, So until you bottom feeders start contributing to society in a positive way, don't ask a woman who EARNED the money for her outfit to donate it to anyone!

Dems really need to quit promoting the "class envy" tactic. It does work for them however but only on people who buy into the bull stereotypes of both parties. Ask yourself honestly - when something like this (cost of her dress) bothers you in some way - why does it? Pretty much all you have is "jealousy" of success. It can't be anything else - everyone in Washington has money - unfortunately you can't even run for office unless you do. There are no "mr smith goes to Washington" anymore - so to single her out or mccain or anyone else for that matter, and say they're no in touch with "YOU" is absolutely ridiculous. Either is Obama or Biden or Bush or anyone else you could possibly name - in terms of economic standing - so grow up

So Vanity Fair presumes to know the brands of clothes and shoes Mrs. Bush and Mrs. McCain were wearing? Who did they check with, Michael Moore? My guess is that they just presumed the women were wearing the most expensive brands they could conjure up.
Reply
By the way, isn't Vanity Fair a fairly liberal magazine that has lost a number of libel suits against it? And didn't it do a puff pieced on Obama and a hit cover on McCain? I think their bias is quite evident. -

So if Cindy WAS wearing a 300.000 dress...she sure stimulated someones economy....so let's put this in perspective...someone that has millions...I don't think spending that little amout on a dress put her back much.....I think it's time for the have not's to get off the backs of the one's that have made something of their lives.....she gives so much .....if everyone would just do SOMETHING besides talk ....when's the last time someone asked their neighbor if they needed help...or if they were doing ok. Not saying people don't but most everyone is just out for themself. Everyone keeps saying God bless America...don't see how he can when we take God out of everything........maybe we're reaping what we've sewn......

Are we now going to discrimminate against people because they are rich? Should Cindy McCain be punished for being weathy? Isn't this what our society promotes, health, wealth prosperity? The McCains' haved never denied their wealth and relating to people is more than about money. Nobobdy seems to complain about celebrities involved in politics who are just as or more wealthy than Cindy McCain. Let's focus on their character, what they've done, how they have served others, where they spend their time, etc... We have no idea how much people give away to others in need. Please don't judge or react out of jealousy, let's be grown-ups.

I cannot believe you people...This story was fabricated just to talk about something. First- there is an "estimate" on everything here but the shoes. NO ONE checked. This is all made up and we are falling for it! No one commented on Michelle Obama's out fit either (I don't think she had that lovely thing laying around). Also, these people are often given donations of designer duds to wear in public (as most recent first lady's have been since Jackie!) PLEASE don't fall for this nonsense!!

1.) Thanks AOL--the link to this story simply said 'McCain's Outfit cost $300K", implying that it was HIS outfit, not his WIFE'S. Yet another dig by AOL against McCain, which is one reason I'm switching ISP's at the end of September.
Reply
2.) The article clearly states that 300K is an ESTIMATE and assumes the jewelry was real. Take off the diamond earrings and you're left with an outfit around $20K. Still excessive, but nowhere near as outrageous-sounding as $300K.
None of this is changing my vote for John McCain. I vote based on SUBSTANCE, not STYLE. -

Cindy McCain wore a $3000 Oscar De La Renta dress, a $4500 Chanel J12 white ceramic watch, 3 CARAT diamond earrings worth $280,000, a four strand pearl necklace $11,000-25,000, and $600 shoes. The earrings alone are the average annual income of six middle class persons. Yes, John and Cindy McCain are soooo middle class and in touch with the regular voter. Give me a break!

Okay, Cindy McCain appears in a $300,000 Convention outfit. Anyone notice that Obama held his acceptance for nomination in 75,000 seat stadium that cost a fortune as opposed to the Pepsi Center which wasn't good enough for him? Hillary called him an "elitist" I guess for good reason. In that vain, I see nothing wrong with McCain's choice of apparel.

There is something definitely wrong with both sides, raising millions in campaign monies and spending that kind of cash for fashion and showy displays of vulgar spending, when the citizens of this great country are losing their homes, vehicles and medical coverage for their families because they have lost their jobs, been cut down to part-time, or lost benefits. We critisize so called men of God that squeeze blood from the poor, under the quise of tithes, while they live high off the hog...yet these men who want to be leaders of this country do the same to the suffering citizen, and that's ok? Some unknown force of darkness came in the middle of the night and stole the souls and brains of almost all Americans.

Could someone please tell me why this crap is news??!! I am a very moderate leaning Republican, and I'm sick to death of you freakin' liberals attacking everything about the candidates and not sticking to the issues! So what if Cindy McCain wore a designer outfit to the convention (and I find it very hard to believe it cost 300-grand)!! Cindy McCain is a gracious woman who doesn't toot her own horn and go on publicly about how much work she does do for the underprivelaged. Get a freakin' life!

I am not a McCain fan, but too bad that we allow ourselves to get stuck in the mud and obsess about Cindi McCain's clothes! Who cares??? She is a Billionaire and can afford it! She did not take one penny from me or my family for her outfit! Would I feel better about Mc Cain or the Country if she wore a flour sack?!?! Her clothes have no impact on the economy, lost jobs, foreclosures, etc! This is all a smoke screen for more important issues!

I can not believe how many people are focusing on what Cindy McCain was wearing. I’ve seen quite a few “welfare moms” who own $300-$1500 purses and drive luxury cars because their kids are being put through school by the “have had to work for everything and now have to pay for everybody” middle class.
Reply
I am more offended by the fact that Obama said his mom was able to attend college because she was on welfare, than by what Cindy McCain was wearing. It would have been a lot easier for a lot of people if they would have spit out a couple of kids, gone on welfare and then gone to college on the tax payer’s dime.
The problem as I see it is that too many people today think they are entitled.

Come on!! Why would you put "fake" diamonds on a $300,000 outfit? Her shoes were no less than $1,200 and you think she would war a $5.00 rhinestone pin on that outfit...she probably doesn't even own jewelry that comes from the Dollar Tree! Most of us 'working class" folks can't even shop at the same places where she has it cart blanche!!

300 grand for a dress, if this woman had any character, she would have purchased a rag for 10 grand, and given the rest of the money to help feed all the little children that go to sleep each night in America with empty bellies. Elitism is disgusting!

Cindy McCain is rich. She can spend her money like she wants to. That money helped someone make a living. The people that made the material to the person that sewed the dress to the person that sold the dress to Cindy. There sure is a lot of jealousy aimed at her and Sarah Palin. It would be nice if we could all have as much as they have. It sounds like both of them have worked hard. They are both very pretty women and both seem to be nice in their own way.

Here's the thing...Cindy McCain is rich in her own right. While her husband is running for President and is the GOP nominee, she is not. She has millions and like all of the stars you watch with bated breath, she has the money to buy clothes like these. I think both candidates have good and bad qualities...this is simply just a stupid article that is wasting space...let's talk about the real issues people!
