Comments for Scientists receive death threats over "end-of-world" experiment »
Posted By Fedquip 1 year, 3 months ago in Science & TechnologyThe scientists behind the world's biggest-ever scientific experiment have received death threats from critics who claim it could cause the end of the world. Experts are attempting to recreate the forces that occurred in the immediate aftermath of the Big Bang, which created the universe. To accomplish this feat, the Large Hadron Collider, located in Geneva, Switzerland, will be switched on this Wednesday. Professor Brian Cox of Manchester University (who also played keyboards on the 1997 UK hit single "Things Can Only Get Better") is among those who have received the threats. He was quick to dismiss the public's fears about the LHC. "Anyone who thinks the LHC will destroy the world is a t---." To hear this ex-rock-star and British brainbox talk discuss the LHC in greater detail, check out the video below.

After screwing up the natural environment just for greed or else to have more and replacing scientific investigations and formal/mathematical logic with mere faith or so called Creationism mumbo jumbo; this is time for our genes to go through an another evolution to get rid of those that instigates all sorts of non-scientific thought paradigms within us. I think only knowledge can take us to the route to the Truth that in turn enable us to transition to the next phase/level of existence. Only there we may(?) find the gateway to advance knowlwdge/experience which may enable us to ponder more effectively to ascertain the basic explanations behind the Big Bang or ..... other pertinent questions.........

The world actually needs this, jeyliberty. The kids that play with this oversized toy will become the world's next generation of particle physicists, and even if the experiment produces nothing useful, these kids will find work producing clean nuclear energy when all the world' oil is gone, and some might even find jobs making isotopes for medical research and treatment of disease...

Bottom line: yeah, it's one expensive toy, but it will educate the next generation of smart nuclear engineers - and that's got to be worth something.-

I say if we screw the universe up, so be it! what is an anonymous internet commenter going to do about it? Besides You and me will both die withing the next 150 years anyway. Universally speaking, that is so little time that ,universally speaking of course, it never happened. Get over it man. Either the universe ends (doubtful), or we discover our very origins (besides apes that is), and so many other possibilities that this could create. You make the choice for yourself and hope you can please every little insignificant internet commenter in the world. So what's your move?

Opponents of the large hadron collider are afraid its ability to smash atoms at such high speeds that it will generate temperatures of one trillion degrees centigrade will create a mini-black hole that could “tear the earth apart” How could a "mini" black hole be stable and self-sustaining?For a black hole to exist do you not need to accept credit card or the mass of a large star to provide enough gravity to collapse normal matter into a singularity?

How could colliding a few sub-atomic hadrons provide enough gravity to spontaneously degenerate the entire mass of the Earth?

And yet, more and more scientists, particularly those who deal with such concepts as sub-atomic particles, are saying that the orderliness of the universe, whether created by a big bang or fashioned by a creator, leaves no doubt that there is an intelligence that formed the entire universe. The chances being random of that kind of specificity throughout all forms of matter gives odds far too great to imply that creation was happenstance. Some scientists who had made science their god for many years have sought out their Creator as a result of what they have learned in science.

Ahh be careful on the comment about the flood. It said it was a flood of the known world. I agree the flood myth may in fact be based on an actual event, such as the flooding of the Black Sea, however the bible clearly claims the waters covered the mountains "that were under the whole heaven". It further claims every thing on Earth died, a global event.

To your latter point: the Big Bang theory does not posit the universe came 'from nothing'. A singularity is certainly not nothing. What cosmologists are unsure of is what existed before that singularity. Indeed, we may never know, but there are several theories. Some theories may gain evidence from the observations of the LHC collisions, while others may be entirely discredited.

That's not entirely accurate. Most science builds on previous science. It is quite rare for an accepted theory to be entirely proven wrong. Darwinian evolution has remained mostly accurate for the past 150 years, though it has certainly been built upon by Mendelian genetics.

Darwinism has been adopted by the "right" in the form of Social Darwinism, which is derived from an incorrect intepretation of the Survival of the Species doctrine.

One missing detial about Darwin is that he also stated that systems work due to cooperation of the species, not the alleged elimination of weaker species. If the stronger species were to eliminate the weak, they would be committing species suicide. Balance is the key to survival. -

Science is not about 'proof' at all. That is the realm of logic. All of science can be entirely complete and consistent in pointing to naturalistic causation, and yet God could still 'show up'. Science is 'factual', but the epistemologist in me wouldn't call it 'truthful'.

and another thing the bible was not written to be historically accurate...it was written to change ur internal self or ur nephesh.....and when you ever read a story in the bible you must think of what the text meant to the author and audience of that time....not if it is historically accurate.
almost all of these comments sound like they come from a bunch of fundamentalists who are soooooo ignorant ....just think before you type next time and research and dont think everything you believe is right(not right as meaning truth but right meaning morally right and wrong

You don't need a scientist to find errors in the bible, you just need to be able to read. There are two accounts of Genesis, one has animals being created AFTER humans, the other has animals being created BEFORE humans. They can't BOTH be right, so right there in the very beginning is a blatant error, the first of hundreds.

If you have proof, what's the faith for? I don't have faith in elephants, black holes or atoms, I have 'proof' in the form of strong, tested, testable, observable evidence for these things so no faith is needed. -

I always took the stories of the Bible metaphorically, because it was my understanding that snakes don't talk, and that means that Adam and Eve is symbolic of human's falling away from faith in the lord. Ironically this lead to my own loss of faith. I am now a proud Atheist who can respect your beliefs as long as you don't preach them in my face. I know what I am. I don't need someone who believes in an entity who controls everysingle thing in the universe (all at once) getting in my face about what I should believe

I respect the faithful, and think there is a place for religion in this world. This place is not, however commenting about topics they have no idea about. When you learn something about science and are not some evangelical nobody who rejects all science because there aren't formulas in "The good book" you can discuss it intelligently. Until then, go to church and enjoy life. Because life is to short to waste it arguing about topics that are obviously way over your head.

Maybe it even happened after a certain machine was turned on! Our history seems to repeat itself all the time. Why not the end of the world?

The problem is that most people commenting here about God don't respect that if he created everything, by their reasoning, he created science and our human ability to experiment with it. God has no place in this article not because the article excludes him, but because some of his "students" are blowing smoke about a concept they know nothing about. This article is not about defending or offending God, it's about something completely removed. I understand the attitude that science minded people have toward "christians" sorry about all the wierd attitudes we give. Just a quick comment on your post. In truth those that followed Jesus are called students. The word to describe them is disciple, in Greek (transliterated) mathetria. It means student, disciplined learner. I love to learn it's relly cool. Hmmmm what would a computer be without input?:) You know there was something written in the bible, that really made me think, From a science view. It was written aprox 2700 tears ago. "As far as the East is from the West, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. " At first glance it is just a sentence, but I thought, Why East West, why not North South? It dawned on me, if I walk North eventually I will start heading South, only about 12,000 miles. But if I walk East I will always be heading East. The distance is infinite. There are amazing truths in science really cool stuff, and when looked at without prejudgement the bible is an amazing book as well. It takes time and serious study, historical, social, etc. But essentially it is about love and living to improve each other.
Take care thanks for reading this:)

First of all, why is there a need for such a machine? Science can't even cure a cold how are they going to guarentee this machine will not harm anyone or anything within it's range. For that matter affect the current time line? One would think there are far more important studies to be done.

People who rode horses scoffed at the need for cars. You can't even guarantee that car, that machine won't harm anyone (major cause of death here in the US in case you haven't been paying attention!) or its surroundings (heard of CO2 emissions?). Where did you see that this new contraption would affect the time line, and hey, couldn't we all use a little fast forward/rewind button on life? :)
Reply
And "Science" could cure the common cold...Scientists, researchers, HUMANS just haven't gotten there yet. The nature of people has always been to seek answers for what they don't know, or are unsatisfied with the current explanation. Just as many people seek to stymie that progress of knowledge because they are already sure (see religion). How about, if you think there are far more important studies (and I'm curious what those would be), go do them! Research! Study! Prove them wrong! -

Remember, scientists are only human. They are just as open to arrogance and narrow-mindedness as anybody else. I just hate how a scientist's word is always taken as 100% infallible by the general public, simply because of the fact that they are a scientist. There have been many times in history when a scientist was not willing to change their opinion on something, regardless of what the evidence may have come to show later on. They tend to be offensive and attack someone who may think differently. Even in the so-called "enlightened" era of today, many scientists have over-inflated egos.
Reply
My point is that if the people on this project are not completely sure as to what they are doing, they should let the world know. It is better to let their egos deflate a little bit, rather than to have
a REAL problem occur. I hope that they know what they are doing, but knowing the way things happen in life, I figure some unexpected variables to occur!! Can I say that out loud?!?! -

CERN and the collider have been around for years. If people are just hearing about it now and are getting outraged, well, that's their own fault. One of my good friends is in experimental physics. She recently worked at CERN and is convinced that everything will be okay.

Anyone who thinks the LHC will destroy the world is a... tart? I agree. If scientists thought there was even a remote chance the Large Hadron Collider could destroy the world, they would not have spent years and billions of dollars building it. Sending scientists death threats is the epitome of ignorance.

Are these the same gloom & doom critics Who say that humans have caused global warming? What proof do they have? Scientists must continue to experiment which might someday help solve our problems. Congress certainly have not been able to solve our problems.

I just want to know why it is so important that they turn this thing on...what will that accomplice? Who exactly needs to verify how the world was created anyway? If they are right what will that accomplish? Just so they can go to all the people with religion just to say "your wrong"? I think it is better for people to have that wonder. Alot of people NEED to believe there is more. Im not saying which I believe is true, but I just think it is crazy to put our world in danger to prove who is right or wrong.

I think it's more like they're doing it because they can. It doesn't have anything to do with religion, and I wish people would stop trying to say that it does. Science breeds technology. They're just trying to test theories and then see what they can do from there. That's it.

They arent trying to prove religion wrong they are trying to discover the beginnings of the universe and how particles developed and what makes the universe act the way it does. If not for people like them you wouldnt have anything. In fact you probably would have died from disease and starvation rather than stating your poorly informed opinions on an imaginary space (internet) created by intelligent people.

Reply
you might Argue: "God dosent kill man, man kills man"
well, there would be no killing in the name of god if ppl knew it was a myth, dont you think?
If man kills man then dont bring religion into it... Its just a scapegoat to make the weak minded feel better about their choices.

Protect- The reality is they do not know what will happen if the experiment works this time. They tried before in either 2005 or 2006, and the magnet chain was off. And I'll be quite honest with you that does cause me to worry slightly. The Higgs Particle is greatly unknown. And I do not believe a single scientist with a conscious would be doing this, especially with the 60% chance of "something going awry". It is absolutely ludicrous.

This experiment is 17 miles long and how long did it take to build, somebody knows something about what this can do and the technology supporting it, is from whos minds???? Scientists are very smart people and with the catstophes on earth the past 40 years somebody needed to try something extraterestial who knows maybe a human will come out at the end of the experiment or some fresh dirt lol a modest investment for an unknown return hmmmm.... or is it propaganda???Years ago my Grandfather told me that the items from the incident in Roswell was used to create more sophisticated craft to leave our earth and communicate to and from places they didnt know about and it was impossible to think of such things here on earth, I think he was right. What if we retrieved an aircraft from our future years ago? Would we have used its information in this present day but anyway I think the experiment is safe and confined enough that collateral damage would be confined to those who are monitoring the results, you cant blow up this planet with whats from here and besides were just a speckle in space. Im still trying to find a woman who has morals, maybe I can invent one........

Death threats? What? Over the chance that we might create a black hole in the LHC? I'm a NOOB at this physics stuff but from what I've read wouldn't we need a huge particle accelator (1000 lightyears in diamter) to ceate a micro black hole? Don' t theories speculate that high energy cosmic rays coliding with the atmosphere of earth can also create these black holes? Don't most theories postulate that the smaller a black hole the more energy it emits rather than consumes?

I can't imagine how in the world they ever convinced those in charge of the purse strings to release so much money to build this monster machine to try to prove what they call their 'creation story.' Just think of all those who could have been helped with all this wasted money. I will be surprised if this experiment proves this fairy tale they have spun, but I won't be surprised if they blow-up themselves trying.

It is apparent to me that in time we will have the capacity to create worlds. It is not the discoveries that we have seen in the distant cosmos that have brought us to the creation of this technological monstosity. It is in fact the discovery of all things inward, minute, and seemingly invisible. In order to build on a galactic scale one must first behold all its intricate components thereof. The supreme being or should i say master architect of this universe within the myriad of the now known polyverse is most wise. This is the destiny of man. To one day become one and the same with the creator. We are no doubt created in its image. It is knowledge of self that will help us attain this notion as fact and undenyable truth.

I don't doubt for an instant we have reached the capability for such horror.
They said we could never affect the atmosphere because it was "too vast." Then we had lethal coal smog over the whole of London 100 years ago, burned holes in the Ozone starting in the nineteen fifties, and are melting the icecaps and glaciers in the new millennium. They said we could never affect the ocean because it was "too big." Now dolphins have Herpes from human medical waste, the fish are loaded with heavy metal pollutants, and there are huge dead spots forming out there. Oh, WE can ignite all the oxygen in our atmosphere, or something else that would kill everything and ALL of US, because we are SO STUPID!!!!
Scientists have to show a little restraint and responsibility, too.

curiousity keeps us going foreward, wether god created the universe or not is a great debate which we must continue. science is our way of finding how things work in the universe. it is human to try to figure things out, and to try to solve earthly issues and problems. religion is also a guide for humans that higher forces may be working also in the universe. truth is we still dont know. if your religious keep your faith, if not continue to look for answers.

Curiosity just makes us go places. But it's now always forward. Or better said, it's not always the good path. Science is like walking between quicksands. If you're in a safe place you can choose to remain there (till you slowly die of boredom, if not hunger). But if you choose to walk, you have a chance to progress, but also a chance for a sooner death if you make a wrong step. And 'crespi' above gave some good examples of such wrong (most of which irreversible) steps human kind has done in the last 150 years.

What we have here is another dandy harlequin standing on the bedrock of science contributing his two-cents to the atheist movement. Why is it that so-called objective scientists like this always inject evolutionary bias into their research? Don't be deceived by this minion or the collective bias he represents. He has given an inductive argument, where the premises all seem true but the conclusion is false. We did not evolve! For those of you who are wondering, God doesn't forbid scientific endeavors, just our worship of them.

We are in terms of civilization at a cross road between spiritual and technological enlightenment. As yin cannot exist indipendeptly without yang we must acknowledge the fact that we can only achieve harmoneous balance through trial and error. Realisticly these scientific breakthroughs and/or blunders are one and the same with our daily learning experience as well. Now is not the time to criticize those whom are obviously gifted scientifically. Neither should we bash our spiritual leaders. What we must realize is that we are all infants to the truth and reason for all things "being". In time when all life has become catalyzed and calibrated with the upcoming photon belt, we will all become enlightened. Thus eradicating ignorant criticism of things that we either fear or simply have no knowledge of.

If during the experiment the world is destroyed, then God must exist and he destroyed us for messing around in his domain.
On the other hand, if the experiment is successful, then it proves that God doesn't exist, since we are one step closer to having God-like powers.-

The reason this machine is looked upon to be disastrously dangerous is because it has been found that if used, can cause little black holes in our system...and if we all know what blackholes do, they pull things toward them, things like, hmm our planet..Think about it..

There was a family stuck on the roof of their house during a flood. They prayed for God to save them. A boat came by and asked if they needed help, but the family said, "No thank you, we're waiting for God to save us." They continued to pray and a helicopter came by, offering to help them, but again they said, "No thank you, we're waiting for God to save us." After many hours of unanswered prayers, the dad got a little angry and shouted, "God, we've been praying for so long for your help, and you haven't done anything!" Now God was pretty frustrated by this point and answered, "I've sent you a boat and a helicopter, what more do you want?!"

Maybe Metallica should push up the release date of thier new cd DEATH MAGNETIC from Friday to Wednesday to coincide with this. Let's give everyone a double dose of stress over nothing...lol. Makes me wonder if Metallica knows something even these scientist don't know....lol. I have heard some of the new cd, and I am thinking that it will produce more energy than this experiment. And if the people who are making the death threats are thinking this is going to end the universe as we know it, aren't making death threats a waste of time?Hopefully this will somehow eliminate all of the stupid people in the world. Once this is turned on and scientists figure out even more about everything that created this universe and everything in it, make sure if you posted a death threat, you go on living life in "stone-age" mode. The rest of the world can and will progress without you. Maybe you should take your death threats to Pakistan and use them on Bin Laden, not some scientists who want to figure out exactly why you are here.

Even if scientists create the first particles that make up our known universe, at the end of the day, it is consciousness and intelligence that assembled this LHC device. If you look at the complexity of the biological world as opposed to the physical universe, it only points to intelligent design to me. I doubt this device will bring as much organization and complexity of particles as when the Creator created the universe. This experiment only proves that we were made in gods image, not that he doesn't exist. Why cant science and God exist together? Can you see you oxygen and nitrogen molecules? NO, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There are dimensions that we are unable to see, so how can one say that cosmic spiritual beings don't exist? Life along with consciousness is eternal, and that's because it is the will of God, because he is eternal. ONLY TIME WILL TELL, Praise Jah!

Lol. If you're going to come from a religious viewpoint, check your source material again. It's us human beings who do "intelligent design"-- and you can see the rather messy results all around us in the state of the world today.
Reply
BUT (it's a big one):
Creator on the other hand, according to all of His Messengers, does *loving* design. (You don't have to take my word for it; you can look it up in the Bible and other Holy Books-- or ask the Elders of what we call more "primitive" cultures.) There's a difference.
Creator doesn't create because he's so smart, or to impress us with or prove His vast intelligence. He does it because he loves it. If you don't get the difference, ask any artist or musician.
That it's not only loving, but intelligible too is a token of His mercy upon us. :-)

I doubt that this super collider will cause global destruction, there are far too many countries involved in this project. It is human nature to be skeptical or fearful of something that is not understood; but on the other-hand, it is also human nature to be suspicious and untrusting. This makes me beleive that if this project were a global killer it would never gotten off the ground; with all the countries involved they would have had to sign a suiside pact. I just see that happening. -

i am amazed at the potential. i am frightened by the unknown. as most humans. remember those scientists at trinity site weren't really sure if their new bomb wouldn't also end the world. in its success it just made the world more complicated. good luck!

A scientist was doing an experiment on a live frog. He picks up the frog and then sets it down on a table and says to the frog: "Jump frog, jump" ...and the frog jumps. So he thinks to himself: "Ah, my experiment is going well."
Reply
Then the scientist picks up the frog and takes a pair of scissors and cuts off the two front legs. He sets the frog on the table and says: "Jump frog, jump" ...but the frog just sits there. So he scratches the side of his head and thinks: "Hmmm."
Then the scientist picks up the frog again, takes the pair of scissors, and cuts off the two back legs. He sets the frog on the table and again he says: "Jump frog, jump" ...and the frog just sits there. So he scratches his head again, picks up his clip-board, and writes down the following conclusion:
"In my opinion, frogs with no legs are deaf." -

Can I remind others that scientists at one time did not know weather or not detonating the first nuclear explosion in the dessert of New Mexico back in 1945 would lead to the complete destruction of the planet through a continuous chain reaction. I find it interesting that Oppenheimer and Edward Teller placed bets with each other on the outcome. Perhaps the whole thing is a result of a wager.

As a physicist and a person of Islamic faith I find it odd that Christians and Atheists only hold two extreme views of existence and creation of a man. If you are a Christian you have to deny any scientific explanation for creations, and if you are a scientist you are not a Christian. Educate yourself about Islam, the only book of faith that has remained unchanged since its origination, the facts in it have never been tempered by a human hand. Islam supports and explains reasoning behind scientific discoveries that have occurred, and some that will occur in the future. Islam does not dismiss scientific claims, but rationally and logically helps you understand science and faith in parallel. Don't waste your life living in ignorance and blindness, read, learn, and open your mind.

Oh please spare me the religious mumbo jumbo. The fact that there is a GOD is understood by what has been made but ALL religion is a bunch man made garbage with the intent of swaying the human mind in a certain direction. It is said the truth is sharper than any double edged sword. -

Well, I can personally say not all Christians are so extreme. I myself am Christian, and this article's concept fascinates me. I see no conflict with my faith in God. There are plenty of other Christians, and Atheists, I assume, who are open minded enough to consider and wonder at scientific progress, we just don't waste our time posting angry, ignorant comments on every Propeller story. ~_^ Thanks for your thoughts.

This is groundbreaking discovery! Who knows what will be the benefits. Space travel at the speed of light, matter transfer through breakdown and reassembly in less than a second's time, the ability to make other planets inhabitable for life as we know it are just a few of the possibilities.I say let her rip!

first of all this shouldn't be a religious debate ll of a sudden, because it is not going to cause the end of the world.anything created by the particle collisions can be contained by magnetic fields, and since huge elctromagnets are conected to it on the outside, theres n need to worry. Secondly why can't the universe have been created by a fusion of both the creationist and big bang theories. Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe god created the big bang. the big bang fits our theories, due to laws of physics and relativity, and other factors, but what created the big bang and all those laws and the matter that started the big bang? it had to have come from somewhere didn't it? so why can't the answer simply be it was god? plus on either side of the debate, wether pro creationist or pro big bang why can't you just be more tolerant and let sleeping dogs lie. Forcing your opinions on people isn't going to get you anywhere and will only cause trouble. Not everyone is going to agree, and not everyone has to, if the world learns that it would be a better place.

Why are all the true believers upset?? I thought they were looking forward to Armageddon. Isn't that when Jesus will perform His second coming?? I wish folks would simply take an educated interest in the research and leave all this other arguing out of it. This is not a debate about creationism or evolution.
The concern is that the supercollider will create a cascade of microscopic black holes and destroy the planet. Some people are concerned about it.
This is what the supercollider debate is about.
Please go and learn for yourself about supercolliders and subatomic particles so that you can form an educated opinion on this.
The debate is really wheather or not we should be taking certian scientific risks even if the probability of harm is increadibly small. -

But let's say he IS from England, ok?...so, where's that cute accent from? I'm going to deduce his background from the evidence presented in this video:
Reply
1. Hair -- hmm, just like John Lennon's, back in the day (note the prominent center part, and the oh-so-with-it "bangs")
2. Sense of humor, easy way with the crowd --similar to John Lennon's, and Beatles in general
3. Pronunciation of "doubles" "discover" and several other words -- suspiciously, too, similar to John Lennon's
4. His being a musician --goes without saying, here....
.
....OK, I would venture to say we could safely deduce Professor Brian Fox is from none other than Liverpool, England!! -

Thus eradicating ignorant criticism of things that we either fear or simply have no knowledge of.

this is such a huge waste of money and time. while there are no cures for so many diseases, these boobs are wasting valuable intelligence on an experiment that could be catastrophic. when doubts in the scientific world were presented, they should have called off the experiment, because even one doubt means there is the possibility of tremendous error. the german scientist who attempted to prevent them from turning on the machine was proof enough that this is not a safe way to go about figuring out the mysteries of the universe. if a black hole were created, they stated that it would bip out almost immediately and everything would be fine, however, there is the likely possibility that it would not bip out and could grow to a massive size and thusly devour the planet. my hope is that the atom smasher fails miserably and doesn't work at all. it would be a good example of how the world shouldn't waste their money on such needless things.

Some acting like Nimrod built this thing dang, it is 2008 and man has ruled, filled and subdued the earth as asked... Now they learned to subdue itty bitty atom particles and smash em' .... Since when was there a black hole at the center of the universe? This could be the beginning of the world since they might learn to subdue the most fundamental aspect of nature... There is no limit to what men can accomplish especially on an international level...

knowledge is over rated. we dont need to know everything and especially risk the existence of our race. there is more to life than knowledge. The further we dig the hole of knowledge the further we raise the bar of ignorance to the truth and point of life. Just live to live and let live. This planet and our race is here for living and exploring not for destroying and wanting more. Maybe one day we will be wiser when the whole world is older.

the funny thing about all of this is one of the first things you learn in basic physics, is that energy cannot be created or destroyed. Ok so a mass of particles or whatever collided and created everything.........what started them in motion to begin with. No matter what any scientist says, SOMETHING started those particles in motion to begin with, and until science can explain that, i'm not buying it. P.S. I'm a grad student from GA TECH in ME so i'm not some uneducated kid, however this is not an area of expertise for me, I'd still like to hear an explanation of how the very first moving thing in the world STARTED MOVING OR GOT THERE TO BEGIN WITH, without going against this very basic rule. Saying something appeared and just started in motion with no outside input is the same as a scientist waving his hand and making a marble appear and roll down the hall.

anyways Evolution is a bunch of bullsh*t. I studied Molecular and Evolutionary Genetics and SCIENCE proved in the theories we read and experiment we attempted that the evolutionary perecentage index between humans and chimps is too close for us to even come from monkeys or from any other animal for that matter. 2.) Many scientists have tried to find God through an un-biased, scientific approach and have found that THERE IS A GOD, A FORCE GREATER THAN THE UNIVERSE; i.e. Newton and Einstein. In fact, Newton devoted the last years of his career to finding God and Einstein said once that if you reach the end of the universe, you'll find God. 3.)as for the big bang THEORY? there is a law that stipulates that energy cannot be created or destroyed. well, then in order for the big bang to happen you energy 'that wasnt created' thats been floating and sitting around for millions of years that all of a sudden just decided to interact and KA_BOOOMMM; Earth just popped out of that. hmm, not buying that either. and for such a reaction to occur you need a catalyst. now where the f*ck are you gonna get a catalyst that big in EMPTY SPACE? Well, ahem...God makes sense. Religion has never been the problem, but the people who use it for themselves. Science has been disproven and contradicting more times to itself than the Bible has. Oh and there are scientists working on decoding the Bible (since it cannot be taken literally and it is cryptic) and ahhh, well, they CAN'T for as intelligent as they are. The Bible is more than a book, but if anything, proof of divine intervention on paper. Another thing; see people dont believe in miracles but believe in anomalies. LOL, if A=B and B=C , then A=C, right? then an Anomaly is the same as a Miracle and a Miracle is God's work then science basically knows that THERE is a God but refuses to acknowledge it.
now, excuse me, im going to play soccer and pray to God afterwards. btw did i mention im 18? HAHA pwnd! -

alright... I truly believe in my heart the God created the universe. However we don't know how and we never will know how he caused this all to occur. God could have caused the big bang but we as humans will never be able to fully comprehend the power of God. People are curious to figure out how the Earth was made not who made it but how. It doesn't say in the bible how God made the Earth. So that is my oppinion but it's just the oppinion of a 17 year old.

science is all about observation. the lhc will allow us to observe events never seen before by man. these observations will be circulated amongst physicists and will ultimately help answer some of our most primal questions about the origin and nature of the universe. how did the universe begin? are there more than 3 dimensions? is light particle or wave or both?

Nothing is worth the risk of bringing the world to an end! What good is this discovery going to do us if the entire world is gone in the next year or so? I know I don't want to worry about the possibility of the world coming to an end soon. If these scientists would quit denying that God is real and that the Bible has all the answers, we wouldn't have to worry about this. God help us that this won't bring an end to the world.

They dont believe in God Almighty, they dont believe in Jesus Christ the Son of the living God, was conceived by a virgin, that whosoever believeth in him would have ever lasting life. They dont believe that we are living in the very last days before the rapture. We are living in the final hour before Jesus Christ returns.I am telling everyone that what is going on in our world and country economy depletion was prophecied in Matthrew 24:1-22, Mark 13:3-23 and Luke 21:5-28. All on international wars, revolutions, famines, earthquakes, epidemics, strang natural disasters, unpredictable oceanic events, worldwide dissemination of the message of Jesus, persecution of christians, rampant immorality. I was listening to Coast to Coast last night, and learned that NO one really knows what this thing will do. There is good evidence that this thing will do nothing. Then, again, there is also evidence it WILL produce black holes. But, the little black holes it might actually create are supposed to vanish due to "Hawking Radiation". That they will "evaporate" into nothing IF Steven Hawking made it to the top without people feeling sorry for him and saying, "Gee, you are RIGHT, you poor wheelchair bound guy, you. Things CAN escape a black hole AFTER all!" (Anyone study Hawking Radiation? It doesn't sound like black holes disappear, after all).
Reply
By the way, I've read that the solar energy smashing into our atmosphere DOESN'T create black holes, and that Cern will be creating something quite more powerful and unique. That it might create something far more frightening and dramatic than little black holes. But, then again, no one really knows, so, take your pick. Wouldn't it be bizarre if, in trying to find out how we came into being, we just learn how we're going to go out and it CAUSES us to go out? The Tower of Babel was built to meet God face to face, THIS is being built to see if there is a "God particle". The Tower of Babel resulted in the confounding of the languages, and, possibly, the rapid splitting up of the earth plates breaking off South America from Africa. Well, I'm not worried. I believe in God, and, believe that God is stronger than any gravitation tug created by the most massive of black holes. IF the earth starts getting eaten up by little black holes that this thing creates, I'll know that God has a funny sense of humor for sure, and was joking in His prophecy.-

Oh, I heard recently that these little black holes will servive MUCH longer, that the calculations were very off. They will servive over a second, enough time to grab an atom or two, to keep them from evaporating, and, to help them grow stronger.

do you guys even think what this can do for mankind think if we can understand dark matter than we can probably make more advanced technologies besides they are using a particle accelerator to do the experiment.but i either think these 3 things will happen.the earth will be destroyed.we have another big bang or something close to which will destroy earth in the process but create another universe.we will be able to make more technologies that are advanced.
