Glad to see a post that debunks the lib attack on Sarah. The twisted hater posts were starting to get on my nerves.

Today we have the lipstick on pig super gaff by Obama. That is not a coincidence. The word lipstick was self applied by Sarah Palin in innocent humor. But, it's not funny anymore. Regardless of the intent, it was my perception that Obama thought it would be funny to relate it to Sarah being the pig. I just wonder how that would play out if a Republican had applied the lipstick joke to a particular black person we know.-

Sarah will never get my vote based on what she believes in. She doesn't think that I should have a voice in government. She doesn't believe that I am a citizen of this country. She doesn't believe that children should be taught science. She has no experience on a world stage.

McCain feels the same way. Therefore they will never get my vote.

She doesn't think that I should have a voice in government.
This is a lulu way out in left field. She has never said that anyone who is a citizen of sound mind should not have a voice in this government. If you are an illegal alien you are right.
She doesn't believe that I am a citizen of this country.
If you are already a citizen of this country then you are way out in left field again. If you are an illegal alien you are right.
She doesn't believe that children should be taught science.
What she as Mayor and Governor has stated is that evolution should be taught but IF the topic comes up creationism or intelligent design is allowed to be discussed.
She has no experience on a world stage.
The gas pipeline she is pushing through involves the different indian tribes in Alaska and Canada as well as the government of Canada and the Yukon Territory and British Columbia Province. Oil deals have had her in contact with several countries where she has tried to get the best price for Alaskan oil that can't be sent to the lower 48.
That new one about gay people should be converted through her church. I found the reference you are talking about. It is her church praying for Homosexuals to hopefully lead them to being hetersexual. She has made no comment on the issue. Is that prayer going to hurt you in any way? Get real.
Homosexual adoption McCain has expressed a personal view that he does not favor adoption by them. McCain feels that it should be a state decision. Palin has not addressed the issue yet that I can find out.

"seeing it for themselves is the only way the middle of the roaders will come to Jesus so to speak."
The agenda is clear here. Your statement doesn't even need to be decoded. The rebuttal is that McCain/Palin are not Jesus! They have no relation to any such mythical figure. They will continue to enrich their base. And that is not the middle class. Palin will get run over by a steamroller if she even thinks she's going to sink anyone in Washington. Ted Stevens was like a walking dead moose by the time she got around to shooting at him. You have to look at where the Republicans interests lie, and that is clearly with Big Oil and Corporate America. Not with the average American. If you still believe in the trickle down effect you are sadly delusional.
Scared of Obama's tax policy? You shouldn't even flinch if you earn less than 150k as an individual and more than 250k as a family (the avg. household income is just under 45k!). Think we will be vulnerable to attack? We are right now! But thankfully it isn't easy for a bunch of goatherders to hatch such plans. 9/11 was years in the making. It will happen again. Only a matter of when. I look at this woman and I think what could happen in the event of such an attack. I don't ask that question about Obama.
Remeber Sarah is not running for President. That's John McCain! We can only hope this frenzy ends soon and a few issues actually get discussed between the presidential candidates. That should occur by Sept. 26th, the first debate.-

The way the media is handling this she does look like a victim. It''s laughable at face value but it works. Like Pavlovian dogs they lick it up! Many against their very own self interests. And remember that the corporate interests that run even the networks benefit in particular if McCain pulls this off. Do you think GE wants "change", Disney? Viacom?, Rupert Murdoch? Jesus a mythical figure. What planet have you lived on. There is incontrovertible evidence that Jesus existed and was crucified on the cross under Pontius Pilate. Roman historians have stated this. Other historians stated this like Josephus. Those scholars who examine the writings of Luke say he is a very good historian. The New testament was written at a time when witnesses were still living who had seen and talked to Jesus. If those writings were inaccurate then there would have been writings that point this out. The Sanhedrin and the Romans would have gleefully used them.
"Scared of Obama's tax policy?"
When he was on the O'Reilly factor he ignored the FACT that when the Bush tax cuts were put in place that there was a 19% increase in tax revenue. This happens every time the top end tax cut takes place. JFK knew this and lowered the top tax rate. It happened then. Every time the top end tax rate changes there has been an inverse relation of tax revenue to the tax change. When will liberals figure out that people in that income bracket will change their behavior to protect their money. They will put it where they can get the most return for their money AFTER taxes. They will take it out of the normal economy and put it in a protected part of the economy when taxes are raised. This will cause less money in taxes and money taken out of the general economy. Both bad things to happen.
But the Obama messiah speaks and he has to be correct. Just ignore history.

What garbage. Bush has all his political career tried to go across the aisle. The bash bush started when Gore lost. The lies about Bush started then. Bush really lost. The Supreme Court decided the election. You ignore the count and recount. The fact that the law in place decides how the election process is done. After it was over there were several groups that took the ballots and did their own count. Guess what? All but the absolute most biased group found that Bush won. But the crybaby Liberals can't get over it. All the hate rhetoric about Bush started at that point in time and only slowed down for a time after 9/11.

I agree. Good post. It's good to get facts out instead of insinuations and supposition for both sides of this story. But I have to say that every "clarification" is the story I have heard from the beginning.
Reply
I have heard that there was some confusion about her association with the Alaska Independence Party, but the story I read about it made it clear that her husband was part of that party while she has always been registered Republican. I remember thinking that it doesn't matter to me anyway because this is America..she can be whatever she wants to be. I get the flap over cessation but still, its her right even if she WAS a member.
And the thing about book banning, that story is exactly as it was told in Anne Kilkenny's email. She wasn't fired specifically because of the book ban resistance, but it was due to Palin's assertion that they weren't on the same page. Since that's what they differed on, its not logical to believe it had anything to do anything else. Much of the other stuff I hadn't heard much about. I did read about her not pushing creationism in the schools, so I guess that had been something people have said about her.
The thing is, I think this shows that you need to be careful where you get your news from and what you consider a "reliable" source. So much out there is tabloid and people really need to dig a little deeper to find the truth before accepting the first thing they read or hear on the television. When getting any news, the first think everyone should be asking themselves is..considering the source, is this likely true or false? Because seriously, the SOURCE can tell you up front often whether or not something is true. People have to take that responsibility on themselves..to be smarter than the scammers.-

Switching gears: Almost 100 readers have written to ask us if the many claims made about Palin in an e-mail written by someone named Anne Kilkenny are true. We can tell you that Kilkenny is a real person. (She was quoted by the Chicago Tribune, as we said above.) According to the New York Times, she’s a Democrat. According to Kilkenny herself, Palin “has hated me since back in 1996, when I was one of the 100 or so people who rallied to support the City Librarian against Sarah’s attempt at censorship."
We’re still analyzing Kilkenny’s claims, and we will be posting something on this soon.
Okay so Anne Kilkenny's got a pet peve about Palin.
Apparently she was one of the 60 people who wanted to get a recall of Mayor Palin.
BTW Palin NEVER FACED a recall Alaska law says ya got ta have 60 signatures in order to START a petition drive.

I agree with Candida...she didn't sound like a nutcase. In fact, she defended Palin on the pregnancy issue, debunking claims that Trig is really her grandson. Her email cited specifics, and did so in a way that was reasonable and not inflammatory. I don't know if what she said was true, but it certainly didn't come across as any sort of "smear campaign" that I have ever seen. And, as Candida stated, she has yet to be disproved on anything she said. Yes, she is against Palin, but that doesn't mean she's a nutcase. I think its very telling, however, that some are so quick to dismiss her claims without even reading what she's said (obviously). Frankly, I think she comes across as the best source yet on the REAL Sarah Palin because she knows her and has seen her in action for many years. How many people out there clamoring to either defend or attack her have that experience to claim?

injest........what is your source that Anne Kilkenny participated in a recall effort against Palin? That wasn't a part of the write-up I saw from Kilkenny. She was against Palin when she tried to fire the city librarian because this librarian wouldn't agree to ban books if requested. She, and others, got together and organized to support the librarian in keeping her job and fighting any form of censorship. When so many of the people in the town showed support for the librarian instead of for Palin, she withdrew her letter of termination. In other words, she bowed to public pressure to accept a librarian who wouldn't be bullied.

Thank you for that link. That's really all I was asking for. I appreciate it.
I see where the confusion was. The recall effort (if that's what you want to call it) was really just a group of concerned citizens who formed after she fired the police chief who was very popular and had a contract from the previous administration. I had read where he was suing her for illegal termination before, but I don't know that I ever heard how that came out. As far as the recall, it seems as though it was simply discussed at this meeting, but dismissed as quickly in favor of working with Palin and trying to reach mutual understanding.

wow. pretty shoddy stuff from newsweek and factcheck. they're both usually pretty on top of things.
Reply
the story is pretty shoddy in that they don't have the rumors right.
but...OKAY!!! lets go thru these 5 "rumors" one by one.
1) Palin cut funding for special needs education.
I've never heard anything about this either way, so, fine, great. Palin didn't cut funding for special needs children. no problemo. good for her. she's not the devil.
2) Palin demanded that books be banned from the Wasilla library.
Now, this isn't the story I heard and saw widely circulated. The story I heard was that during a Wasilla city council meeting, Palin asked the city's librarian what her response would be if Palin asked her to remove some books from the collection.
The librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons (now Mary Ellen Baker), told Palin that the books in the Wasilla Library collection were selected on the basis of national selection criteria for libraries of this size, and that she would absolutely resist all efforts to ban any books.
and this has been verified by others who attended the meeting, as reported by Time Magazine and the Anchorage Daily News:
http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1...
http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/story/515512.html
did Palin demand that books be banned? no. But did she throw it out there to see what the reaction would be? yes. which begs the question, why would Palin ask about banning books if she wasn't thinking about it and possibly intending to do just that?
Luckily, Mary Ellen Baker let her know that there would be resistance, so Palin did the smart thing and decided to just drop it.
still, BIG red flag on this one.

Palin’s Start in Alaska: Not Politics as Usual
.... Shortly after becoming mayor, former city officials and Wasilla residents said, Ms. Palin approached the town librarian about the possibility of banning some books, though she never followed through and it was unclear which books or passages were in question.
Anne Kilkenny, a Democrat who said she attended every City Council meeting in Ms. Palin’s first year in office, said Ms. Palin brought up the idea of banning some books at one meeting. “They were somehow morally or socially objectionable to her,” Ms. Kilkenny said.
The librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, pledged to “resist all efforts at censorship,” Ms. Kilkenny recalled. Ms. Palin fired Ms. Emmons shortly after taking office but changed course after residents made a strong show of support....

Palin's Churches and the Third Wave
Sarah Palin's churches are actively involved in a resurgent movement that was declared heretical by the Assemblies of God in 1949. This is the same 'Spiritual Warfare' movement that was featured in the award winning movie, "Jesus Camp," which showed young children being trained to do battle for the Lord. At least three of four of Palin's churches are involved with major organizations and leaders of this movement, which is training a young "Joel's Army" to take dominion over the United States and the world.

Interesting how none of the right wingnuts can be bothered to look at factcheck for the lies they gleefully spread about Obama, but now that they are starting to consider a few facts, they should take a closer look at the truth about the top of their ticket:

That half brother business is not an issue that has to do with this election. It has nothing to do with it. It is just a deflection to try and get people to focus on anything other than how terrible McCAin and Palin would be as the leaders of this once great nation.
Now. Do you have anything to say about the record unemployment? The loss of jobs? The plumetting dollar? The staggering national debt? Thye unwinnable war in Iraq? The horrible planning and abysmal execution? Bremmer creating the quagmire in the first place? Bush appointing people without any skills for jobs that they cannot do because they were loyal?
Any of that?-

The unemployment rates were very low until the liberal created subprime mess started and the liberal created problem of the cost of gas going through the roof.
Good going liberals. Create the subprime loans and when they go bust have the government bail them out. Liberal bleeding hearts had to let those who couldn't afford to buy a house under the old rules be able to buy them under the modified rules. Whoops. There was a reason for the old rules. Oh well. Let the government bail everybody out. Of course the housing market goes in the tank. Oh well. We will blame it on the Republicans.
No drilling where the oil is.
No new coal deposits to be used.
No nuclear power plants.
No new refineries.
Oops. Oil prices go very high. Can't drill. They go higher. Can't drill. Higher still. Pelosie adjourns the House.
Oops. We use more refined oil than we have refineries to make gas etc. So we have to get refined gas from foreign refineries. That makes it cost more.
Normal time to get oil after starting drilling as per the oil drillers. 1 1/2 to 3 maybe 4 years. Why does the liberals say it takes so long to get oil? The rest of the time is taken up by all the liberal red tape at all levels of government before drilling is allowed to start.
Where do we sit after all this mess started.
No drilling where the oil is.
No new coal deposits to be used.
No nuclear power plants.
No new refineries.
Why do I think that the liberals want it this way?

Another nut job saying that all those people in the planes, before they crashed, calling to the ground did not exist. The dead in those four planes are just made up. That explosives were planted in the building to cause the explosions.
As of 2006 there were 500 WMD found and recently the number has risen to 2000 but they don't exist.
Then you make up the story that Bush said that Saddam Husein was part of 9/11.

He was the Mayor of Richmond Virginia before becoming Governor. Richmond is a city of more than 10 times the population of Wasilla. Virginia has many more citizens than Alaska. And Palin GOVERNED a city, a state and people for over 16 years while Osama was still in law school...She's commanded the Alaskan National Guard...Osama has no legistlative, executive experience whatsoever....What important decisions has Osama made during his short career as a community organizer? What experience does he have that make him qualified to be our leader ? Here's a few facts for the Repubs:
Reply
1. Obama graduated Magna C'um Laude (straight A's) from the most prestigious law school in the world.
A. Guaranteed Fact, none of the Repubs on this blog or even Palin or McCain could even get in the front door at Harvard let alone graduate Magna C'um Laude from any podunk school.
2. Obama was selected to the law review at Harvard which is the higest achievement for any law student in any law school since those selected write articles which are published and are cited by lawyers in their court cases. The selection committee for the law schools are very careful and selective when choosing their candidates since the law review articles represent the law schools.
B. Guaranteed Fact, neither McCain nor Palin nor any of the Repubs on this blog could even come close to this achievement.-

Get your facts straight.

1. Obama graduated magna *** laude The probem with your straight a's is that is reserved for the summa *** laude.
The following is from the Harvard web site.
Each June, between 4% and 5% of the graduating class will be awarded the degree summa *** laude.
...the total number of degrees summa *** laude and magna *** laude constitute 20% of the graduating class.
...the total number of degrees summa *** laude, magna *** laude, and *** laude in field represent 50% of the graduating class.
2. Harvard Law Review.
From the Harvard Law Review web site.
At present there are 87 editors.
Membership in the Harvard Law Review is limited to second- and third-year law students who are selected on the basis of their performance on an annual writing competition.
Fourteen editors (two from each 1L section) are selected based on a combination of their first-year grades and their competition scores.
Twenty editors are selected based solely on their competition scores. The remaining editors are selected on a discretionary basis.
Some of these discretionary slots may be used to implement the Review's affirmative action policy.
Obama was unique. He chose to not enter his own works into the Law Review. That is one of the perks of being an editor. This helps when they go to find a law firm to work at. They can point to their own articles to showcase themselves. Why didn't Obama?
I have seen people who graduated high in their class not be able to do sensible thing. I have seen people who didn't go to higher education do great things. I look at Obama's record and scratch my head.
This extremely smart man didn't put any articles in the Harvard Law Review.
This extremely smart man who could have gone to a lot of prestigious law firms went to Chicago
This extremely smart man was told by Rev. Wright that if he went to that church the other churches would have a problem with him and he went there anyway.
This extremely smart man voted present so many times in the legislature.
This extremely smart man had his kickoff fundraiser for political office at the house of Bill Ayres.

Socialism supports the middle class, medicare, social security. It must be nice for you to be so rich that you don't or won't need medicare or social security. Who's the star. Palin is on every tabloid magazine - yet she can't give an interview. She and McCain haven't stated their new plans- only that their going to shake things up; they need to be more specific. Oh wait, what was I thinking. McCain has often stated he dosen't understand economics and Palin has demonstrated that she doesn't. Also, Palin has no experience with Social Security - Alaska doesn't participate.
Reply
Palin doesn't even know Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae are private corporations. They haven't cost the tax payers a cent- until the bail out. Our children's children will be paying the debts the republicans have run up- if the country is still here. Palin's college degree was in journalism. Obama's is in law. That alone makes him more qualified for the position. When Bush took office we had a surplus. When he ran for his second term he promised to cut the deficit in half. He has doubled it instead. The republicans have had control of the white house for 8 years, they had the house and the senate for the 14 years. It was President Clinton that wanted to establish the line item veto. That would get rid of all the pork barrel spending and earmarks. The republicans blocked the line item veto not the just the Democrats. The government allowed -encouraged jobs being outsourced from the country. Now because so many people are unemployed or underemployed they are blaming the lost tax revenue for the economic problems. The repubilcans are acting as if they are not the incumbent party. I would have respect for them if they stood up and admitted the republican party and their president made mistakes that now they now have a better picture and plan for the country. Reasonable adults take responsibility for their actions/inactions. Instead they try to blame everything on the Democrats and Obama. What you learn in any business school is if your rich or own a company you want republicans in office. If you work for a living you want Democrats in office. I have been a republican my whole life-until Bush. I am now an independant. I am voting for Obama; with him we have a chance. McCain and Palin it will mean the end of the country I love; anyone who is not a brainless, racist sheep can see the truth of the matter. -

Redistribution of wealth. Crap!! All he wants to do is have people who make over 250K a year pay more in taxes. That's not redistribution of wealth. Redistribution of wealth would be if we took the money from the rich and handed it to the poor. We are handing it to the government.
Reply
Your trickle down philosophy doesn't work. The money doesn't trickle down. If you want the economy to improve you must put the money in the hands of those who buy the products. And the majority of those people are the middle class. Give us tax relief and we will buy cars, go to restaurants, and buy other products that will get our economy moving, take the money away and we will just buy what we need to survive. How are you going to sell your products if no one can afford to buy them?-

You know the very people that invest in start-ups and small companies ? That money goes elsewhere or bye-bye....You want to hurt the economy more by preventing small business's, go right ahead....
And btw, just because Osama "claims" he's ONLY going to tax the rich, he's also going to tax the middle class, you can count on it...Under Bush's tax cuts a family of 4 making $30,000 a year gets a $1500 tax refund...Under Osama's plan, they get nothing, so I'm not sure which CNN show you have been watching but Osama's economic plan is crap and it is Socialism....
Even the other day Osama commented to reporters that he didn't say he was going to raise taxes because "You don't raise taxes in a poor economy"...And in fact endorsed more tax cuts, so you see, Chef, your guy is full of crap. He doesn't know what he wants or how to solve our problems....

Don't dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard– consider this.
Reply
Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It's on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.
As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.
She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.
Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska 's proximity to Russia , she may have security clearances we don't even know about.
According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.
She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.-

I certainly don't share her religious beliefs and her views on abortion. On the other hand, if abortion was recriminalized, it would touch approximately 1 million women annually, per Wikipedia, and pre-Roe v. Wade history suggests most of those would still find one in the black market.
Reply
Obama's push to implement United Nations policy would both undermine the U.S. Constitution and affect all Americans. And he supports major infringements on the second amendment. He also supports faith-based funding and returning the abortion decision to the states, so he's no friend of atheists like myself anymore than McCain is on those issues.
I'm betting that, whichever candidate ends up in the oval office will likely act pretty similarly on most issues, once he sees his choices from an insider's viewpoint. I like them all in some respects and dislike them all in some respects, but I'm really leaning towards McCain, simply because I think he's less likely to sell us out to the United Nations and other groups. We have to focus on shoring up our economy, or we won't be providing aid or military support to anyone.
We are at the point where the full-tilt mud-slinging starts, so now we'll hear from the extremists on both sides.-

The End Of Israel?
By Hannah Mermelstein
I am feeling optimistic about Palestine.
I know it sounds crazy. How can I use "optimistic" and "Palestine" in the same sentence when conditions on the ground only seem to get worse?...
.... and yet I dare to say that I am optimistic. Why? Ehud Olmert. Let me clarify. Better yet, let's let him clarify:
"The day will come when the two-state solution collapses, and we face a South African-style struggle for equal voting rights. As soon as that happens, the state of Israel is finished."
That's right, the Prime Minister of Israel is currently trying to negotiate a "two-state solution" specifically because he realizes that if he doesn't, Palestinians might begin to demand, en masse, equal rights to Israelis. Furthermore, he worries, the world might begin to see Israel as an apartheid state. In actuality, most of the world already sees Israel this way, but Olmert is worried that even Israel's most ardent supporters will begin to catch up with the rest of the world....
...Perhaps Olmert is giving American Jews too much credit here, but he does expose a basic contradiction in the minds of most American people, Jewish and not: most of us -- at least in theory -- support equal rights for all residents of a country. Most of us do not support rights given on the basis of ethnicity and religion, especially when the ethnicity/religion being prioritized is one that excludes the vast majority of the country's indigenous population. We cannot, of course, forget the history of ethnic cleansing of indigenous people on the American continent. But we must not use the existence of past atrocities to justify present ones....-

hyperbola1 year, 3 months ago
This comment is below the standard viewing threshold View It »
I am optimistic not because I think the process of ethnic cleansing and apartheid in Israel/Palestine is going to end tomorrow, but because I can feel the ideology behind these policies beginning to collapse. For years the true meaning of political Zionism has been as ignored as its effects on Palestinian daily life. And suddenly it is beginning to break open. Olmert's comments last week are reminiscent of those of early Zionist leaders who talked openly of transfer and ethnic cleansing in order to create an artificial Jewish majority in historic Palestine.
Reply
....So this idea of a "two-state solution" a la Olmert -- which I would argue provides neither a "state" nor a "solution" for the Palestinian people -- is the new transfer. It is no longer popular in the world to openly discuss expulsion (though there are political parties in Israel that advocate this), but Olmert hopes that by creating a Palestinian "state" on a tiny portion of historic Palestine, he can accomplish the same goal: maintaining an ethno-religious state exclusively for the Jewish people in most of historic Palestine. His plan, as all other plans Israeli leaders have tried to "negotiate," ignores the basic rights of the two-thirds of the Palestinian population who are refugees. They, like all other refugees in the world, have the internationally recognized right to return to their lands and receive compensation for loss and damages. This should not be up for negotiation.
So why am I optimistic? Why do I think Olmert will fail, if not in the short term, at least in the long term? There are many signs.-

hyperbola1 year, 3 months ago
This comment is below the standard viewing threshold View It »
So when Olmert warns that we will "face a South African-style struggle for equal voting rights" and that "the state of Israel [will be] finished," I get a little flutter of excitement. I think of the 171 Palestinian organizations who have called on the international community to begin campaigns of boycott, divestment, and sanctions against Israel until Israel complies with international law. This is already a South African-style struggle, and we outside of Palestine need to do our part. Especially those of us who live in the US, the country that gives Israel more than $10 million every single day, must take responsibility for the atrocities committed in our name and with our money.
Reply
Ultimately, this is our role as Americans. It is to begin campaigns in our churches, synagogues, mosques, universities, cities, unions, etc. It is not to broker false negotiations between occupier and occupied, and it is not to muse over solutions the way I have above. But one can dream. And as a Jewish-American, I know that while it might be scary to some, while it will require a lot of imagination, the end of Israel as a Jewish state could mean the beginning of democracy, human rights, and some semblance of justice in a land that has almost forgotten what that means.-

There is the hyper that all know and are disgusted by. The Zionist conspiracy. The peaceful Muslims are just misunderstood. They really don''t mean it when they teach their kids to kill all Jews. And the thing that most of the kids want to be when they grow up is to be a suicide bomber. Obama and other Muslims terrorists have as part of their avowed aim to kill ALL Jews and finish Hitlers final solution.
Reply
Israel comply with international law?
Lets see, the original border for Israel was the Jordan River. Jordan was called Trans Jordan for a reason when it was created. In 1948 all the Muslim countries surrounding Israel attacked at once. Avowed aim was to drive the Jews into the sea and kill them there. Where was the outrage against the Muslim countries for stealing part of Israel and keeping it until a few wars later Israel took back all of the stolen territory. Now there is outrage. Why. It was OK when the Muslims took it. Why is it bad for Israel to recover their territory?????
Poor hyper doesn't know his history.

Palin lied about visiting Ireland as part of her foreign policy experience
Reply
She didn't visit Ireland, which is what the McCain-Palin campaign claimed to Politico's Ben Smith on Saturday. She had a short refueling stopover, which means at best her extensive Irish diplomacy amounted to buying a sweater and a beer mug in the Shannon airport....

He was a community organizer Slate! How did you miss that? And don't forget he has been a senator for three years, two of those he has spent running for President. He voted present over 130 times in the senate, what a record huh? He is articulate, bright with a host of wonderful friends and associates! Father Pfleger, Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Rashid Khalidi. Why the good people of Illinois didn't know who he was until he stated running for President, thanks to his illustrious term in the senate. He hasn't been home enough for us to 'get to know him.' Tony Rezko knows him tho.

A simple analysis of the relative experience levels of Sarah Palin compared to either Democratic candidate puts this to rest. For over the past decade, Sarah Palin has been involved in executive decision making at increasing levels of elected positions of public trust. Obama has no executive experience, Biden has no executive experience. During that time, Palin left off running an actual private business in Alaska, a commercial fishing business and was elected to her city council and then, in quick order to be Mayor of her home town. She did so well there that she was ultimately elected to be Governor of the State of Alaska, managing 17,000 personnel and a 9 billion dollar budget. Obama and Biden have absolutely no comparable experience at all, neither of them.

Wasilla to get new sports complex
Reply
By Sessions, Christina
Publication: Alaska Journal of Commerce
Date: Sunday, May 11 2003
While the new sports complex helps fill Wasilla's need for a community center, perhaps the single greatest force driving the construction of the project is the need for an ice arena.
The drive for another arena began nearly five years ago when citizens submitted a nomination application to have construction of a sports facility put on the city's capital improvement plan. The proposal eventually made its way to the ballot and Wasilla voters approved the $14.7 million bond to finance the project in March last year.

What do we already pay the U.N., and what percentage is it of their total funding?
The U.N. Human Rights Council's membership includes China and Saudi Arabia: which rights do they violate besides college student murder (life), forced abortion (choice), and female genital mutilation (disfigurement)?
And let's see, who has veto power on military issues?
Finally, which U.S. Constitutional amendments, besides the first and second, would be undercut by U.N. policy if we were to adopt it?-

We pay the UN less than 0.1% of our defence budget.

Our contribution is less than our proportion of the world's economy (about 20%).
No other country except the US has militarily attacked over 50 countries in the past 50 years, killing millions of people all around the world (Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld massacred their first million during the Ford administration). We have sponsored extensive ethnic cleansing by zionist colonialists from eastern europe in palestine (over 7 million christian and moslem victims of zionism - the world's largest refugee problem). No country whose leaders should be on trial for crimes against humanity has any business on the UN Human Rights Council.
Crimes Against Humanity From Ford to Saddam
.... If we do not limit our analysis of Ford to his role as a U.S. "statesman," and instead examine his behavior through an internationalist lens similar to that employed to judge Saddam Hussein and concerned with crimes against humanity, we find that Ford, too, was responsible for mass murder-in East Timor. The responsibility goes further than Ford's now-well-known giving to Indonesia the proverbial green light to invade. What the green light metaphor obscures is just how decisive Ford's authorization was, and how his complicity with Indonesia's crimes continued throughout his brief White House occupancy....

None of the Constitution would be undermined by the UN. Those parts of UN policy which we adopt become part of US law.-

You do know how to use Google don't you?
But the barrage of publicity was too much for his fellow Republicans. Senator John McCain, R.-Ariz., cited the Bridge to Nowhere as a perfect example of wasteful spending. Senator Tom Coburn R-Okla., a longtime foe of pork spending, tried to shift the money to rebuild an interstate highway damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
Senator Stevens grew even more outraged: "I don't kid people. If the Senate decides to discriminate against our state…I will resign." He did not resign.
An uneasy compromise was reached. Congress took away the money for the Gravina Island bridge and another Alaskan bridge which was almost as controversial. Instead, Congress gave the money to the state with the understanding that it was not required to use the funds specifically for bridges.

The deal on the money for the bridge was cut inside the beltway

Talk about spinning nostalgia I noticed through out your post you kept using the word 'money' not once did you use the word pork, which is what it was. If Palin didn't just "keep" the pork then what did she do with it. One thing we know for sure she didn't give it back. Knowing how much she despises that kind of pork she no doubt had it incinerated by the state.

No, she fought like hell for that bridge money, Stevens managed to get half of it I guess then after it became a public joke she dropped it like a hot potato. What she and her supporters on this board keep refusing to acknowledge is that she discreetly kept the 'pork' she already received for the bridge ($398 million)and went into her "I'm against all this pork coming out of Washington' persona.

Yes, she did want authority to have wolves culled from the air, because they were taking too many moose and caribou. Which people hunt for food in the back country in Alaska.
No, she isn’t shooting them herself.
I mean, not that she couldn’t, but I’m sure she doesn’t have time. (Thanks to bluemerlin in the comments.)
yes, she kills animals and eats them, and wears their skins
yes, she was a beauty contest contestant
yes, she was once a sportscaster
yes, she was vetted extensively, not just in three days — I’ve got links to press reports about people coming to Wassila on 29 May, and we had her on our Veepstakes at PJM from the first day we ran it.
Yes, she want to a bunch of colleges before getting a degree.
No, that’s not illegal.
Yes, she seems to have made something of herself anyway.
No, they didn’t talk to a lot of the R’s power structure during the vetting; that probably has to do with the fact that she beat them in elections and sent a bunch of them to jail
No, she doesn’t believe in “abstinence only” education.
Yes, she thinks abstinence is an effective way of preventing pregnancy. Duh.
Yes, she believes kids should learn about condom use in schools.-

wow. pretty shoddy stuff from newsweek and factcheck. they're both usually pretty on top of things.
Reply
the story is very shoddy in that they don't have the rumors right.
but...OKAY!!! lets go thru these 5 "rumors" one by one.
1) Palin cut funding for special needs education.
I've never heard anything about this either way, so fine, great.

3) She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party.
Reply
this is NOT the rumor that's been circulating.
the story that's been circulating is that Todd Palin was once a member of a secessionist party. And IN FACT, he was.
According to Gail Fenumiai, director of the Division of Elections in Alaska, Todd Palin was registered in October 1995 to the Alaska Independence Party, a radical group that advocates for Alaskan secession from the United States.
And besides a short period of a few months in 2000 when he changed his registration to undeclared, Todd Palin remained a registered member of AIP until July 2002 when he registered again as an undeclared voter.
So, no, Sarah Palin wasn't a registered member of a secessionist party, but her husband certainly was.
Now imagine if Michelle Obama was a member of a secessionist party. you cons would be going INSANE over it, calling her un-American or worse.
But you are silent about Todd Palin. Hypocrites.
4) Palin endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president.
Maybe she didn't, but they sure share a lot of the same beliefs.
AND...the funny thing about this rumor is that it was started by guess who?
yep, that's right. Pat Buchanan.
"It's great for the base. I'm pretty sure she's a Buchananite!"
- Pat Buchanan, commenting on Palin as McCain's choice for VP candidate.
5) Palin pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska's schools.
Now, this is a tricky one due to the word "pushed' since as governor, its true that Palin never tried to force a creationist curriculum on the Alaskan State Board of Education.
BUT...When asked during a televised debate in 2006 about evolution and creationism, Palin said, according to the Anchorage Daily News: "Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important, and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both."
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gV5jvU52RD3WBfl...
so, she obviously thinks evolution and creationism are equal. which is ridiculous.
AND... curious that the newsweek article left out that very important quote of hers when talking about this point. strange.
Again, a very shoddy story from newsweek since they didn't even get the rumors right or delve that deeply into the nuances of any of them.
but you cons have fun floating around the surface. -

John McCain used the exact phrase "lipstick on a pig" to describe Hillary Clinton's proposed health care program.... But, Republicans are allowed to use phrases like that... and "change". They're allowed to choose a person who could serve as leader of the free world.. then not allow that selected genius to answer questions from the press. "Thank you but no thanks" sounded good in a speech until you find out Palin was for the "bridge to nowhere" before she was against it. "No earmarks" sounds great until you find out Alaskans under Palin received twenty times the "ear-marks) than any other state.... There's a lot of lipstick on this pig called the "change" foisted by McCain/Palin.
