What's the Difference Between Palin and Muslim Fundamentalists? Lipstick »
Posted By Neophile 1 year, 2 months ago in NewsJohn McCain announced that he was running for president to confront the "transcendent challenge" of the 21st century, "radical Islamic extremism," contrasting it with "stability, tolerance and democracy." But the values of his handpicked running mate, Sarah Palin, more resemble those of Muslim fundamentalists than they do those of the Founding Fathers. A theocrat is a theocrat, whether Muslim or Christian.

Obama has placed his foot directly into his mouth. The question is, was it premeditated? Was it in direct response to what Palin said regarding a pitbull with lipsitick???
Reply
Regardless, it still will not go over well, especially with the women voters he seeks.
Senator McCain is making real ground....Obama is trying to react cooly and calmly..but then again maybe not so much..
All the polls from the last 2 weeks show that McCain is gaining.
Last time the word Lipstick was used was by Palin at the RNC during her acceptance speech. Coincidence?
You decide!-

Palin believes in home schooling, no choice for women who have been raped or victimized, no sex education and no condoms, weird science, hunting down animals and mooseburgers. We can ask the Taliban if they would like her to have a position in Afghanistan's government. If the Taliban say no as well, then we know there just is no job for her in any government where she can implement her ideas.

Ha ha ha ha. That was so (un)funny! Don't quit your day job! Conservative humor is the driest humor I ever heard. Here's a few i think you'll like as well..

John McCain doesn't know how many houses he owns? Can't he ask Joe Lieberman?
John McCain doesn't know if any of his houses share a border with Pakistan.
Don't blame McCain. He couldn't resist that "buy six mansions, get one free" sale at Countrywide.
Hey, remember that horrible "joke" about putting Cindy in the topless beauty contest? I hear he was really in the "dog houses" after that. (Sorry ... still can't nail the dog joke.)
I hear that the McCains are doing a vacation house-swap with the Romneys. Sure, it'll take seven trips, but then they won't be very busy next year anyway.
Hey, John McCain can't remember how many houses he has! It's not his fault, though. He had the number written down but he left it in his other plane.

Obama said nothing UNTIL Palin went after Obama with lies in her very first Republican speech. I know what's going to happen now. People are going to say Obama/Biden have to go easy on Palin cause she is a woman.
Reply
While Palin can slam/lie about Obama all she wants.
As a woman myself, all I can say is if Palin can dish it out, she should be able to take it. If the McCain camp is going to be upset about a lipstick comment, how's Palin ever going to face world leaders we disagree with like Putin and Ahmedinejad, who are already laughing about Palin as a VP choice?
Palin is not Hillary, and she will never be.-

The article is so right, this should be given in the national media. However by attacking the Islamic Fundamentalists one should be careful not to alienate them away from Obama, in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio where they are a very crucial minority. One should narrow down these fundamentalists as Wahhabi, Jamat-e-islami or Al-Qaeda.

The more I get to know Palin the more she worries me. Originally I thought it was a good refreshing pick, but lately I'm just not sure any more. I'm happy that she has fought against corruption, something DC needs, but she just comes off as a little too religious. I think the separation of church and state is important and must be upheld, but I don't know if she can hold back.

"...First Amendment's establishment clause, which forbids the state to give official support to any particular theology. "
Reply
That's odd. The last time I checked, the Establishment Clause forbids CONGRESS from establishing a religion through legislation. If enough people say it the way they WANT it to read, others start to believe it, but the truth is the First Amend. NEVER forbids the state from giving 'official support to any particular theology.' Read it.-

Hey, Cons. You remember the body that appointed the Chimp-in-Chief - THE SUPREME COURT? Well, according to jurisprudence developed by the court, the 1st Amendment is incorporated to apply to the states through the 14th Amendment.
Reply
It is true that the 1st Amendment did not apply to the states. Several created religious tests for holding office.
But it was decided that the states should not have the power to violate people's basic rights, so much of the Bill of Rights was incorporated.
So the 1st Amendment does apply to the states now.
Are we clear?

And back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. ....
Reply
And back and forth.
When it comes to voting, the sad truth is that the issue, finally, isn't the issues, but with whom one identifies.
And in that regard the dice have been already cast for most Americans (who vote).
So let's keep the vitriol and the often paranoiac attack (as in aniokly's posts) down to the dullest roar.
It's fun to vent, but.... -
