Community Organizers Strike Back »
Posted By tdrapeau 10 months ago in News"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibility" -- Sarah Palin, speech given at the Republican National Convention, September 3rd
On Propeller.com there have been many reactions to this statement. Member k312121 writes: "I am a community organizer in a large city in San Antonio. To discredit me only made me laugh. I can do this job in my sleep and that is why I have a real job -- at a private university. Obama's use of this title is abusive and irrelevant."
A post "Community Organizers Demand Apology After Sarah Palin's Attack" from thinkprogress.org contains a number of quotes from community organizations unhappy with the nominee's statement. FTA: "The last thing we need is for Republican officials to mock us on television when we're trying to rebuild the neighborhoods they have destroyed. (Community Organizers of America)" In the Propeller discussion, member miklkit reminds us: "Please remember, Jesus was a Community Organizer and Pontius Pilate was a Governor".

The AP picked up the story and titled it "GOP criticism angers some community organizers". Says John Baumann, executive director of PICO National Network, "If people in office were doing their jobs, perhaps we wouldn't need community organizers".
The website "Stop. Think. Vote." has an article (located here on Propeller) that informs us that Candidate McCain, after Palin's remarks on 9/3, canceled a scheduled appearance at the Twin Cities Habitat For Humanity build site. Coincidence? You Tell Us!
The Nation has an article (located here), "Community Organizers Fight Back", which quotes Jacqueline del Valle, a community organizer in the Bronx, "If Mayor Giuliani and President Bush cared more about working people instead of just people who can hire high-powered lobbyists, maybe I wouldn't have so much responsibility. Maybe working people would have an easier time in America today. But that's not our reality, and they don't have to mock us while we're trying to clean up their mess."
Taking us away is "The Republican Hater's Ball", courtesy of YouTube. Kudos to The Nation for finding this and linking to it.

What Giuliani, Palin, and for that matter the entire GOP don't understand is that 'Change' starts from the bottom up...not the top down. Community organizing is how real change gets started and eventually comes about.

To 'Belittle' or to laugh at what is known as 'Community Organizing' is a little like laughing at those that came together and worked in the 50's and 60's to form the Civil Rights marches throughout this great Country. If I was the GOP, I would not go down this road.

Sarah Palin did not belitte ALL Community Organizers. My two oldest children were Community Organizers, and agree with Ms. Palin's quote. Why? Because Barack Obama took $14 million of taxpayers money, intended for the poor, and channelled it to Tony Rezko. And this was done AFTER Rezko's housing projects were condemned by the City of Chicago! If Community Organizers would examine this issue with their minds, do their homework, they would realize the importance of Ms. Palin's statement.

QUESTION?
Reply
Can anyone tell me what the Republicans are offering "mainstream" Americans? Americans who are not multi-millionaires or business owners? Americans who have not inherited family fortunes? Americans who know the importance of working as well as the reality of not having enough or having just enough after getting paid? Americans who live from day-to-day, paycheck-to-paycheck? Is it more of the same: no tax breaks, high gas prices, a failing economy, jobs being shipped overseas, wages being undercut by illegal immigrant workers, no health insurance, the possibility of no social security in the future, no immigration reform, no Pro-choice but more war, more national debt, the desire to reign "Supreme" over all nations, more of the same!
The Republicans are really out of touch with the very ones that the Constitution and Government was created to serve: The People-All citizens of the United States. They belittle Obama's noble and essential work as a community organizer without realizing the sacrifice and leadership that it takes to bring people together on one accord so that they will have a "UNITED VOICE" in the political arena. The nation's ability to stand is based largely on its foundation: The People. Community based organizations are the very foundation of the Government. Instead of working from the top down, which Republicans always do, it makes more sense to work from the bottom up so that the People's voices are heard, which is what Obama does. But Republicans don't want to hear from or serve "The People". They are "self-serving" and that is why they refuse to acknowledge the value of "Community". If this (negative campaigning and disregard for noble and essential works) is the only tactic that the Republicans have to win this election then "AMERICA" is in trouble!-

If anyone believes that McCain and his running mate are going to make things better, then you must already have more money than you can spend. McCain stated a few days ago that middle class was those that are earning $5,000,000.00, so how many of American's do we have that are middle class and earning that much money? They are out of touch with what is going on with the American people. I have seen quiet a few Presidents and I have never seen one Republican that cared about the people, only the rich. Also has anyone seen the movie on McCains life story and when he was a POW, it left a lot of questions, and some of them are really scary. Also from what I have seen, he has a very difficult time remembering things, but when we get that old, we forget a lot. The highest office in the land is not a place for someone that is that forgetful. Though I question some things he did in the past, I do respect the fact that he served in the Military during a war, but not enough to vote for him to be President. We need a President that will move this country forward and create jobs, do something about health care, gas prices, and the war that Bush started.

AngelInArmor - Barack Obama's community service was not honorable and was clearly self-serving. He gave money - taxpayers' money, intended for the poor- to convicted slumlord Tony Rezko. That was at least $14 million, documented, and could be much more. Rezko, in turn, helped the Obamas acquire a $1.7 million mansion. How did they qualify for the mortgage on a community organizer's salary? My two oldest children were community organizers, for an extended period of time, and made little more than minimum wage. They performed their service to the community for the satisfaction this service provides, not to acquire a multi-million dollar mansion. Please do your homework on this issue.

Thanks Angelin...The sad part of this whole thing is, a lot of the smiling faces we saw this week at the convention are some of the exact "mainstream" Americans... that are willing to be apart of an election that would put another multi-millionaire in the office of President. A gentleman that has not a clue as to how it feels to sit down and make a monthly budget that runs out of money before the month runs out. Someone that does not have to be concerned about the life issues that concern '"mainstream" Americans...

AngelInArmor, you should be AngelwithHeadinSand. Your comment, "Is it more of the same: no tax breaks, high gas prices, a failing economy, jobs being shipped overseas, wages being undercut by illegal immigrant workers, no health insurance, the possibility of no social security in the future..." shows you haven't been tuned into what is actually being said, but only to the "Obama charisma". This is exactly why young, unsophisticated voters are blind followers of him. Don't you know that Obama and all democrats will RAISE your taxes? Its a common misperception among democratic voters that tax breaks only benefit the rich & big businesses but that is WRONG. Corporations don't even "pay" taxes. They just offset them by raising their prices which affects us, the consumer. And as for jobs being shipped overseas, this is because domestic corporations don't get the same tax breaks that OUR GOVERNMENT gives to foreign corporations, and therefore cannot compete here. This is why Republicans support the Fair Tax Plan. Giving tax breaks to big companies will bring them & their jobs back to the US and result in significantly lower prices for consumers. The Fair Tax will also drastically reduce the amount of tax evasion - which is committed more often by the wealthy (and illegal immigrants). This overhaul would result in such a huge increase in tax revenue, it would make up for the tax cuts all current taxpayers would receive, AND would fund the failing Social Security & Medicare programs. It is a WIN - WIN proposition!!! But Democrats want naive voters to believe that GOP wants to hurt us with more taxes, when they (Democrats) are the ones trying to do that.

We need someone with true experience, not someone who was elected for just two years as Senator. What a laugh. No one can truly say they have experience after just two years. He can't count the two he has been running for President because he hasn't been there. So who is self-serving? John McCain has proven over 20 years that he can be there and do it. Community based organizations are great and do a lot of good things but they do not give Obama the experience he truly needs to be President. Sorry about that but it is true. -

--If those on the right are honest (LMAO...I know, right?), they'll admit that their sole reason for backing McCain is that he calls himself a Republican and they'll say or do anything to keep a Republican in power and hold onto their tax cuts. Otherwise their decision making is totally illogical and irrational. They rejected McCain for Bush after Bush and his supporters painted McCain as a liberal, claimed he was unstable and unfit because of his years as a POW, and launched a smear campaign claiming he had an "illegitimate black lovechild." Up until McCain got nominated, he and Bush were virtual enemies and cons still claimed he was a RINO (his campaign flatlined a year ago after he backed "amnesty").
So basically cons passed over McCain because they believed Bush's lies (a fact which they would now have us all believe is totally irrelevant and forgettable) and that even though McCain voted in alignment with Bush 95% of the time, he's a "maverick" who represents change, and they trust him (even though they were screeching exactly the opposite about him up until he secured then nomination). Cons? Who do you think actually believes your lies and why do you still insist that you're of sound mind and judgement after what you've dragged our country through in the last 8 years? Seriously, cons...Is it crystal meth? What? ;-(

Wake up people. Palin was not disparaging Community Organizers.
Reply
She made a COMPARATIVE statement that no INTELLIGENT person would disagree with.
She implied that the CO position does not have the level of accountability and expectations as does a municipal executive.
How many COs are elected?
How many COs face media scrutiny?
How many COs have had to face down angry crowds or angry constituents?
How many COs have had to lay off people or deal with disgruntled employees?
There may have been a few, but, no where near what municipal executives have to deal with.
No one is saying that the CO is worthless or unneeded. But, the typical CO does not face the same level of responsibility and scrutiny of a mayor!-

AngelInArmor10 months ago
Regardless, it was an offensive statement and in ill-taste. If the McCain/Palin ticket wins then America is really in trouble! This ticket is not in touch with America (The People). They continue to march to their own drummer . . . the Rich, The Few, The Proud, The Republicans. What about "mainstream" Americans? They probably belittle them as well. I didn't hear a thing about what they intend to do for the "mainstream". That's all Americans really care about. National security comes second to surviving from day to day. Most Americans don't have enough to "conserve" and that's why they should all vote as Democratic or Independent. If the Republicans win this election they will have to steal it. America is tired of the same ole' same ole'.

No, Palin's remark, whether intentionally or not, WAS DISPARAGING. She all but said that community organizers have no responsibilities.
Reply
Are they elected? -- Who cares? Being elected only shows you can win a popularity contest. (And jobs that require elections usually also offer perks)
Do they face media scrutiny? -- Well, the CO in question here has faced just as much media scrutiny as the Governor, what was your point here?
Do they have to face down angry crowds or constituents? -- Has Sara Palin had to? I think that community organizers face down many more angry "constituents" (read community members) than governors. Governors tend to be sheltered, whereas COs deal directly with the people.
Do they have to lay off people or deal with disgruntled employees? -- Yes. Even with a low-respect job like a CO, you still have to sometimes make those hard decisions and deal with people who make it hard to work. It's probably even harder, because those people don't get paychecks. How do you fire a volunteer? Sometimes it has to be done. Disgruntled employees? You bet. And disgruntled people. On a daily basis. You've never worked in customer service, have you?
A mayor has scrutiny. And a mayor has responsibility on paper. They also have official power to get things done. Sara Palin delegated most of her responsibilities. She's facing scrutiny now (and not coming out squeaky-clean, either).
A community organizer has no power except hard work. They tend to fight against beaurocracy that prevent people from achieving their potential, and they tend to work long hours for little or no respect.
Sara Palin, in her speech, has just officially endorsed (on behalf of the Republican Party) that lack of respect for the hard work done by community organizers. I read that part of her speech and I was appalled. This careless talk, that belittles and ostracizes, has also marked the McCain campaign. The campaign likely will and should suffer a setback because the Republicans just put the lie to their words. They don't care about the contributions of the little guy. They don't care about the struggles of the people, and the struggles of community organizers to try to make things better. They care about the power of bureaucrats and money-makers. -

I agree. The Obama campaign makes it seem that he turned around an entire city area in Chicago. Have things changed there? NO, they haven't--I drive through that area frequently. Did jobs come back, did crime disappear, did people's economic conditions improve? The answer to all three of these things in NO. Face it, he wasn't successful. But he couldk away from his experience as one in a long line of COs who face overwhelming odds in trying to overcome the problems of struggling neighborhoods/communities, without any of teh intense scrutiny that a mayor or governor face. If he couldn't make it happen there, what makes anyone think he can make it happen for our entire nation?

I can tell you what they are offering main stream America. I am also middle class. Do you want to pay higher taxes, small business to pay higher taxes, death benefits taxed? Do you realize with the tax hike Obama is suggesting that small business will no longer exist and more of our companies will have to move out of the states. Do you want a health system that you have to wait 3 months for an appointment and 6 months for a treatment. The doctors and the equipment will be the sorriest on the market. That is what the Democrats are offering you. Unless you are making $20,000 and less you are the one who is going to be paying these taxes to take care of those who don't work and if they do work they are only bringing in the $20,000 per year. Why don't people educate themselves on what is happening instead of just listening to someone telling them a fairy story. Life isn't free and if that is what you want then vote Obama. I am not a Republican nor a Democrate but I do vote for the person that will do the most for my country.

I understood Obama to say that he would give a tax "break" to those making less than $250,000.00. That he would stop giving incentives to companies who ship jobs overseas and that the big Oil companies would pay more taxes. I do make over $20,000.00/yr but under the $250,000.00 that he is proposing to tax. I currently have good insurance but still have to wait weeks/months for an appointment and still only get the minimum attention from my physician that I feel that I've paid for. As for treatment, the doctors have partnered with the pharmaceutical compaines to prescribe drug after drug to feed their pockets. My husband owns a small business and when cash flow is depleted this government has no resource for him. Only Fortune 500 companies get bailed out. So I agree with Obama's approach (and the Bible's): to those who much has been given, much WILL be REQUIRED. Why should the wealthly be able to get the breaks when they have enough to get the nation out of debt? Clinton's administration didn't leave us in debt. How did the "Conservatives" put us back into a Trillion dollar plus debt? You need to do your homework and vote for Obama.

I tell you this you may not like what Obama stands for and I'm not making excuses for those that take advantadge of the system but there are people out there who need the help and just hope that one day you don't have to experience government help. I see a man who is willing to try and make a change, not continue another 4 years of economic failure, sending our troops over to another country and leaving us vunerable here at home. Oh really? Think again. Republicans didn't destroy your inner cities... DEMOCRATS did! If you live in a major metropolitan city, think about who the mayor of that city is and what his/her party affiliation is. I can almost guarantee you it's Democrat, not GOP. The only exceptions I can think of are Guiliani and Bloomberg in NYC. In fact, I bet in most cases (other than NYC) you couldn't name the last GOP mayor of your big city. The fact is Democrats have run most big cities (and run them into the ground) for decades. Add to that the fact that a majority of states have Democrat governors, and you can see that most of your anger at the GOP for the plight of the inner city is misguided. -

Perhaps you should wake up "gator". A thinking person completely understands that the best the GOP could do against a "Community Organiizer" is trivialize how much he has accomplished through a woman, beset with one drama after the other, who took six years and five colleges to finally graduate and felt it necessary to lie by omission (deception) to the American public over a "non-issue." and who put a little town in Alaska into millions of dollars debt, who was simply read what someone else wrote. But how about the audacity of that Obama? He actually woke up America with the notion of having a government for the people by the people. I hope all the community organizers out there know what to do now, with all that power they are perceived not to have.

One of the biggest problems with politics & politicians is their constant pandering to their constituencies, making pledges and promises that they can not, or will not, keep.

The presidency is not responsible for the current sorry state of our poltical system, hence, Obama, if elected, will not be in any position to do anything about it.

OH Please, like being the Mayor/Govenor in Alaska for 18 months makes you qualified to be the VP or President of this nation. More than half of your party knew nothing about Palin, just that she was pretty and confident. Now you're trying to sell her as such an experienced politician. If she is so experienced, why was she in hiding the whole time before her speech? She should know how to deal with the media already. She can throw a good punch, but she can't take one, oh we'll never know, cause McCain won't let her talk. Oh she's tough alright.
Reply
You Repubs crack me up, everything that you criticized Obama for; you then turned around and tried it. Cause ur dry old grandpa had lost his own party's support. So first- you go get a nice looking, strong & clever person, with star appeal that can deliver a good speech (Palin). The same exact thing you ridiculed Obama for, you go and get and act like no one would notice. 2nd you go and steal the message of "change" because the stragegist McCain hired (which they just showed the other night on tv) did research with a live mixed group of voters, which showed that Obama gets more voters because of his message on change & that's what Americans wants. How ironic now, all the sudden McCain wants to "change" what he's been a part of for the last 20 +yrs. He was never an advocate for change, until 8 weeks b4 election day. 3rd-Now all of the sudden we're hearing from McCain, what we've been hearing everybody say about Obama, his ability to unite the country and cross party lines, now McCain wants to do that to.
TV coverage shows we were first on all of that. Find your own methods and stick to it, stop copying everything Obama does, and then criticizing him for it.
YOU MAY HATE US DEMS, BUT YOU GOTTA GIVE IT TO US. OUR WAY WAS WORKING AND YOU HATED IT, SO YOU SURE HAD TO GO OUT AND GET (STAR POWER) WHAT WE ALREADY HAD. YOU HAD TO CHANGE YOUR MESSAGE TO WHAT WE ALREADY OWNED (CHANGE), AND NOW YOU ARE JUST REALIZING WHAT WE ALREADY KNEW (UNITED WE STAND- GOTTA WORK TOGETHER IN ORDER TO GET THE JOB DONE RIGHT!)
obama had the better, smarter, newer message/ideas first, so I'll stick with the originator, not the imitator.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is terribly naive, as are 98% of the people who have grasped onto Palin like she was the second coming of Christ [despite her having only been selected as McCain's running mate just 5 days ago, after relative obscurity anywhere outside of her home state].

Palin didn't write her acceptance speech. Bush's speech writers did, and their comments, jabs, and blatant attacks were deliberate and premeditated. I can't wait to see how well Palin thinks on her feet without prepared comments. The media (especially after she blasted them, too) are going to have a field day with her, as will Joe Biden when they debate on Oct. 2.
How absolutely desperate is the GOP for leadership that they felt compelled to select Palin as VP to McCain? The likes of Huckabee, Romney, Ridge, etc. must be seriously re-evaluating their future with the GOP when a councilwoman of a town of 6,500 and governor for 20 months can trump their years of experience. Palin's comments about Community Organizers, the media, and Washington must have made them all wince in pain - as will McCain himself, once he sees this GOP party hack in action on the campaign trail. Pail's "15 minutes" will come to an abrupt halt on Election Day. Then she can go back to shooting moose, getting more of her ex-brother-in-laws fired, raising out of wedlock grandbabies, and lobbying D.C. for more porkbarrel funding for her state. Good grief - this is the best American can do??-

Maybe she didn't know exactly what she was saying. After all, she didn't write the speech, right?

If you are so excited to see how Palin "on her feet without prepared comments", then you must have missed her speech the other night. Did you realize that while she was giving her speech, the teleprompter broke? I didn't see her miss a beat. I'm sure she already knew her basic talking points and had rehearsed much of it, but we all know how Barak does in the same situation (um, uh...well, uh).
Also, way to go on disparaging her and her family. You must be a real tough guy. -

what a fitting name mountain moron - for it is your attitude that is shared by so many that have put this country in danger. Mcain and Palin are sincere in their efforts. they stand for what america is and are not afraid to LOVE their country and SALUTE thier flag. Obama has no respect for the flag - you think he will have respect for your rights once he is in office.

No person can stand up and make promises how they will change the world - and anyone who does is lying. take a hard look at gov corzone (democrat who obama is looking to for guidance) who made many promises to New Jersey on how he was going to reform the state and bring us out of financial trouble - he had experience running big business - but what did he do , he turned his back on everyone and increased our taxes and BROKE his PROMISES- so when OBAMA makes all those lovely promises on how he will solve the worlds issues - you can bet he just blowing smoke up your buts to get your votes (DID you really believe Hillary's speech too after she berated OBAMA then backed him up so lovingly when she had no choice??? the democrats are a bunch of liars. Mcain and Palin have said they intend to change the status quo - not with specifics because if they did they would be lying- no one can predict how they will make reform, but they can predict that they are on our side and they will take advantage of every opportunity to make the changes needed. Thier track record of doing that makes me beleive that the mean what they say. When you have a congress that opposes you every twist and turn - you may not be able to pass every bill you need to win the battle - but you can make a difference by finding alternative ways to make it happen - and i beleive Mcain and Palin are fighters who will make sure they find a way to make major imprvoements in a congress and goverment that is broken. Obama on the other hand does not instill that confidence in me. forget whether he is white or black and dont play the racist card - just look at who is a devoted american, who loves their country, who respects their country (and their flag) and tell me who you would rather have in the white house. -

Are these Community Organizers low IQ or what? Anyone with a half a brain understands that she meant "responsibilities to the public " as in "public servant". Community organizers are only responsible to the candidate, and while important to the candidate have no accountability to the public.

Wow Annee, you obviously have no idea. Community organizers aren't political employees. They could be volunteers building homes, rec centers or churches. They can be lawyers fighting for community justice, or MBA's creating community business plans. My wife is a CO with a PHD in human behavior, a professional mediator and teaches doctorate level mediation courses. She is infinitely more qualified and more intelligent than Sarah Palin. McCain's selection is transparently political, designed to get votes and is a slap in the face of every intelligent woman who raised children, worked full time and pursued higher education all at the same time.

You left crack me up. Calling the right haters when it's you that cause's the riots in the street. It's you that shout out my free speech, and it's you that can't except reality until you grow up some. The community organizer deal was simple. What does it take to become an community organizer? What voting makes one elected? Who is voting for this community organizer? As far as I know..........someone just's get's handed this job. Who does a Community Organizer answer too if things go wrong? .....maybe another Community Organizer I guess. I like this saying.....you need to start from the bottom up........HahAHHAhAHHAha. Don't you know that S*#@t flows down hill? or maybe your liberial education has skipped that lesson for you all.

Great comment. Are you implying that the people at the bottom should be happy to be shat upon by the people at the top? Or is this a statement about what actually trickles down in trickle-down economics? Either way, you are definitely not compassionate and show a pathetic ignorance of the hard work and effort that community organizers do.
"Who does a Community Organizer answer to if things go wrong?"
What a stupid question, COs are needed because things are already wrong. And if they "misbehave" (aka abuse their position) they answer to the police. That's right, they go to jail. A better question is, what recognition does a Community Organizer get when things go right? Little to none. A mayor or governor puts out forests of propaganda praising themselves for their own good deeds though.

for the worst, overthrow, and revolution. It's being reported that Obama taught
racism and radical change. Is this the change he promises. I have seen many
community organizers that preach nothing but hate. So you that are complaining
are you arguing that all of you organize for good, or have most of you been caught
doing anti-american planning or do you do it for the good of all not just dissidents??
Obama's real agenda seems to be coming to light after all the adoration is wearing
off. I for one speak my mind and to all you that organize for the common good I say
well done, but there are way too many Anarchists parading around the streets of this
nation with only one purpose, to disrupt and do damage and cause trouble. Dissent
is fine if done in a civil way and orderly fashion, but 99% of time that is not the case.
The latest case; during the democratic convention no one carried sign into the venue and tried to interrupt their speakers, but the so-called organizers of the left didn't show the same respect at the republican convention. When you do things like the above how can you expect the populace to sympathize with you. I am an independent voter and I can see the hypocracy on both sides, but I have read and looked into Mr. Obama's history and frankly I don't trust him, nor do I completely trust McCain, but I believe in the old adage of, 'The lesser of two
evils, therefore I will vote for McCain mainly because he has a more viable VP.-

Come on guys (gals), who gives a rats patootie??? It wasn't meant to hurt anyone's feelings... It was a remark to show how STUPID the OTHER campaign is in trying to reduce the experience Palin has in government... I think she is as well qualified as many have been in the past....better the vice-president (if you were gonna have to choose inexperience--and we don't) than the PRESIDENT!!! This election is all about CHANGE anyway, right??? Well, I'm ready for a change too...but not for the kind of change the OTHER guy is talking about...

Community Organizers are those who see a need and address it by bringing those with similar and sometimes very diverse concerns together to reason and create solutions/s and action plans to obtain a common goal. Organizers are people-persons who want to help and not hurt those with issues and concerns. They create a "united" front and a strong "voice" for those with conerns and seeking help. They are leaaders. I'm sure there's much more to the position but these are the foundations.

If Palin owes "community organizers" an apology, then, Obama owes small-town mayors an apology. If she disparaged COs, then, Obama disparaged STMs!

Keep the original banter in perspective. Obama belittled Palin's experience as a "small-town mayor". She only retorted that her experience tops his. Slam dunk.
Those of you criticizing Palin need to get a life. You are disparaging her therefore, using YOUR logic, you owe her an apology.
I do not expect she will an apology from you, because most of you lack the character and moral integrity to admit you are wrong!-

Palin was a failure as mayor of Wasilla. The town was debt free when she got elected. When she left it was $22 million in debt. And it still doesn't have a sewage treatment plant. The high school has also gone downhill with teachers being let go and courses being dropped. And this while the town is growing! She is also a radical fundie who is against sex education and birth control. But, she is for banning books!

as a small town mayor, Palin raised taxes, increased spending and created huge deficit (huge in small town terms).

You have to understand how Cook County, IL politics works. I'm from IL and let me tell you, a community organizer in chicago is not like anything else anywhere. It really should be called "community agitator" or "the moneyman vote getter". They still pay for votes in cash, booze, and dope. This is the truth, ask anyone from there. I've seen it and I have traveled with the man that pays.

What the hell is a community organizer?? I came from a small town in Connecticut and I've never heard the term. They obviously exist in larger cities, and are politically driven by one party or the other. They are also NOT familiar with the executive decisions required to be a mayor or governor, and probably couldn't be elected to either office. Obama's "experience" is almost non-existent; and his local politics and Senatorial career are a farce. How he can brag about his district in Chicago is really ridiculous, when you see the burned out buildings, and homeless people, along with the drug dealers and hookers there. His Senate term is also sad, with his running all over the country during the primaries instead of doing the job he was elected to do. Sarah Palin did nothing more than point out Obama's lack of executive experience; while he looked down his nose at ALL small town and rural Americans. The Democrats better get used to hearing the truth about their annointed savior, and the media better get used to having their biases against women and Republican candidates pointed out.

I have never seen a more blatant media attack upon a candidate, as they performed on Hillary Clinton, and I hope they don't think they will pull the same tactics on Sarah Palin. I really don't see what the media hopes to gain by their undying promotion of Obama, unless it's more stories of racial riots and the total breakdown of our country's image in world politics.-

Do those offended or outraged truly not understand the point being made that serving as community organizer, regardless of the value of the work done, does not prepare you for being President of the United States? Let’s also not lose sight of the fact that this was in direct response to the Obama campaign belittling Palin’s experience in serving as mayor of a small town. Should all mayors of small towns be offended as well??? Reality . . . what a concept!!
