They (libs) claimed Palin was chosen only because she's a woman. In fact, Palin was chosen because she's pro-life, pro-gun, pro-drilling and pro-tax cuts. She's fought both Republicans and Democrats on public corruption and does not have hair plugs like some other vice presidential candidate I could mention. In other words, she's a "Republican."

Like I told you earlier, Brad...

Ms Palin is actually eclipsing Obama's opponent...putting him in the shadows...
I still think you ought to start a grass-roots movement (and I'll help you if you want...still almost 8 weeks left) whereby we start pushing for Palin as the head of the Republican ticket.
Call it "Switch to Sarah" or "Movin' From McCain", or whatever you want, but if Ms Palin is so much more qualified than either Obama or Biden, then she must be superior to even Obama's opponent, as well, right? The others are only Senators...no real budget to oversee, no body to really govern over, no National Guard to tell what to do...
And it does make sense, right? Then, let's move on this before we lose our chance...history is waiting for the first female Republican President...
OPh..and still putting down people for what they look like, huh, Brad...tsk...tsk... -

Darn tootin'
Just ask Big Oil.

FTA:
Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry — a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared.

I would like her if she had actually had a claim to fame beyond vetoing "The Bridge to Nowhere" and then keeping my money anyway.
She suffers earmarks like Flip-Flop Johnny suffers lobbyists.

As this goes to press, the latest media-invented scandal about Palin is that McCain didn't know her well before choosing her as his running mate. He knew her well enough, though admittedly, not as well as Obama knows William Ayers.

So meeting her twice before (think.."Hello, nice to meet you, but as an obscure Governor, I must be going" and....."Oh, hello, nice to see you again") constitutes a deep understanding and friendship that warrants a tap for the VP job?!?

FUgrad,

From Wikipedia:
Hypocrisy (or the state of being a hypocrite) is the act of preaching a certain belief or way of life, but not, in fact, holding these same virtues oneself.
Now think of all of the Repubs and a few of the Demos in the last year who have been preaching, and then going out and doing the opposite. The most recent that comes to mind had something to do with a bathroom at the airport in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Maybe he was just doing some scouting for the national convention.
Now, FUgrad, read this definition 30 times over 3 days to impregnate its meaning into your skull and then look into the mirror. You might experience the change that your candidate was talking about in his farewell speech.

• Make it easier for Americans to afford U.S.-built, fuel-efficient cars.
• Have the federal government "invest $150 billion over the next decade in affordable, renewable sources of energy -- wind power and solar power and the next generation of biofuels." Doing so, he said, would "lead to new industries and 5 million new jobs that pay well and can't ever be outsourced."

• "Finally meet our moral obligation to provide every child a world-class education."
• Find more money for early childhood education and recruit teachers with better pay while also pushing "higher standards and more accountability."

"They tried to create a "Troopergate" for Palin, indignantly demanding to know why she wanted to get her ex-brother-in-law removed as a state trooper. Again, public corruption is not a good issue for someone like Obama, Chicago pol and noted friend of Syrian National/convicted felon Antonin Rezko.
For the cherry on top, then we found out Palin's ex-brother-in-law had Tasered his own 10-year-old stepson. Defend that, Democrats. "-

Palin's ex-brother-in-law - Mike Wooten
Reply
Wooten is 35, a state trooper since March 2001 and an Air Force veteran. He's a father of young children who has been married and divorced four times
The accusations are detailed in two thick binders, the result of a nearly yearlong investigation by troopers.
The record clearly indicates a serious and concentrated pattern of unacceptable and at times, illegal activity occurring over a lengthy period, which establishes a course of conduct totally at odds with the ethics of our profession," Col. Julia Grimes, then head of Alaska State Troopers, wrote in March 1, 2006
Troopers eventually investigated 13 issues and found four in which Wooten violated policy or broke the law or both:
• Wooten used a Taser on his stepson.
• He illegally shot a moose.
• He drank beer in his patrol car on one occasion.
• He told others his father-in-law would "eat a f'ing lead bullet" if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce.
Beyond the investigation sparked by the family, trooper commanders saw cause to discipline or give written instructions to correct Wooten seven times since he joined the force, according to Grimes' letter to Wooten.
Those incidents included: a reprimand in January 2004 for negligent damage to a state vehicle; a January 2005 instruction after being accused of speeding, unsafe lane changes, following too closely and not using turn signals in his state vehicle; a June 2005 instruction regarding personal cell phone calls; an October 2005 suspension from work after getting a speeding ticket; and a November 2005 memo "to clarify duty hours, tardiness and personal business during duty time."

I agree with you 100%. McCain was my 4th or 5th choice out of the original group running for the Republican nomination. Although I was already planning to vote for him this November (unless he had selected Lieberman or Ridge, then I honestly don't know wht I would have done) it would have been a reluctant vote. Now, I will be proud to pull that lever or check that box.

I'd rather have Palin doing some OJT with her experience as a Governor than a community organizer turned senator with 3 years experience two of those spent running for President.

The liberals are so upset and fearful over her nomination they are going bonkers trying to smear her. A full Bork type attack. The kind they are known for. Never discuss the issues just attack the person. Well watch out libs. Barracuda Palin is willing to take you on and chew you up and spit you out. She even took on the chairman of the Republican Party in Alaska by filing charges against him and another man. Both were forced to resign and the former chairman paid a $12,000 fine. She takes on corruption where she finds it and reduces budgets thus lowering taxes. Things that liberals hate.

Feel free, discuss the issues of her executive experience. What does that experience show -- that she turned a balanced budget into a deficit, that she applied for earmarks and hired lobbyists, that she RAISED the sales tax on food.
Reply
Those are issues I'd like to see discussed. Other than that - policy specifics are not really that interesting. Most people don't know how best to implement an energy policy or a foreign policy, so talking about the specifics is meaningless, they still have to rely on "experts" to tell them what those specifics mean... and they instead rely on media pundits, who don't have any more education in the policy area than the people relying on them.
If you want to know about the Republican vs. Democratic energy policies, ask the Green Party, ask a PhD in power engineering. Don't ask Limbaugh or Coulter or Hannity, they don't know any more than you do (but they do have sponsors that want them to favour a certain side). Similarly, if you want to talk about who has the best foreign policy, ask a PhD in Global History, or an expert in foreign affairs: even better if your expert is not American, so he/she can evaluate the policies in terms of what works, rather than what Americans have been conditioned to accept.
I'm no expert, but I'm an outsider, and I can tell you that the foreign policy the US has been following over the last 8 years looks a lot more destabilizing than the foreign policy of nations you condemn. Can you imagine what your reaction would be if Russia had occupied and invaded Iraq? I don't have to, I saw your reaction to Georgia.

I don't like to judge stories by their source, so I read them without attention to the site they come from or who wrote them. Then I read this article, wondering: "What kind of rag is this from?" and I checked and Anne Coulter. Strangely enough, every time I read one of Anne Coulter's articles I find myself wondering "who wrote this crap?" and the answer is the same.
Reply
I should have stopped reading at "B. Hussein Obama". But I didn't even notice it until the second time through. What kind of journalist can't make her argument without using innuendo to immediately convey an unflattering impression of her antagonist. (For those of you who insist, "It's his middle name, it's perfectly acceptable to use it!" I kindly refer you to the dictionary and the definition of 'innuendo.'
A couple things:
- liberals and the media are not taking it out on the daughter. They're using this as an example that abstinence-only programs don't work. I think it's a fair example, and fair to use her, when Palin has no problems using her SON to boost her campaing.
- she's "pro-tax-cuts" and "anti-earmarks" in as much as she thinks others shouldn't raise taxes and dole out earmarks. As part of her 'experience' she has a track record of RAISING TAXES on essentials (including food) and LOWERING TAXES for influential donors (ex: decreasing property taxes, which helps wealthy landowners much more than renters or those in affordable/cheap housing). She also has a track-record established of lobbying for and accepting earmarks.
So yes, Sarah Palin has more "executive experience" than Obama. That experience shows that while an executive, she raised taxes, increased spending, and turned a balanced budget into a deficit. The best thing about experience is that it tells you what to expect.
As for Ann Coulter's contention that "she doesn't have any problems. Remember? Those were all blind alleys." The ones she mentioned were all side issues, they were values issues, they were the smears politicians use to distract you from facts. The PROBLEMS with Sara Palin are a history of EXECUTIVE MISMANAGEMENT, HYPOCRISY, and POOR LEADERSHIP. Anne Coulter did nothing to debunk these concerns.-

The interesting thing is that Palin's experience is basically typical of a politician. She hasn't done anything that puts her heads above or below any of the others. A lot of talking about things that will make people feel happy about voting for her and then following through with something else.
Reply
That said, at least she somewhat of an outsider as far a Washington goes. Will that mean I will vote for the republican ticket. Absolutely not. They are not conservative. Why bother having an election if all I am offered is more of the same. I'll be bringing a pencil come Nov.

They were after he made his first. And his second. And his speech in Germany. There's something to be said for "News". People talk about things that are new. Obama has been reasonably consistent, so the discussion about his speech has already occurred.
