Much as a loath the republicans, and as much as I think McCain’s choice of Palin as his running mate is a transparent, shallow act by a desperate man, I don’t much care about Palin’s personal life, except as it relates to her ability to do the job.

After all the outcry of AG submitting stroies from the right, at least there were some threads from the other side on here. Now all we get are these types of threads on the front page. The one I love the most is the one where the left claims Palin was too mean durig her speech, after the constant attacks against her. -

Haven't we been told over and over that being familiar with the candidates associates and private lives are necessities as it gives us insight as to their character??

Why is so many of McCains military records sealed, and now why is Palin's husband's ex business partner's divorce records being sealed? If there's nothing to hide, why hide it?
Conservatives put this on the table when they posted that hideous video of some deviant who said he had sex with Obama while they did coke. Then took soundbites out of context of Obama's minister for smear purposes only, and attacked Michelle when she supposedly said "whitey", which wasn't really proven to be true because it could have been why'd he....
When you get bit by a mosquito do you watch to see if it will bite you again or do you swat it? I swat it, i think everyone does, but now i will probably be accused of being violent. -

Well, we have already seen that Palin abuses political power to carry out personal vendettas. We have also already seen her corruption.
Reply
What is even worse than the media keeping quiet about her personal life is that they are keeping quiet about her ugly, dangerous religious connections.
Voting for Palin would be like voting for Osama Bin Laden. She is right out of our very own "christian madrassas".
Sarah Palin used AK tax dollars to fund dominionist churches
Over the past few days, I've done reporting on Sarah Palin's extensive dominionist connections--including the attempt to run her as a "stealth" dominionist candidate and her connections to some scary dominionist groups including not just "Joel's Army" folks but a far-right Christian Reconstructionist political party linked to domestic terrorism.

chuck-the-canuck........very well said. I don't know when we became so tabloid driven in this society, more interested in the sex lives of candidates rather than the platforms they promote, but I couldn't care less. I never understood people's obsession over Bill Clinton's sex life, and I have the same feeling about the opposition. Who Palin is having an affair with, or even if she's having an affair, is of no consequence in my opinion. The only things that matter to me are her positions on issues and her qualifications to carry out any plans she may have. Beyond that, its none of my business and nothing but a distraction in a campaign that is too important to entertain distractions in. We have real issues to face and get through before someone is elected, and spending any energy on anything this ridiculous is just a waste in my opinion.

The Republicans cared when Clinton got caught... The Reagans cared when McCain was caught (they adopted his abandoned wife and distanced themselves from him.) It goes right to the heart of whether someone is trustworthy or not. McCain is an adulterer and a liar... you have to care because it demonstrates so much about a person.

I agree that there is really no point in casting accusations, especially in view of the seeming frequency of occurrence in the political world. It would be better if everyone just accepted that they are mostly likely all having or had affairs, push that off the table and get down to business.

It demonstrates that the government has no real place in trying to legislate morality. That choice should be left to the citizen to work out.-

Don't forget the media drug John Edwards through the mud. What is the difference between Edwards and Palin? If Edward's political career is over, why shouldn't Palin's also be over. is If it true, then she should step aside. Hey, cheaters cheat.

This is one of the things that Palin was talking about when she accused the Obama/Biden Democrats of trashing her and her family with lies etc. There was a story on here yesterday where people there tried to make it that since it did not come from Obama or Biden she was wrong. Those silly libs couldn't read apparently.

Well Palin has already put this country in an economic depression, by telling the world that is okay for teenagers to have unprotected sex. According to People's Magazine even she, was pregnant before she was married. The facts say that she eloped in August and her oldest son was born in April. Go figure why she can be so deceptive with controlling the rights of other women and animals, when she can't even control the one woman in her own house. Who say that this story was not going to be news when teenage pregancy has hit it lowest record. Now she has stirred another group of people into thinking that her daughter is a role model.
Reply
For anyone who thinks that teenage pregancy is a good thing, they should sign up to pay $15,000 a month in taxes to pay for teenage pregnacies who has to be subsidize to pay for the welfare of their children. Doctor visits aren't cheap, nor is the care to take care of one.

With the economy sinking, and both foreign and domestic policy floating with no direction, who cares if she had an affair or not? There are more important issues.

Why bother to make this stuff up or to step to the level of alpha and bring it up here?-

Ah yes, AG. Where is she now?
Now, don’t criticize me for being a romantic, but I kind of like to think that somewhere here on Propeller, she lives on. Every time I see a republican spew another bit of hate, every time I see that someone has popped in to neg a reasonable comment made by someone slightly left of centre, I like to think that it just might be "Her Assholiness", "The Queen of The Sphincters", AG herself, reincarnated as a flatulent computer pixie, returning to share the piquant aroma of her ordure. -

The thing is that extra-marital affairs ARE important when the people who have them take a particular moral stance. And alhough slightly different (as he was in office at the time), an extra-martial dalliance was enough to impeach a President not that long ago. So to say a person's sex life dopesn't matter, is a little naive.

However, this story seems like made up muck raking. Gossip manifesting itself as journalism. If it weren't and there was testimony or evidence, the other papers would be running with it too.-

I agree. The fact that Palin came out with the whole "family thing" as a main part of her personal qualifications means she needs to answer about the affair.
Reply
If she's lying about the "sqeaky clean family life" as part of her persona then she needs to belly up to the bar about the affair.

Depends. Was the Enquirer right about Edwards?
Reply
No one accepts their writing or dismisses their writing absent evidence one way or the other. If the Enquirer gets it right, that does not mean that children of aliens are running around. And just because we all snicker at the idea of alien children running around, doesn't mean they don't get it right once in a while. -

It was so much more fun to discuss Clinton's bjob.
Reply
The economy was going strong, jobs were plenty, salaries were high, gas prices were very low, healthcare was very affordable, there were no home foreclosures.
We needed entertainment, and the Republicans provided it when they went after Clinton and had to watch on the sidelines when Clinton got re elected for a second term. -

Does anyone know why Obama crashed down all over Hillary when she was running, saying that because she voted for the war, that meant she had bad judgement. Now, he chooses a VP candidate , Joe Biden, to run with him, who also voted for the war but Obama has no problem with it .What is the explanation for that? -

This story was debunked days ago how stupid are you people?

One Palin Mystery Solved
Privacy, not intrigue, behind pol pal's bid to seal divorce records
an Enquirer source claimed, he "quickly dissolved his friendship and his business associations with the guy." So when the blogosphere discovered today (via an online court docket) that Scott Richter, a Palin associate, personally filed a sealing motion in Alaska Superior Court, well, conclusions were jumped to. Was Sarah Palin named as the other woman in a messy divorce action? Well, since Richter's September 3 motion, a copy of which you'll find below, was denied yesterday, his divorce filings remain open to the public. And a TSG review of the 98-page file shows that the Palins are only mentioned in Richter's sealing request.
(Did ya get that Obama? his divorce filings remain open to the public)
(Did ya get that Obama? the Palins are only mentioned)
According to the filing, Richter wanted the documents deemed confidential in a bid to cloak details about his home, workplace, and phone numbers because "reporters and news agencies" were using that information to contact him.
Richter, a 39-year-old contractor, noted that he is "friends and land owners in a remote cabin" with the Palins and,
(Did ya get that Obama? Translation for you Obama, the have a time share the Palins)
as a result, journalists were intruding on the "cabin life and private life" of him and his 11-year-old son. The petition to dissolve the marriage was filed jointly last July by Richter and his ex-wife, who were not represented by lawyers. A judge granted the dissolution less than two months after the couple filed to end their marriage.-

As much as it saddens me, we will never know what all of the candidates have done prior to their bid for office. We can only hope that serving the people to a higher standard than they served their families will be the case. But considering the viscious level of mud slinging by the Repubs in the 2004 election, I say let all of it fly. I've been stuffed full of their damn high, but fake, moral authority my entire life. Too bad it was nothing but crap spread over all of us. They need to rethink their ability to live up to their own double standard. I'm not buying it any more and I certainly hope no one else is. It does matter if their character is of such low moral standard. McCain is an expert at crapping on his wives and his children. I use to respect him as a moderate. Now I have no respect for him at all. I certainly don't trust him or the choices he made for VP. I hope every underhanded dirty thing she has pulled hits the front page. Hello Swiftboat. Hope you like the ride.
