Hmmm,
Using your logic, the Chief Priests and elders were the community organizers. They rallied the masses around a "common cause" and falsely accused Jesus, leading to his crucifixion!

  Nope. They were the war mongering republicons. After Jesus was gone they rebelled against the Romans and were wiped out. The Romans broke their country up and renamed it Palestine.
