It’s a good thing that she learned to read before she decided it was time to start banning certain books. I wasn’t impressed with her delivery at all. Too smarmy, mean spirited and manic for my tastes.

She reminded me of a smart Alec kid, talking tough and knowing that she won’t have to face the consequences, because big brother is standing right behind her. Biden will rip her a new one in the debates. -

First of all, don't get me wrong. I am not comparing Sarah Palin to Stalin. That said, I remember that Stalin had his henchmen and state controlled press circulate admirable stories about him among the populace. Most or all of the stories were untrue. One example concerned a collective farm who was trying to fix his tractor. A stranger saw him struggling and came over to take a look. After a few minutes he discovered the problem, fixed it and walked away, his hands dirty from the work. Another farmer came up to the man and asked, "Do you know who that was?" Then it is revealed that it was comrade Stalin.

Of course this story, like so many others that circulated about Stalin in Russia, was untrue. It illustrates a technique. I have a feeling we will continue to see the application of this technique by the religious right in defense of Ms. Palin. -

Prompter error on not, I'm sure that the prompter was totally unnecessary. Given the importance of the speech and the huge amount of preparation that Palin did, only an idiot would have risked not knowing it stone cold. For all of Palin's supposed faults, she is NOT an idiot!

Lets get on with the true issues of the campaign; the issues that, after seven-plus years of Republican control, are making life difficult for all but the wealthiest of Americans. -

I can't wait for her to be in a debate and have to answer a question on demand.....don't think she will be so smart and sassy.

How come all other candidates have been on TV interviews with news people and she hasn't done One???? Voting for some one who you have never heard talking straight from their mind is poor judgment. -

BlueTexas, are you blue because you read that book "Bushwacked", by Ivins that explains how Dumya's failed programs screwed up Texas... and we should have learned from his Texas failures before letting him do the same with greater impact to the country and the world?

Has Delay been convicted yet and the rezoning he illegally championed been corrected? Guess you still have too many corrupt repugs in your state congress to correct everything! Is that repug state representative still there that said free education at any level is communism? Delay's buddy, Abramoff, just 4 more years of jail time - thank God, some justice! -

So this is the big scam the left has been searching for? A right wing commentator claims the prompter was broken and it's part of the vast right wing Palin wing of the party. First what right wing team. The GOP has been limping along for the last 6 months. They gave McCain the nod. McCain? Now when the GOP put forward a WOMAN, the left went all ape poopy. I've heard from a Democrat how women should stay at home and raise children. From the NOW type Dems. What's up with that?

I think the DNC is scared because the GOP has put up a pair of mavericks and they don't know how to fight this one. A guy who has cross the isle so many times there was a push form the GOP to remove him from the party. His running mate a hockey mom who started out as a cookie mom at the PTA who got mad and ran for office. And you guys put up a good reader who has yet to really do anything but claims he will unite both parties as the "messiah" and a guy who is an old DC hack. So much for their change. The DNC is worried. This was their election to lose and I think they've done a fine job of that. "Iraq is a lost cause,.", and "I am the change we've been waiting for." will go down in history just like "No new taxes," did for Bush 41. The GOP is back and they're motivated.-

Explain to me how McCain has been a maverick these last three years. He has voted with GWB and the republican mainstream close to 100%. He has reversed himself on virtually all of the positions that previously defined him as a maverick.

Sarah represents the radical religious right. Your comment, about the left are saying she should stay at home and raise children, doesn't represent most of us. That is not the reason I and most of my compatriots oppose her. The reason I opposed her nomination and fear that she may become president (if, God forbid, McCain were elected and then died in office) is that she would continue a radical right agenda of imposing her religious beliefs on the rest of the nation, putting forth a foreign policy of strong but wrong and promulgating an economic agenda that would harm the middle class and the working poor. That's plenty of reason enough for me.-
