"A survey being released Thursday by the Mercer consulting firm found 59 percent of companies intend to keep down rising health care costs in 2009 by raising workers' deductibles, copays or out-of-pocket spending limits."

It's time to admit that "managed care" is just another form of welfare--it employs lots of paper-pushers so they are not on the unemployment rolls. Forcing people in their time of need to pay for transportation to distant "cheaper" care, or fight to get necessary tests and treatment also is expensive to consumers both financially and psychically.

We could put managed care workers to better use in our national parks or other areas where the U.S. needs more people. We could probably save enough by getting rid of them to keep costs down. -

Meanwhile, private hospitals are using monopolistic business practices to rake in record profits. For example, Carilion Health System in Virginia had profits of more than $100 million last year.
Reply
They did so by assimilating nearly all of the small local practices then raising the prices charged for procedures by several fold.-

Didn't I hear the hospital where Michelle Obama sits on the board voted ,with Michelle saying, yes, to send the poor patients to another hospital?

There were increases in insurance premiums, copays and out-of-pocket limits in each of the ten years BEFORE the minimum wage was raised.

Wait till McCain gets elected. He will eliminate all tax breaks for employer assisted health care leading to all employers dropping the benefit all together. You will be left to "shop" for health care for you and your family just like auto insurance EXCEPT one special point. If you or anyone in your family has a pre-existing condition, good luck to you to find a coverage at a cost you can afford to pay!

The management gets bonuses for cutting workers and shucking more costs onto their employees.

Should they really be rewarded for failed management policy? -

It's time something is done about the cost of health care. Nothing else increasing by 6% every year!

I sure would like to know where the money is going. My Union pays a 50-50 share of our health & welfare with our employers. When it's contract time sometimes all of our money goes to H We recently switched to Blue Shield and it seems to be working out well.
