Although the Constitution in Florida requires a higher threshold than the 50 percent plus one majority to amend the document, the people of Florida are clearly not pro-gay marriage. All that will have been accomplished by defeating this amendment is that the GLBT community will have prevented enshrining bigotry in the state constitution. The drawback is that the law in Florida still allows heteros only to wed.
