I dunno. It seems fair for any sane American to be a little upset at the blatant level of lying, dishonesty and corruption bubbling out from the McCain/Palin team. Even more so that the same hypocrites who attack Obama/Biden on non-issues are willing to overlook blatant lies and disturbing truths.

FTA- "...breaching one of the last taboos of US politics by accusing the Republicans of outright dishonesty."
Reply
Why would anyone accuse the Republicans of being outright dishonest?
935 false statements
President George W. Bush and seven of his administration's top officials, including Vice President **** Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, made at least 935 false statements in the two years following September 11, 2001, about the national security threat posed by Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Nearly five years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, an exhaustive examination of the record shows that the statements were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.

"You can't just make stuff up, you can't just reinvent yourself," he said earlier in Flint, Michigan, in response to Palin's boast that she had intervened to kill the federally funded bridge.
Reply
He is the one to know you can't just reinvent yourself. He's been trying to do that now for two years.
"The American people aren't stupid." Is he just now finding that out?-

He called it like he saw it. He's been too laid back. It's time to be a little more agressive with McCain/Palin. They have broadcast ads making themselves out to be some kind of "mavericks". They been using lies to support that claim. Thanks to Olbermann and Maddow yesterday they allowed him to see that he was letting the McCain team get away with too much. Good on you, Obama!

As ususal, at every election Republicans lie, make false allegations against the Democratic Candidates.

Let's trust and believe that Obama/Biden are going to be strong enough to win, despite the Republican's smear campaign.

While Obama claims to be an agent of "change," he's voted consistently with his party's line 94.8-96% of the time during his short stint in the U.S. Senate. He had a similar record in the Illinois senate. How can he pretend that he can effect change when his record shows no evidence of nonpartisanship.
Reply
Both McCain and Palin have stood up to their own party. In fact, Obama's contention that McCain has voted with Bush 90% of the time is an outright lie. Here is McCain's record of voting with his party since 2001: 2001-2002: 76.2%; 2003-04: 84.5%; 2005-06: 79.4%; 2007-08: 88%. And when you average those percentages, McCain has voted with his party 82% of the time over those 4 sessions. Why can't Obama do the math?-

where did you get those numbers?
Reply
because according to Congressional Quarterly, McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time in 2007 and 100% of the time in 2008.
here's a year by year breakdown of how much McCain voted with Bush, according to Congressional Quarterly
2001 - 91%
2002 - 90%
2003 - 91%
2004 - 92%
2005 - 77%
2006 - 89%
2007 - 95%
2008 - 100%
so again, I don't know where you got your numbers.
and even if your numbers were right, voting with Bush 82% of the time is still very high.
so either way, McCain is anything but a maverick.

I would not vote for Barack Obama as he scares me.to death. With his background and remarks about white people (which he seldom mentions) who raised him, his mother was not in the picture much. He was raised in the Muslim religion and school. Who is he trying to kid? Biden never looks happy and scowles a lot. I would not have voted for loud mouth Hillary either. At least Sarah Palin wears dresses and suits and not pants suits. She has a

What I find highly amusing is that a politician is blaming another politician for changing their view on an issue. Isn't that common fodder amonst all of them? Isn't it "the way" to flip flop on issues especially when you have all sorts of big business & lobbiests pushing & pulling you? Also, I also find it highly amusing that Barack is whining that Palin is reinventing herself. Look in the mirror big guy. Who were you not too long ago? You used to be affiliated with Louis Farrakhan who is a minister in the Nation of Islam & Rev. Wright who is a racist & a seperatist.
Reply
Neither party is standing too strong on the issues and they both flip flop here & flip flop there. Finally it is also very amusing that Obama is complaining that McCain & Palin are lying and crying for change. Both parties lie, what is new? Also, every campaign that I have ever heard, in my 20+ years of listening, cries for change. Each party always says how they are going to do things different and bring a change to this great country for the betterment of all Americans. If anyone is surprised by this...
Anyway, it is important to see through all the political crap & find your way to making the best choice for you & get out & vote so we as Americans can't whine about the outcome because we know we did our part. -

What? Obama is against lying? Then why does HE lie? His grandfather Liberated Aushwitz, when it was really the Soviets? He never heard anything anti-American in the Nation of Islam like church he attened for 20 years without bolting? Man, just like a Muslim. Israel is evil, NOT those that shoot rockets willy nilly into Israeli neighhorhoods from territory (Gaz) Israel traded in the hopes of achieving peace.

He's right. They are liars. Gotta say what's true, because the faux media sure as hell isn't going to point it out. It's a damn shame so many Americans are stupid. They should have been able to figure this out for themselves, but as that isn't the case, Obama has no choice but to point it out.

Clinton lied about a BJ. We had 8 years of prosperity, and a budget surplus.
Bush has lied about the Iraq war, about wanting to go after Bin Laden, the economy, healthcare, education, lack of funding into our domestic problems. His business dealings with the Saudi Monarchy, Bin Laden's family, and the Sheikhs in Dubai.
McCain has lied about the reasons for (oil) and success of the Iraq war, the economy (he says Americans are a bunch of whiners). The last 8 years under Bush have seen ZERO prosperity, and we are in debt with China.
Obama has been honest with issues that matter the most. Obama was the first to say the Iraq war needs to end, the economy needs to be better, we need to stop outsourcing our jobs to foreign countries, our healthcare system needs improvement. -

Someone's religion is THEIR business. Why don't you mind your own business and let someone who knows what they are doing run the country. The only choice is Obama, to think someone who is going to bring us to the brink of another world war (McCain) is very shortsighted and just plain stupid.

Why doesn't anyone care about the past? How Phil Graham and John McCain stalled the investigation of the Charles Keating Savings and Loan scam that ruined retirees life savings. The federal ruling came out just recently saying McCain fell short of Criminal acts but exercised POOR judgement. Is this the experience we're wanting? And I don't care about religion as much as I care about a first lady who thinks she is in Star Wars (Cindy McCain). I left the republican party due to total embarassment of the last 8 years. Karl Rowe, Rumsfield, Cheney, and Wolfawitz are criminals and they all got promoted. Where IS your religious conscience, America?
