Comments for Sarah Palin may have women flocking - to Barack Obama »

If John McCain wanted to poach the women's vote from Barack Obama, he shouldn't have tapped a running mate who dubbed herself a "pit bull with lipstick."

The Democrats just opened up a headquarters in my town. My wife printed up some flyers. Now she wants to put stickers and flags all over my pickup and drive all over town. Thanks a lot Palin. My wife has never done anything remotely like this before.

Gee, I thought women were FOR women's rights. I guess only if it's pro-abortion women's rights.

        That's the point, Mutainia.

Women's rights are about helping women--not about seeing just any woman elected to high office. Look at what Palin stands for, and you'll see she stands AGAINST women's rights.

Actually, women's rights can be summed up in one issue, abortion on demand, which ironically means many females are deprived of any chance of life, the most basic of rights.

Having the ability to choose is a a right, it's people like you who want to deprive females of the most basic of rights!

IF you think Sara Palin is fit to be leader of the free world, then vote for her.

And the people who do vote for her will be the same blank slates that voted GW Bush into office and are responsible for the 8 year demise of the USA.

Sarah Palin is a younger version of Phyllis Schlafly. You probably don't know about Phyllis. She's a brilliant (but misguided) woman who worked against women back in the 70s & early 80s in order to defeat the Equal Rights Amendment. The men in charge used Phyllis to their advantage, and when the ERA was defeated--Phyllis drifted into obscurity. Why? Because she was a tool, not a true player. Palin's being used against women. She doesn't believe in sex ed in schools, nor in birth control (her daughter is a prime example of that). She believes in banning library books you don't agree with. She believes in aerial killing of the Alaskan wolf in order to leave more game for the big game hunters so they too can have bearskin rugs and mounted heads on their walls like she has in her home. She believes in pork--and I'm not talking about the kind you put catsup on. During her little reign, she has gotten over $27 million in pork already for Alaska--an oil rich state. Oh yes, she does NOT believe in global warming, or that the polar bear is threatened with extinction because of the melting ice. She also has the rep for wanting things her way and if you disagree with her, she takes it personally. Like "It's my way or the highway." She is anti-abortion even in cases of incest or rape. Which means she would take choice away from millions of American women... Joe Biden has been working for women's rights, including the Violence Against Women Act and also more freedoms for the women in Afghanistan. I can't see this female doing THAT.

are millions of american women/girls being raped, or in incestuous relationships?WOW, what a statistic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to belittle those tragic stories, I just think using "millions" is too much hype.
This female, Palin, is just a pro-women as Biden any day of the week. Maybe she doesn't have his IQ, LOL, but she sure has a good heart, and is already proving herself as a born leader.

That's an odd view of her record.

She has looked into banning books and tried to fire the town librarian because of it.

She was forced to hire an administrator to run the town for her. And she still took a town with no debt when she started into $22 million in debt when she left. Some leadership.

She also has cut funding to the high school that her children attend, forcing it to lay off teachers and drop some classes. That's a real big hearted woman there who really cares about her children.

The blather on and on about Sarah Palin just proves liberals are worried. No republican leader condemed Spears, perhaps a conservative pastor or the like did. If you are looking for perfect, it ain't Obama, and it's not Palin. Every great leader in our past had things to hide, (JFK, FDR, WJC, RMN, LINCOLN, Martin Luther King, Jr., etc. Look at the hate towards America he espoused from Obama's Christian pastor's pulpit! The most hate coming out of this campaign is from the Dems. The thought process in the Dem campaign is, "if we can't find something bad on Palin, twist it to our benefit, lie and stretch it, and get our liberal news outlets to promote it, we are SUNK!" I grew up poor, I had one two pair of pants to wear to school when I was in elementary school, so I am the person that should want a nanny state, but I grew up knowing that the democratic party leans towards socialism, socialism leans towards communism, and communism is poison to the human soul. It would only take a few terms of Dem power to shove us as a nation much farther to the left. I am thankful that the American people won't let that happen, there is a corporate Americna IQ that transcends politics.

Let's think about pro-life. What is it, what does it mean? I think we all know it means that a child in the womb has the same rights as a child outside the womb. Now let's try to twist that, make it sound sinister..................Sorry, I can't think of anything.

                  Now......lets call pro-choice what it is..pro-murder. Now let's make that more sinister......sorry, I can't.

If a mom's life is in danger, most conservatives think abortion should be the solution, btw. Can you walk up to a child that has a mother who conceived that child in a incestuous relationship or attack and pull the trigger? Would you say it's ok for someone else to pull the trigger? What if the mother of the child were raped? What gives you the moral authority to pull the trigger and put that child to death, because of the circumstances of the conception? Abortion is a tough issue, the moral imperative is that, if you believe in the Bible, thou shalt not kill...

B O believes that a born child, and a viable life, should not be kept alive if it's the result of a botched abortion. That child is trash to him, to God, it's a beautiful life. Don't kill children, you were one once.

Palin could be a great leader, possibly a great V.P. or even President of the U.S., but her timing couldn't be more wrong. As a mother 2 children, who fortunately have perfect health, I can't imagine relinquishing their care to a nanny or even another family member to prove my abilities. Mrs. Palin has 5 children with 2 whom desperately need a mother's touch, love, and "daily" attention. If a woman chooses to have a family she needs to take care of that family. Sarah Palin's love for her country and career should have waited another 10 years so that her most important priorities could be addressed. I lost all respect for McCain as well due to the fact that he enticed her with such an honor but most obviously at the WRONG time. I've always said, TIMING is EVERYTHING!!!!!!

                      Dear jdhorner, et al,

Whether one agrees with her political views or not is our own God-given choice. It's also our right as Americans so I wont belittle anyone who thinks differently than I. So, keep in mind that the following is just my opinion. I do take exception at the narrow mindedness of some people who say that Palin is somehow a bad parent if she is not home taking care of the kids the way you and others think she should.(paraphrase). Last time I checked, she had a loving husband who has no apparent issues on taking care of them. The only thing he can't do is breast feed. :) I am a father of 5 children. My wife and I are both professional people. My wife runs a rehabilitation hospital and is required to travel extensively. I am able to take care of our children just as well as she can. There are a few single parents out there, you know; and some of them happen to be fathers. Its interesting to me that in these "modern times" some would have you think that it is ok for men to be in political power, but not women. If you are a woman and you "choose" to not pursue other ambitions outside the home... GREAT. That is your choice. But please don't criticize someone else who thinks differently. By the way, I do a great job taking care of our kids. My oldest just started college, he is an honor student, and got an academic as well as athletic scholarship to a private university. my 12 year old and 10 year old are also honor students, blackbelts, play basketball for their schools, swim on the swimming team, and volunteer at our church. Our 5 year old twins are also doing well and are in gymnastics.

One more thing, we are not rich, and don't have nannys. My wife and I take care of them, ourselves. I am not saying all of this to brag, just simply to say that it can be done. If my wife and I can do it, I am sure someone like Sarah Palin can do it too.
And she'll probably have more help than I do. I'm sure if her husband has a problem with any of this he will let Sarah know. It is an idividual family issue and we should stick to the issues.

sorry, the dad should be able to handle the upbringing, just as a first-lady should be able to. Or should all parents of smaller children be disqualified for the vp or presidency? that is too sexist

From this person's career it is self-evident that ambition and self-promotion always triumphed over tlc of her family.
Nothing wrong with; not every woman is expected to be a stay-at-home mother in these times - and many can't afford to be, even if they would like to, but let that be simply and clearly and honestly stated.

I think it's great that you can read into the heart of Palin, you certainly seem to be perceptive. A strong woman is a little intimidating to weak people, and one that has such a beautiful family, career, patriotism, faith, and obvious love for her country is pretty big jolt to liberal sensitivities!

It's her misuse and abuse of power.

O'Bama has plenty of experience in his own upbringing to know the real problems that affect the low-income and single parent households. Before more people level accusations, such as the angry ones I have read here, don't you think it would be fair to read the specifics of his achievements and proposals at http://www.barackobama.com? And then just as fair to visit the McCain website to compare the differences? Out of respect for the people who visit here, and the importance of this upcoming election; I urge everyone to really listen to what people are saying and then speak from factual evidence, not just assumptions. I know this is a social website, but that doesn't mean we all have to be idiots when we speak.

Tisk, tisk, tisk. It has been made evidently clear to the citizens of our great United States that, the timeline for the Repulican Party's near destruction of the greatest country ever, is nearly at hand. We have survived the test of the "Idiots"...woohoo! Our universal suffrage is almost over. And now a word from our President:

"There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, it's probably in Tennessee, that says...fool me once, sh..sha..shahah...shame..shame on you?.. If ya fool me, I can't be fooled again..." - President George W. Bush

And now another word from our President"

"Too many good Docs are gettin' outta business...too many OBGYNs aren't able to practice their..their love with women all across this nation" - President George W. Bush

I have recently returned from a trip to Europe, and everywhere I went that I was able to engage in conversation with people, though most of them struggled through trying to speak English, though they gave it a try, which is the least I can say for the current President, who can't even conjugate a verb or noun, shared their thoughts about our country's current political situation. Their sentiment was this, "Obama, McCain, anybody but the asshole you guys have in office right now!" Now, I don't much give a care about what foreigners think, but truly, if we put McCain and Sarah Satan in office, we'll continue to suffer the wrath. It's time for the Republican Party to step aside and to allow the Democrats an opportunity to clean up this completely retarded mess, that a retard and his party made. Hell, right now I'd vote for Charlie the cigarette smoking Chimpanzee, if he could re-invigorate our economy, bring home my fellow soldiers, and work to re-gain the footing of credibility and esteem that our country once held in the eyes of the world, that was before we let Bonzo, the bike riding Monkey lead us into the pit of hell that we are in right now.

VOTE NO! For McCain / Stalin..oops, Palin
                          and

VOTE YES! For Charlie the cigarette smoking Chimpanzee / Bonzo the bike riding Monkey

Rev Wright was only thrown under the bus when it looked like his brand of Christianity was poison to Obama's aspirations. Look at the other friends, he is dangerous to his party, and surely dangerous to the US. He had rather lose than win in Irag, and only recently ackknowledged that the surge had worked, even politically. Obama is an empty suit, a bunch of words sounding pretty, (except for the uh uh uh uh umm), not a loser per se, but certainly not a winner. Class warfare will only get you so far.

Sarah Palin is the face of hypocrisy. A liberal isn't suppose to say one word about her. Rush Limbough recently said "This is a great republican ticket we have Jesus, guns and a hot chick!" How insulting to the republican party. Do the republicans really think they alone have Jesus on their side! If Joe Biden had a teenage daughter pregnant that would really be fodder for the repubs-those godless dems they would reply.
Sarah Palin's abstinence only course did not work for her(shot gun wedding) and did not work for her daughter, now she wants to inflict it on the country! No thanks, my three daughters are wonderful girls and also attend schools that EDUCATE them on their reproductive system so if and when they have a child it is planned. Now that is promoting life in a modern world. Be responsible MS. Palin

the pregnancy thing, you folks are so off base. If Palin's daughter were running for office, I'd say have at it. She's not, so you are beating up on nothing.

No one is pushing perfection, just common and decent leadership, from someone who actually can do it. Obama talks about it, McCain/Palin have done it....FACT

Obama, sadly, has a host of friends that will pull him down, it makes that unfortunate pregnancy look like nothing in comparison

There goes that liberal media at the Daily News again. They are just trying to embarrass Sarah Plain with their lies.

We need her. We need her to be President, not just Vice-President.

We need her to stand-up for family values; stand against the purveyors of filth and birth-control (I call it murder). Stop the sodomites and the baby killers. Fight the heathens and lead a crusade in the name of the Lord.

I pity anyone who does not see her as I do.
