McCain Makes it Clear That He Is Willing to Lie »
Posted By Neophile 1 year, 1 month ago in NewsSo it's come to this. We are being asked to believe that Obama called Sarah Palin a pig. If the people making that accusation have half a brain they know it's not true. This is not a question of interpretation. It is a fact. So we now find out again that John McCain is prepared to tell an absolute lie - in public, verifiable, uncontestable.

Why wouldn't the rest of the world be interested in the direction of the United States? They've all had a chance to read the mission statement of the PNAC and their quest for world domination. They've sat back and watched as we occupied a country that was no threat to us and they continue to listen to the saber rattling, yeah they're concerned.

I do beleive it goes something like this...
Reply
The majority of the people who were in the audience when Obama made that comment (those people in the audience would be fiendish Obama supporters) even many of them got up and cheered, many of them believed that Obama was referring to Palin. I can only think that millions of Americans all across the country also had those same thoughts. I do know that was the very first thing that came to my mind when I heard Obama say that. So why is it that you want to make this out to be some kind of conspiracy that only the republicans could conjure up?
Obama said it, we heard it, and most of us had only one thought as to what Obama was referring to.
Although, it is very likely that Obama wasn't even thinking of Palin when he said it. But that does not change the fact as to what people thought and what they beleive he meant by it. It is what it is, and the damage has already been done to Obama.... -

Obama said what he said, HE SAID it. NOT McCain, and NOT Palin. No one forced him to say it. NO, the republicans didn't Brainwash Obama into saying it. OBAMA all by HIMSELF said it. Like I say, it's very likely that Obama wasn't thinking of Palin when he said it. Obama is simply a dumb ass for saying it. Even if he wasn't referring to Palin, millions of people thought he was referring to Palin. He should have thought that it could have been taken all the wrong way. And there's the BIG the problem right there....OBAMA WASN'T THINKING! Do we really want a president who can't think quickly on their toes? The answer to that is NO, we don't want a dumb ass for president. -

neo - As soon as I saw he word "lie" I knew it would be a lib hit piece. You libs favorite word. Do you suppose anything said by anyone who contradicts your thinking could be just wrong or not right? Every time Obama says something wrong or incorrect it is he "mis-spoke" or "didn't mean" what they all think he did or he was "taken out of context" or he talks and dances around it. He still hasn't simply admitted he was wrong about the surge working nor has given credit to Bush for it. Nor has he admitted he was wrong about drilling offshore. Just gradually changing his tune for votes. He never actually apologizes for anything and never thinks he is wrong. And you can be sure he won't apologize for giving the wrong impression or "mis-speaking" on this one. However I still make my comments because it's so much fun and easy to expose the lib BS smears you (among others) post. Keep up the lib hit pieces. Each time you do, it gets McCain some more votes from clear thinking Americans. Just look at your buddies' comments. Now they are putting down Alaskans as a whole.

Typical neophile post. Hardcore ultra liberal story.
Reply
You can wiggle all you want but the facts of what happened are there when you listen to what he said then.
Fact - The comment was illustrative in the context it was given and NOT funny.
Fact - The background prior to the comment is Sarah Palins joke using lipstick.
Fact - The audience erupted in laughter when Obama said the first half.
Fact - The audience erupted in louder laughter when Obama said the second half.
There are two possibilities both bad for Obama.
One - He innocently used that illustrative comment and didn't understand the laughter until later. If this is the case what does that say about his thinking things through and being careful in delicate negotiations. He is supposed to be a very smart man and he let this slip through the crack. He really should have known better.
Two - He did it deliberately and tried to make it seem that it was innocent. This would mean that he is not a very nice and in fact quite vicious. -

This is something we can thank the liberals for. They had to change the mortgage rule to help the people who otherwise could not afford a house. Uh oh! Maybe there was a reason for those rules!!! Oh well. The Government will just pick up he check and probably help the forclosures to not happen. The liberal way. Throw money at a problem. Mess it up and then throw money at it but not fix the real problem.

The liberal answer. More money into research that is already been going on since Carter. Then the magic will happen. What was Obama's comment about a pig. Seems to apply here. Same with the fish statement. -

FWIW, I'm willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he meant to call Sarah Palin a pig. I think he's a horrible speaker when he's away from a teleprompter, and he continuously gets himself into these jams. He's just bad at extemporaneous speech, and not experienced enough to know how to monitor the metre of his comments so he can filter his comments before they come out.
Reply
He's a walking gaffe machine, and this is just one more. A little more experience will cure that.
Now let's get back to the issues; plenty to debate there.-

It was not a gaffe. The pig with lipstick is the continuation of the policies of the Bush administration. I think most people get that it was a metaphor, he wasn't actually calling anyone a pig. I think it is a good one too, the policies of the current administration stink.
I believe the issue was how similar John McCain's policies are to the current administration. -

McCain did not say it within the same week that Palin made the comment about a pitbull and lipstick. You have to factor that in, otherwise its a moot point.
Reply
You will NEVER be about convince most people because the two were said so close together. People in the audience knew straight away. If Obama did not know how he came across, that applause should have clued him in. He should have said right then, Oh wait, I did not mean it toward Palin. But he seemed to bask in the applause. That is inexperience. -

FTA: With a laugh, he added: “You can put lipstick on a pig; it’s still a pig."
Reply
The laugh tells me that he was aware that the association to Palin's comment would be made. Was it deliberate? Well, he didn't decide not to say it in order to be "politically correct."
I don't think he should have changed the expression he wanted to use because Palin made an offensive joke calling all hockeymoms "pitbulls in lipstick" or "dogs" or "bitches."
I think he was aware of the irony. I think his audience was aware of the irony, and I think it's also quite clear from the full context that he WAS NOT REFERRING TO PALIN as a pig.
But McCain's campaign feigning offense (and I'm sure they're feigning) is not an out-and-out lie. Obama knew the reference would be drawn, and he decided, on the spot, that he didn't care. Palin's 'joke' was much more offensive, anyway.-

You're willing to read one's mind with this assertion. He was talking about McCain. This term has been used many times before, several times by McCain against Hilary Clinton. Other republicans have use it extensively. Now, unless McCain is something other than what he claims to be (a male), there was no gender intended in the comment, just a commonly expressed term referring to McCain's attempt to portray himself as something that he is not.

He's been out stumping for Obama since the convention. Unlike the McCain/Palin team, they stump separately since Obama doesn't need his VP to draw the crowds. Only, McCain will be worse than Bush because he's arrogant enough to support enough

The common ground for all the Racists finding every nit picking reason not to back
Obama is that like a giant cremation - everyone is equal when we are nuked to ashes.
Color doesn't matter then.
But, because the people have suffered so much under the Bush Administration with young

If you look at McCain next time, think of him in a toga and a wreath on his head stabbing

Of course he didn't call her a pig. He wasn't even talking about her when he made the quip (which happens to be an very old saying that even McCain used in reference to Hillary Clinton before).....he was talking about the plan of McCain's that is like a mirror image of the Bush administration's plan of the past eight years. Saying it is different, and calling it something different, doesn't make it different if it is still the same plan..........a pig with lipstick is still just a pig. Absolutely no reference to Palin in that remark. Just one more lie from the McCain camp, proving their desperation that the only way even they believe they can win is to lie, cheat, or steal their way through this election process. For a candidate who once railed against “stale soundbites, staged rallies and over-managed messages,” John McCain seems to have turned over a new leaf.
Today marks the four-week anniversary since McCain held his last press conference (8/13 in Birmingham, MI) and three weeks since his last public town hall meeting (8/20 in Las Cruces, NM).
McCain’s new campaign strategy: staged rallies with thousands of supporters. Since announcing Sarah Palin as his VP choice on August 29, McCain’s has appeared at 11 rallies with his new running mate where both members of the ticket delivered a 10-15 minute stump speech.-

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Texas has the most corrupt politicians It goes back to he Johnson administration. The best example is the current administration and the over 750 signing statements. The former AG who resigned was a former Texas prosecutor. He thought that Habeaus Corpus did not apply to all Americans. He fired 7 AGs then he had to resign because it was politically motivated. Also, Texas is the home of KBR and Haliburton. These are the two largest contractors over in Iraq. Cheney was former CEO of Halliburton and owns stock. Both contractors have allegations of fraud in the billions of dollars. Their was testimony before the judiciary committee, but he current AG will not prosecute. Guess why?
You don't have to cry about voting for Bush, just don't make the same mistake by voting for a fomer Keating 5 indictee, John McCain. I guess you didn't know he was responsible for the Feds not closing down Silverado Saving and Loan and costing taxpayers 2 billion.

Unless your state is Arizona (McCain's state) yours has a lot more pork than Alaska. It also is apparently a state that produces non-productive idiots who sit around with nothing better to do than try to convince others that their cherry picked smears have great importance to the future of America. You apparently didn't know that the states with lowest population density get the most "pork". Alaska has by far the lowest density. Don't go to Alaska and spout off your smears there because they all carry guns and like to hunt animals other than moose.
