Here's a great little description of exactly what it was that Giuliani and Palin were mocking:

    As another commentator said:

"Please remember, Jesus was a Community Organizer and Pontius Pilate was a Governor."

The responsibilities of being mayor of a town of 5,000 were so great that Palin had to hire a city administrator to run her town for her. That begs the question: Who is running Alaska?

Nobody is mocking community organizers in church basements and community centers across the country working to improve their neighbors' lives. What deserves ridicule is the notion that Obama's brief stint as a South Side rabble-rouser for tax-subsidized, partisan nonprofits qualifies as executive experience you can believe in.

What deserves derision is "community organizing" that relies on a community of homeless people and ex-cons to organize for the purpose of registering dead people to vote, shaking down corporations and using the race card as a bludgeon. -- Michelle Malkin

If only this pit bull from Alaska had worked as a "community organizer" making students aware of the dangers and immorality of illegitimate pregnancy, she would not have been in the position now of accepting an illegitimate grandchild in to her arms.

I work as a volunteer at a local hospital and also at a school where my grand daughter is enrolled. There is no greater satisfaction to myself and the gratitude I get for my efforts.

We don't need these Republican rednecks telling us that my work is worthless.

Hopefully, the American people saw through Palin's attempted comparison between her job as mayor and the O'Bamas work on the South Side of Chicago. Has anyone visited there lately? There is much to be done, but evidence of the work they accomplished there is real. Chicago is proud of its neighborhood communities, and collectively the neighborhoods build Chicago. Michelle Obama was instrumental too in building a network of "Public Allies," to reduce crime and unemployment. (http://www.barackobama.com/learn)

Talk about grasping at straws! She wasn't belittling "community organizers" but was simply showing that being one does not qualify someone for the presidency and that the responsibilities of such a job are actually less in general than that of a small town mayor. Remember the context - Obama ridiculed her credentials by attacking her previous position as a small town mayor (completely ignoring the fact that she's governor of the largest state, the biggest oil producer and the only one that borders two foreign nations) while his executive resume consists of "community organizer" and chairing the Woods Fund on which domestic terrorist Bill Ayers served. It is akin to being a fry cook at Del Taco and ridiculing the cook at Denny's for trying to get a job as the assistant chef at Spago while maintaining that your experience at Del Taco qualifies you to be Spago's head chef.

      The simple fact
For too many years now, the conservative right of America has been running on 'the simple facts', - falsehoods that turned war into peace, cowards into patriots, neglect into governance, theft into business.

When faced with complex issues, the right found a simple lie; and defended it with flag and bible and color-coded terror levels.

But like deficit spending, Jose, truth-deficits catches up with you eventualy.

The Republican party has become a crowd of babbling fools, cheering how they will bring change, - to the policies they still support; cheering how they are outsiders, - in their own regime.

McCain; rebelling against his own 25 years of service!

Modern 'rightists' label anyone who wants to bring real competition back to America, as 'socialists'.

Of course Obama is no socialist; he is a harvard lawyer who has made a fortune on his own efforts, and wants to see others have that same chance. Capitalism.

Because such people as Obama are the real capitalists, Jose; and that should frighten the hell out of people who don't work for a living,

The simply fact is that Obama is a full blown socialist and if the American people figure it out he'll suffer a Dukakisesque defeat.

There is a delicious irony in The Windfall Tax Kid mocking community organizers.

For years, Cons have tried to tell us they are for "smaller" government, but then cheer when one of their own demeans those who choose to work in the community because they are not part of the government.

Oh, Cons, does it ever rain in the Cons Culture of Lies and Incompetence?

Sorry liberals. We're already overdosed on Grievance Theatre from Muslims who are more agitated by a frikkin cartoon than when a Muslim girl is gang-raped by her male relatives, then stoned to death by those same male relatives for bringing "dishonor" on the family by letting herself be gang-raped.

You wanna whine? Find someone who cares. We don't.

She was pointing out that listing Community Organizer on Obama's reume was not a qualification for President..

To put Palin anywhere next to Biden or Obama is a joke.

What is it about Republicans, they just love to put unqualified morons in a position of power, then laugh when cities drown, or wars start, because they don't care a crap about anything but greed, racism, ignorance, religion and more greed.

Republican values as manifest in the most unqualified vice ever to be nominated for the PTA or Vice: Ignorance and religious dogma, racism, arrogance, self promotion and self serving, greed, greed, greed, greed, and more ignorance. The ability to attack people for what it is you are doing yourself. Like Haggarty preaching against gay marriage while being sodomized while smoking crack.

Republican fantasy: Jesus was a white rich status quo son of a rich white status quo conservative, Jesus hated blacks, mexicans, hated the poor, and worshipped the rich. Jesus wanted to create a Teliban theocracy where women didn't vote, and anyone with a non white skin was a slave with no rights.

Jesus want to drill drill drill so he can drive his suv cheap, Jesus wants americans to buy all their cheap plastic crap at walmart, jesus was a televangelist rebublican ignorant money grupping greedy white man. Praise the baby jesus, Praise the pot smoking Palin, who neglects her children to run for govenour then accept the nomination for vice, praise the delusional swiftboating hyprocrites, republican jesus is on their side.

"In theory, community organizing provides a way to merge various strategies for neighborhood empowerment. Organizing begins with the premise that (1) the problems facing inner-city communities do not result from a lack of effective solutions, but from a lack of power to implement these solutions; (2) that the only way for communities to build long-term power is by organizing people and money around a common vision; and (3) that a viable organization can only be achieved if a broadly based indigenous leadership — and not one or two charismatic leaders — can knit together the diverse interests of their local institutions."

"This means bringing together churches, block clubs, parent groups and any other institutions in a given community to pay dues, hire organizers, conduct research, develop leadership, hold rallies and education campaigns, and begin drawing up plans on a whole range of issues — jobs, education, crime, etc. Once such a vehicle is formed, it holds the power to make politicians, agencies and corporations more responsive to community needs. Equally important, it enables people to break their crippling isolation from each other, to reshape their mutual values and expectations and rediscover the possibilities of acting collaboratively — the prerequisites of any successful self-help initiative."

I would argue that this type of experience would be very beneficial to any candidate for public office, even the presidency.

This is politics, folks. Can anyone tell me what exactly did Obama do as a community organizer? I'm just trying to understand EXACTLY what he did, his accomplishments as a community organizer. All it says in researched data is south side of Chicago, which is a very large area, what neighborhood specifically. And where did he get all his money? Not from that job. And not from the Senate. So where? Sorry, I'm trying to get convinced, I was a Hillary fan, I need convincing on Obama, someone out there help me!!!!!

community organizers are often volunteers. i thought conservatives were all about volunteerism. community organizers sometimes work for non-profit institutions for low pay and minimal benefits; often these non-profit institutions are church-based. i thought conservatives were enthusiastic supporters of faith-based activism. sometimes community organizers are paid for by grants paid for by corporations, public social institutions, private foundations and even neighborhood associations.

the bottom line is that community organizers help communities to become more self-sufficient by addressing the specific needs of that particular community. i thought republicans were all about self-sufficiency.

becoming a community organizer is a calling, not a job. generally the individual sacrifices a gracious standard of living and top dollar earnings to help others. considering all this, how can some of you snipe about anyone involved in such noble causes?
