Comments for Palin's Church Promotes Converting Gays »
Posted By Aidenag 1 year, 2 months ago in NewsGov. Sarah Palin's church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer. "You'll be encouraged by the power of God's love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality," according to the insert in the bulletin of the Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has prayed for about six years.

We need her. We need her to be President, not just Vice-President.
Reply
We need her to stand-up for family values; stand against the purveyors of filth and birth-control (I call it murder). Stop the sodomites and the baby killers. Fight the heathens and lead a crusade in the name of the Lord.-

A new troll......Palin can't even keep family values in her own family!
Reply
It is against the constitution of the United States to mix politics and religion therefore it would be illegal to lead a crusade in the name of the Lord (I thought that is what Bush has been doing all along and why the Evangelicals where all behind him.....I guess I was wrong)-

There is a difference between having personal beliefs and carrying on a crusade with the help of the Lord, through your church. I wouldn't vote for anyone who didn't have a strong belief in God and morals to live his or her life by. I think to elect someone with no morals is a very frightening thing.

Please, I don't need her to stand up for MY family values.... she can't even keep values in her OWN family!! Maybe if she was such a great woman of the church she would be HOME more and paying attention to her own children instead of attempting us how to raise ours! If she stands for family values why is her teenager pregnant?
Reply
Seriously, the woman has a 1-year-old infant. How much quality time does she think she can devote to raising her BABY if she is vice president of the United States. It could be 9 years old before he knows what his mother looks like, that is just sad and definitely NOT what the bible teaches. You can't pick and choose which parts you want to support.-

SCREW any and all arrogant idiots who think the church has the right to tell us who we can love. Those who advocate for this are full of crap. and those who seek to impose the will of the church by force (which is what a "crusade" is) should be resisted with force. -

People who want to come out of the life of homosexuality and lesbianism can do it. There are thousands of people who have given up that lifestyle. Some have become ministers who are trying to reach other homo's who are stuck in that base and disgusting lifestyle. No one is born that way. The give in to these sexual perversions. Oh, I'm sure I'll be accused of being homophobic for saying that. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'm don't hate them, nor am I afraid of them. I just think the lifestyle is an abomination just as the Bible states.

The Bible doesn't say a homosexual lifestyle is an abomination. It only addresses one specific sexual act, and in context likely addresses it with reference to a particular pagan act, acted out by Levites (part of the priest class in Ancient Israel).
Reply
Reading the Bible in English translation is bad enough, but trying to interpret it in the light of a low-context society when it was written in a high context, honor and shame society is ridiculous.
Homosexuality isn't a choice any more than heterosexuality is a choice. I didn't 'choose' to be attracted to those of the opposite sex, nor was my environment the cause of it. There are plenty of homosexual children born to heterosexual parents, even ones with a strong moral and ethical base.
What a sad day it is when so-called 'Christians' decide they no longer want to be little Christs and spread hatred and division instead of openly embracing those in society marginalized.-

I guess I missed something. How is praying for homosexuals to be returned to heterosexual so that they can lead normal lives a hateful thing? We've listened to gay child after gay child and gay man after gay man tell us how awful their lives were and that no one would have chosen to be gay. Christians have responded in prayer...and you find that hateful too?

Reply
Telling someone they are not 'normal' and that who they are and who they have been from birth is not who they really are and not acceptable in God's eyes is about as hateful as one can get.
Implying in any way that people who are born homosexual, given life by God, are in any way exposed to less of God's life-giving light is hateful.
Implying that it is not 'natural' is a moral judgement and not one made by God.
God gives gifts every day. Perhaps homosexuality is God's latest gift to help hateful, narrow-minded, jugemental people like you realize Christ's vision that there is no 'other.' That all are, have been and will be 'of God.'
"We've listened to gay men, et cetera, tell us how awful their lives are"
Yes. Often because of discrimination, violent words and violent actions directed at them by self-proclaimed Christians who have decided to usurp God's role and pronounce judgement upon people simply because they are 'different.'-

I'm sorry, but then you be correcting the viewpoints of your gay comrades. We pray for homosexuals all the time because it is they who have told us how awful their lives are. Can't tell you how many times I've heard a gay person say "No one would CHOOSE to be gay." So which is it? What truth are you espousing today?

"Normal" Hey! Isn't that a judgement? Now you are guilty of judging others. I will pray that your soul is spared eternal damnation.
"returned to heterosexual" I was never heterosexual. I have never been so nor do I want to be. And my life is wonderful. It would be better if I had the same rights as everyone else. It would be better if gay people weren't persecuted or murdered in the streets without punishment. But I wouldn't choose to be an outcast of society. I simply am one.
Unfortunately you will always be a bigot.

Check the numbers on the people who you say are 'cured.' I think you will be surprised by the amount of people who revert back to being who they truly are.
Do you eat pork? Do you wear two different cloths in your clothes? Do you stone women who are raped and don't scream? Have you ever lusted after another person who wasn't your spouse?
These too are aboninations. These things also cast you into hell. So before you go and use the bible to condemn people, make sure that you yourself aren't comdemned by it as well.

Does conservative America honestly think that gay people are just misguided straight people? Do they honestly think, that one night a straight guy went to bed, was visited by the devil in his dreams and then woke up in the morning and thought to himself, gee today's the day I'm going to go out and suck me some c*ck.
Gay people are gay, not because of choice, but because they were born that way.-

think about this what about the straight men who loved the v tunnel. and got married then in the mid years started feeling strange, yeah it's a lifestyle because people change just like that. you can be happy one minute mad the next, And prove to me a child will be gave, and because they're femmy or townboy proves they were with the opposite sex after birth for way to long, because we do what we see, we see someone wear caro jeans with nikes so we do it. I know beautiful young ladies that are townboys because they hang with brother or daddy' s but are horny dogs around men. Please dont speak for all of them as i try not too.

I know many men who came out late in life. The reason that they had to was because of fools like yourself who judged gays as inferior to straights. They couldn't be who they truly were. So they cheated on their wives the whole marriage. Then, when the kids were old enough, they left their wives and families to truly be themselves. I also have some friends who stayed married because the wives didn't want to be alone.
You are totally ignorant of gay history.-

Praying for someone's basic, inborn nature to change while attacking the very core nature of their being and telling them they are sinful sodomites who will burn in hell is just as destructive. Think of how much hatred and violence such decisions sow in the world. Look at all the examples of hateful, misguided people who have attacked homosexuals because of words like that which offer excuses for hateful attacks of all sorts. Jesus wept. And He weeps still for all the hatred and violence commited in His name.-

What an ignorant person. There is so much scientific research showing that Homosexuality is largely genetic and then influenced by the hormones in the mother's uterus during early pregnancy. Prayer to change sexual orientation? If God didn't want gays to exist he would never have created them (to you creationists). Palin is a nightmare. Can you actually see this woman as the Pres of the US if something happened to McCain. The woman is Britney Spears' family but better mannered.

And to clarify things, God didnt CREATE homosexuals we did, he gave of the choice remeber i've seen Boys Go from straight to gay and girls too, so please get off the computer and look around the world. God honors man's(women too) choice he doesnt say follow me now or die, he say's if you choose! choose to follow me you will have ever lasting life.

This one is for Eagle Eye................. I have no idea where everyone gets the notion that seperation of church and state is part of the Constitution, it is NO WHERE in the Constitution of the United States. The ONLY reference made to the 'seperation of church and state was in a personal letter from John Adams to Congress and it dealt Specifically with keeping the state out of the Church, not the church out of the state. Read your 1st ammendment again and see if it doesn't allow for the FREEDOM of RELIGION.. I really wish people would stop using this LAME excuse and START remembering what this country was founded on......the statutes and mandates of God Himself.

The separation of church and state is a legal and political principle derived from the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . ." The phrase "separation of church and state", is generally traced to an 1802 letter by Thomas Jefferson--NOT John Adams-- to the Danbury Baptists--NOT Congress--, where Jefferson spoke of the combined effect of the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment.

And again. The Constitution is not a *ick and jane book for the ignorant. It is the culmination of a history that spanned years of work by intelligent and brave men. If you're too lazy to study that history, and study the actions and words of those men so that you can understand the intents of the Constitution, that's your loss. But don't come whining like a two year old because they didn't make it clear enough for you to grasp. Go educate yourself. No one can do that for you. -

Garbage.
The majority of legal documents made at the time of the Constitution were FULL of 'God' language. That the founders of the country (who were mostly Deists -- not neccesarily Christians) specifically left that language OUT of the constitution says a lot.
That in addition to this they added the anti-establishment clause (essentially saying that the government could not recognize any one religion over another) says a hell of a lot more.
The 'statutes and mandates of God' as outlined in the OT are likely ones that most sane Americans do not want to follow. Such as murdering those who are not Christians, not planting two types of seed in the same plot (so much for shade/sun grass mix), binding money to one's hand, not cutting the hair at the 'corners of the head,' et cetera.
If you want to go ahead and embrace the beatitudes, thought to be the most accurate record of the basics of Christ's teachings, that'd be great. Only expect to be among a small, small minority of the Christians that go around shouting how Christian they are in their actions.

Not just her church, but the entire church of believers in Jesus Christ should be in the converting business of homosexuals...along with all others that are lost in their sin. Homosexuality is simply another sexual fetish and is not the stronghold that so many are convinced it is. No one is born a homosexual any more than someone is born a muderer or a thief. You are not a murderer until you killl someone. Not a thief until you steal something...and not a homosexual until you...well...you know what I mean. Whether you continue as a thief, murderer or homosexual is a choice. Thieves love to steal. Some muderers become serial killers...and those cought up in homosexuality have simply decided they like it and want to continue. Sin is sin...and Jesus died to set everyone free from their sins. So...as for Sarah Palins church...I say...Halellujah !!!

Sarah Palin is an extremist. I do not want for her or any other politician to tell me how to live my life. She is anti abortion regardless of circumstances, she is anti gay-- and believes that you can change someones sexual preference with prayer, and banned books that she deemed offensive from the library in the rural town where she was mayor. She scares me!!! And as someone who lives in rural America, I know first hand how difficult and demanding the job of mayor is: the mayor of one town near me- population of 6,000-- was the secretary of the local high school before she was elected mayor, and has continued to be the school secretary while mayor. Another local small town mayor is the busboy at his family's restaurant in the town!! They are certainly not VP material!! So much for the "executive experience" Sarah Palin has from her job as mayor. I want to live in an America where I am free to make the decisions that are right for me and my family.
