You are correct that this administration added government and left us with a huge deficit. To be fair, we are a country at war in a time when we were attacked on our own soil. I believe President Bush did the best that he could do under the circumstances, and he has kept this nation safe since 9/11 with the creation of the Homeland Security. However, our party as a whole did not support their expenditures. Why do you think they lost seats in the last elections? I was one of those and so were my entire family. We didn't vote for them. We didn't support the party, and believe me, McCain would not have been our first choice. Palin is a conservative...and for that reason we will support McCain in this election. We certainly cannot vote a socialist into office.

--I know so why do cons feel the GOP deserves another chance to screw things up more when they've been in power for 8 years?
"To be fair, we are a country at war in a time when we were attacked on our own soil."
--To be fair, *we* aren't a country at war and if you're talking about Iraq. They didn't attack us "on our own soil.". We WERE a country at war during WWII. Now we're a tiny minority of Americans at war while everyone else lives their lives as usual.
"President Bush did the best that he could do under the circumstances, and he has kept this nation safe since 9/11 with the creation of the Homeland Security. "
--Whatever. Unprecedented war time tax cut for the least needy Americans isn't "the best that he could do under the circumstances," Homeland Security is a hot bloated mess and if you think the fact that "we haven't been attacked" is due to anything Bush has done, you need a remedial course in logic and reasoning.
"Palin is a conservative...and for that reason we will support McCain in this election. We certainly cannot vote a socialist into office."
--Translation: Party before what's best for the country. You'd have voted for McCain no matter who he chose just as you're voting for McCain when he doesn't represent any of your values.
Finally, cons need to understand that when you people dole out as much corporate welfare as you do and support cronyism to the extent you do, NO ONE CARES what you think is "socialist". We don't give a crap what you're worried about because you cherry pick the socialism you'll support or overlook vs that which you'll slam and harp on. ;-(-

We're aware that you don't care what we consider to be socialism. We're also aware that you don't see the work we put into EARNING whatever it is that we have and for some strange reason, you don't think you ought to have to EARN anything. We're supposed to dig deep into our pockets and feed and clothe you and your family, pay for your medical, buy your houses for you, and it will never be enough because you still complain. FACT: We WILL NOT support a socialist. This is not a communist nation, as much as you would like it to be. Most of us had fathers, husbands and sons who have died or gone to war for this nation to keep us from becoming a communist/socialist nation.

Thus far your party has disabled our financial institutions and you're working really hard to force a deal that nationalizes our entire financial system. Your party is not one bit upset at this turn of events because you it is where you have wanted this nation all along.
Your party has demonized anyone who has a regular income and owns a home as being rich...while they inflamed those of you who don't. Go back to school, earn your way, don't come picking my pockets and then complaining that it isn't enough. Do what I did and what others have done. Nobody came along and gave us anything. Learn a little bit about what the economy actually is. Big companies don't pay taxes, we the taxpayers pay taxes. When you want another freebie, it is us, the middle class who actually pay it. We're tired.
