The Lonely Marriage of Cindy McCain »

Posted By Neophile 1 year, 2 months ago in News

In parts, this new profile of Cindy McCain in the New Yorker is almost breathtakingly sad; it certainly makes you wonder why you'd ever marry someone with serious ambitions to be president. Perhaps the amount of deception and concealment inside the McCain marriage isn't all that unusual, but it's her attempt to repackage it as a sequence of charming campaign-trail anecdotes that gives this piece its undertone of desolation.

I can imagine that Cindy McCain is depressed and feeling very alone right now, for that i do feel sorry for her. However, be careful what you ask for, you may get it.. She knew his aspirations when she married him, and she should have sent him home to Carol, that would have been the decent thing to do.

Karma catches up, money can't stop it.

It's also sad but telling about Cindy Mc that she felt the need to mislead the people during her speech to introduce her husband, allowing them to believe that she had indeed talked to Mother Theresa. Fabrications of that nature could be a sign of some kind of mental illness, (such as depression) coupled with the way the article describes her fidgiting all the time with her Blackberry, nails, etc.

No wonder Cindy McCain is taking pills to keep her relaxed and smiling. Who would want to be married to that peckerhead anyway? All he can do is talk about the past and his POW status. How boring is that? And his corny jokes are only funny to himself. He looks like a large rodent when he laughs at one of his not funny jokes. How on earth did this misfit end up a finalist for the Commander In Chief's job anyway? Bottom line, John McCain is dangerous to America and should return to Arizona where the harm he can cause is minimal.

This story should be titled "The lonely thread of Neophile".

I have to admit that Cindy McCain looks "disconnected" whenever I see her on the campaign trail. I did see a genuine smile once, but in general, she gives the vague attentiveness of a depressed person.

When reading through this article highlighting Levy's description of Cindy McCain - here's the composite: She has "lacquered" hair and a "styled stiffly" ponytail. She seems "...sharp--birdlike--and she often seems skittish, wary and fidgety.." Levy claims Cindy appears "pampered and brittle". Her home is described & compared to: "".....a long, low ranch-style house, comparable in size to the small strip malls that are occupied by tanning salons and dry cleaners a few blocks to the south." At one point Levy notes, Cindy has a "flicker of a smirk". In concluding her article Levy writes: "Cindy McCain stood by her husband’s side, her eyes rendered invisible by sunglasses, her mouth a lipsticked slash across her face—a straight line, unsmiling." Still, Levy couldn't resist comparing McCain to Michelle Obama. Michelle fares substantially better in her description as : "...outspoken, muscular, and frankly powerful." The Obamas are, according to Levy, more "traditional" (REALLY?!!!) & she further castigates Cindy for not looking her in the eye while extolling the virtue of Michelle Obamas openness. Compare the philanthropic & professional accomplishments of Cindy McCain to the descriptions Levy provides. Levy's character assassination of Cindy McCain while praising Michelle Obama clearly shows her bias. One should reasonably wonder how this colored the entire article.
