Comments for The Vanishing Republican Voter »
Posted By Neophile 1 year, 4 months ago in NewsAs a general rule, the more unequal a place is, the more Democratic; the more equal, the more Republican. The gap between rich and poor in Washington is nearly twice as great as in strongly Republican Charlotte, N.C.; and more than twice as great as in Republican-leaning Phoenix, Fort Worth, Indianapolis and Anaheim.

A thoughtful article

Equality in itself never can be or should be a conservative goal.
But inequality taken to extremes can overwhelm conservative ideals of self-reliance, limited government and national unity. It can delegitimize commerce and business and invite destructive protectionism and overregulation.
Inequality, in short, is a conservative issue too. We must develop a positive agenda that integrates the right kind of egalitarianism with our conservative principles of liberty.
If we neglect this task and this opportunity, we won’t lose just the northern Virginia suburbs. We will lose America.-

Good article, but you wouldn't think the republican party is shrinking that much by the latest polls.

It is probably true that some have changed parties both ways. People are easily swayed by what they see on TV and by local gossip, the facts often only get them confused. -

From the AOL News (Sept. 7) - John McCain has overtaken Barack Obama in the Gallup daily tracking poll and has his highest level of support in that poll since early May.

Thankfully it appears more people really do want a change, and for once have our government actually get something done. Just a question doesn't our Democratic majority lead congress have a lower approval rating than our pres?? Didn't they declare they would make things happen? Wasn't Barack Obama a part of all that? What did they get done?

What's laughable is the facts from the last twoo elections...whilst republicans are laregly land-owning tax paying decendants of middle America. Democrats were inner city types bused in by local jobbers and given twenty a pop to hit the polls.

Democrats will be busing in the scum and deadbeats again...especially when these stains try to allow felons to vote. The polls will be transported to the prisons.
Another "Checks and Cheese political" sandstorm.
Steamy and creamy...
you know what?

Since this is a country aiming for equality, the Republican ticket of McCain/Palin makes all the more sense. No one said that hard earned money from fair labor had to be disseminated to others less fortunate. This then is an ethical matter. Whether one should be forced to be taxed heavily or simply give to those in need. It is unAmerican to be forced into anything by the government. Perhaps the most drastic example will be the destruction of Health Care in America by Obama/Biden. Socialized Medicine in Britain and Australia is a misnomer. The wealthy pain private doctors to have their painful gallbladder or breast cancer removed immediately. The patients seen by government physicians wait months for the same procedures. The poor and middle class would suffer painfully in a Socialized System. Being an ex-Navy doctor, an oncologist I saw 15 patients a day to keep my skills up, my colleagues saw 3, and called me a fool for seeing more because we were paid the same. The VA is a perfect example and the film "Article 99" fairly accurate about the future of Health Care. We threaten drug companies whose Research and Development teams have brought cures to leukemias, testicular cancer and lymphomas with Breast Cancer, Colon Cancer and Prostate Cancer not far behind. Obama/Biden will render America into a Third World nation, and maybe thats what Democrats want....its simplier living in countries were governments are not accountable. Who is more likely to achieve bipartisanship McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden. The first ticket wins hands down, providing Nancy Pelosi quietly becomes a wisp in the willows.

Besides the Republican voter has not vanished, they have become more apparent since the addition of Gov. Sarah Palin. Because Republicans had no need to bolster McCain in the primaries why go out. The Democrats on the other hand had to choose between an inept but celebrity-like president vs. "The Queen of the Damned", it took alot of voters to iron that out. The silent majority is alive and well and eclipses the youth vote, celebrity vote and the African/American vote.....thats been apparent since Clinton. Unfortunately George W. Bush failed America. Obamas comparing Bush and McCain is like comparing a missing Air National Guardsmen from Texas to Rambo, The Punisher and Top Gum rolled into one Hero, that even Joe Biden cannot deny.

She was not chosen to help Republican choose to vote. She was chosen to sway women to vote Republican. She will do little if anything to sway the evangelicals or the hard core conservatives that this is the winning ticket. They already made up their mind before he made a VP decision.
